Let me suggest the current immigration laws and the way that are been used to make the public believe that this laws are protecting them from terrorism wich it isn't, and instead are creating discrimination, racism, persecution and different forms of cruel violations of the human rights, that in time will affect the whole society and most of the people are not even awared of the way that they are stalking more than 12 million families in this country.

i'm commenting on your request for topics for the short films--it would be great if you could examine some underlying issues that connect all the issues--like how profit and monopoly capitalism create institutions under which economic, political and social justice cannot be realized--

maybe even connecting two issues that might seem unconnected and doing a number of films like that--to educate people to the need, in essence, for a theory of society--not just to spend all our time fighting one issue and then even in vicdtory and other issue just as bad or worse emerges...

hard for me to give an example since i see so many connections--you could ask people to pick two issues they think are not connected and then do short films showing those connectgions...

but say for example take health care and the electoral college-this seems a bit of a challenge to make connections in a short video...

the solution to our problems of injustice needs to be more systemic

and in order to strengthen the actions, i think we need to have a deep and non-sectarian analysis growing from discussions in the public sector

if i were forced to give one specific topic--it would be the importance of the public sector and how everything is being privatized (or as ralph nader argues, we should say everything is being corporatized...)...

What I want and most of America wants is a complete investigation on 911 no matter where it leads...

They used Thermite combined with sulfur turning it into Thermate that cuts though steel like butter, there is evidence showing it was indeed used, we have pictures showing the Thermate cutting charges going off around the building just below the falling floors, not to mention the video evidence of firemen telling of the explosions going off before the towers fell, also there are many photos shot on 911 showing the towers being exploded, will gladly send you those pics it shows beyond any doubt that what bush told you about 911 was indeed a proven lie...

Just there stalling of the 911 commissions which is now called omission commission, it was a cover-up of the real truth...

Many of the major problems facing this country are the result of corporate influence over our political representatives. Campaign finance reform and publicly funded elections don't generate voters' interest because they don't see their connection with the corporate takeover of America. A video that makes that easy to understand could generate the grassroots support necessary to radically change the current system. That would allow good politicians to govern without having to worry about well-financed opponents and could force bad politicians out of office because strong candidates who can't currently afford to run for office would be able to. The pharmaceutical, oil, insurance, and other industries that are controlling legislation will continue to do so until meaningful campaign finance reform is in effect, and that is unlikely to come about until voters understand its role in addressing all the problems they already care about.

I would like to start out by thinking you all for the documentary Iraq For Sale. I am a Iraq War Veteran and I wish more people could see the atrocities of this war. For your next project I wish you would go in the way of the 9/11 conspiracy movement which is an event that has got us all into this crap were in today. Or get alittle more indepth on Iraq War. We need something that is going to go all out I mean really get heads rolling on what the hell is going on. As a war veteran Iraq For Sale was good but it just didn't dig enough. Marines and Soldiers are dieing and it is time to get down and dirty on these people. My frustration on what is going on won't let me express the way I want to on public t.v. so I was hoping you guys could do it. Thinks for listening.

There are many great ideas here, but I think the most important, dramatic and resonating film you could make would be about the apparent and growing fascist menace that the Bush Administration presents to the U.S. The unholy alliance of corporate power and right-wing zealotry has yielded a long series of outrages, including denial of habeas corpus, illegal domestic wire-tapping, institutionalized election fraud by corporations with ties to the Republican Party, an American gulag of illegal detentions and torture, a massive shift of taxpayer money into war-related industries, a $385 million contract in 2006 to Halliburton for the construction of ‘domestic detention centers’ (in case of a flood of immigrants or a ‘rapid change of policy’), a reliance on Blackwater and 170 other corporate armies to provide ‘security’ in Iraq and New Orleans with no accountability for their budget or behavior, and a presidential directive on May 9, 2007, that appoints Bush the head of all three branches of government in the event of what he considers a sufficiently grave national emergency (echoing the Reagan-era plan to suspend the Constitution during national crisis, drafted by Searle CEO Donald Rumsfeld and WY Congressman Dick Cheney).

If the mainstream news-blocking media ever mention matters such as these, they provide no historical perspective, as if these outrages were isolated items with no cumulative significance. The voting shenanigans that have been going on in the last few elections including efforts to keep people from voting and to keep us from verifying if our votes actually got counted correctly. If our votes don't get counted correctly and aren't transparent to verification it WON'T MATTER how informed the public is. Because even though we vote whoever controls the voting machines will control the count and determine the outcome of our elections.
My top issues would be: 1) Assuring citizens can vote and have their votes counted correctly and verifiably. 2) Clean elections so that our representatives actually represent us not the special interests who financed their campaign 3) Continuing what you already do, ie. exposing the corporate media for what it is so that more people realize we are not getting the truth but rather the spin they want us to have on the "news". 4) Raising the impeachment question before these guys get us into another war in Iran. If what Bush and Cheney have done doesn't warrant impeachment, what exactly would? Only lying about affairs with interns? Lying about wars is ok? Pre-emptive wars are ok? Torturing is ok? Holding prisoners indefinitely without charges is ok? Spying on American citizens is ok? Drafting policies allowing the president to become a dictator in national emergencies is ok? Having your friends make huge profits on the war you started is ok?

Take the profiteering idea out to the next level. How are the people who make the money tied to the Fed, and to politics, show the system for what it is a closed loop of money. We are going into debt to the Federal Reserve ultimately why not explore the link between the 'owners' of the Federal Reserve and the people who sit on the boards of the profiteers. The ties of the banks and the mass media, the energy industry, military contractors, The same people sit on these boards, these groups of people act in congress (no pun intended) to keep us in debt, in the dark, and sending our poor young people to die to maintain archaic industries.
The Federal Reserve is a private institution, and it is who our govt. (i.e. us) goes into debt to, does anyone smell something fishy?

