Brave New Films: The Iraq War: Totally the Best Way to Spend $3,734 A Second

    Four points:

    1. We ARE in debt for a mulititude of reasons...one being education as well.

    2. No one I know personally in this country so childlishly agreed with going to war with a mission to simply "kill people".

    3. The government is not responsible for New Orleans. Its people are. Throwing money at situations is not the final answer.

    4. What is your alternative spending plan to deal with people whose purpose in life is to kill you and me?
  • Alexander · 2 years ago
    One more thing...
Your slogan, "They Distort. We Reply." is laughable. Funny, its the first thing I thought about your "FOX Attacks the Environment" video...its distorted! I watch that video and see a beatiful thing: OPINION! Opinions expressed by guests on the show...and QUESTIONS asked by TV broadcasters. Seems like a very level-headed approach to a news cable station to me! Far more balanced then many medias we-hate-all-things-conservative and we-know-better-then-anyone approach to me!

    Blessings!

    1. Prior to the current President taking office our government was operating with a surplus.

    2. Why did we really attach Iraq?

Was it to insure that terrorists could no longer use Iraq as a training facility? No, there are more Al-Qaida operatives in Iraq now than before we attacked.

WMD's? No inspectors on the ground with access to whatever they wanted to see said there were no WMD's.

They were trying to purchase anthrax? No that statement by Mr. Powell was proven to be false.

Why? GREED. No bid contracts gave billions of OUR money away. 4 billion dollars cash, shipped to Iraq with NO accountability. Get real. The only purpose of this administration is to make themselves richer. Everything else they do is an attempt to ensure the perpetuation of the power they wield to continue to steal money from the American People.

    3. The government through the use of the Army Corp of Engineers is responsible to protect the City of New Orleans from hurricanes. If the levies had been built to withstand a category 5 hurricane the damage to New Orleans would not have been anywhere near as devastating.

    4. Anyone with any sense of the Almighty God in Heaven would be aware that no one in creation's sole purpose in life is to kill you or me. There have always been those who will hate and despise America and there always will be. Attacking other countries is not the way to deal with those people. Quite the opposite.

Here's an idea on how to stop mid-east terrorists. Stop funding them. This country should strive to be energy independent. We should be trying to find ways to reduce our energy consumption and stop driving up the price of oil making countries that sponsor terrorist activities wealthy enough to give money away to these kinds of organizations.

Why doesn't the current administration see that? Why don't they want the price of oil to come down? Follow the money.

Alexander, May God Almighty in Heaven, The One True God, Creator of All Things, see fit to open your eyes and your heart so that you may work for the betterment of Creation.

    Bless you one and all.

"1. Prior to the current President taking office our government was operating with a surplus."

Sources please? This is total, total news to me. ALL my life I have been taught that the government is always operating with a negative balance. You must have not included the national debt.
  • Randy Rose