Would really like to see a film on the "VA" merry-go-round that veterans have to deal with when applying for benefits.

According to Knight Ridder News Service over 13,000 veterans have died over the last decade while awaiting resolution of their claims.

Over 1000 GWOT soldiers are now homeless.

Congress was informed in 1994 by Chief Judge Frank Nebeker that "Many ROs (VA Regional Offices - where claims are processed) appear to do what they think they must when they get around to it…. The attitude in at least some of the ROs seems to be "I don't care what the Court says the law is. I care only what my boss says it is."

Is it any wonder there is a backlog of over 400,000 veterans claims currently awaiting a descision.

Veterans currently have to wait an average minimum of 3 years before they can have legal representation and as reported by the Knight Ridder News Service some cases have been drawn out as long as 55 years.

During this process a veteran may lose his/her home, possessions and even life. The veteran (or family thereof ) may not hold the VA liable for damages.

One issue I would like to see addressed more widely is the ongoing efforts by the radical Christian Nationalists to subvert our democracy and create a fundamentalist Christian government. This is not a minor issue - the Christian right already has tremendous power to influence our government, and they don't intend to stop with that. The writings of their leaders are genuinely frightening. I recommend for further enlightenment "Kindom Coming", by Michelle Goldberg, and "American Fascists", by Chris Hedges.

Mr. Greenwald probably deals with this a lot- conservative pundits especially can be heard dismissing someone outright for being a liberal elite, as if the listeners understand why that fact alone means their view is worthless. We have a bizarre fear of academia.

You're doing very important work, keep it up! I agree with most all of the messages above. What I think is crucial that Americans understand that our problems are systematic. The Bush/Cheney regime is simply a result of this systematic failure. So we need to fix that first (basically, assuring really just elections and a really free media).
On top of that, we need to come to terms with the fact that we've bascially been fed a lot of propoganda in our highschool history classes. Who knows that Hawaii was taken by us by force? That Panama was created after we invaded Columbia? That the Spanish-American war was based on false charges, just like the Iraq war. (The Maine was not blown up by an enemy bomb, but was due to a mechanical failure). Once Americans start to doubt (such as I have) what they are being taught and told, they will automatically begin to search for the truth. So how to put this into a film? Why not draw the parallels with the Maine incident, the Golf of Tonkin (and, if you are daring, Pearl Harbor--not really surprising that it happened, since the U.S. was blockading Japan), and 9-11. I am one who is convinced that it was an inside job.

Since the Democratic party still seems gun-shy and our journalists have not stood up and exposed the lies, etc., it is important that the blatant lies told by the Bush administration; the utter disregard for our Constitution and it's war against dissent be totally exposed. I've recently watched a documentary where American soldiers in Iraq and those who have returned spoke about their feelings. I've also watched the new Bill Moyers' show where they concentrated on the miserable job our journalists did when Bush and his cronies were making their case for the Iraqi war. We need to show the American public how they have been lied to and how important the voice of dissent is in a democracy. Bush has made dissent synonymous with being a traitor. Their constant lies need to be exposed - how they are NOT supporting our troops - necessary equipment has been withheld. We need to stress the importance of separation of Church and State; how war should be the LAST resort to settle a coflict, not the first method used. We need to show the public the numbers of Americans and Iraq civilians and soldiers who have been killed and maimed by this war. Show th public what the consequences of war are; we have become an incredibly militant, imperialistic force; this is NOT the America I grew up in... My son, who is 17, hates this country and wants to leave; many of his friends express their doubts about their ability to lead a safe, productive and peaceful life in the USA. Sorry for my meandering, I am extremely frustrated at the direction of my country and concerned about the leadership and lack of honest, ethical people in the higher levels of government.

Among the biggest of the big issues (including the inside-Beltway seduction of the press or the incestuous press/politics connection) is simply that political leaders should lead -- not follow.

At a state Demo convention a couple of political consultants were trying to discuss Demo "talking points" and they all but emptied the room of people who had essentially the same goal. Their "talking points" were focused on winning over those few swing voters in the mushy middle who the pros believe determine the outcome of elections -- and who probably would be unable to find their collective asses with both hands even with the assistance of instructive talking points.

This is a mistake.

If candidates establish positions driven by focus groups and consultants, they are not leading, but are constantly **trailing** the electorate -- and alienating an increasingly cynical "base" (me) at the same time.

Poll-driven Hillary has lost whatever credibility she used to have. John McCain, well... you know. John Edwards seems to be attempting to lead with populist values and not a lot of waffling based on focus groups. The fact that he doesn't have a long DC resume matters not at all. He is an intelligent man who never had the luxury of failing upwardly like many in government.

I mention Edwards as an example, not necessarily as an exemplar. There's still a lot of time until the election.

Anyway, you get the idea.

P.S. - When will politicians try on "Impeach Bush"... "and Cheney" for size? I live in a solidly Republican area, but get a lot of favorable response and no threats for my bumpersticker expressing this thought.

Perhaps one thing that I could suggest is also taking on the issue of impeachment. There is enough evidence to warrant this course and the Democrats taking it off the table is not an option. We cannot allow Congress to abdicate its responsibilities anymore, like they did with the war powers act. A film about the facts that point to a need for impeachment and a review of exactly what is required under the law would be educational and might put some more steam to this issue.
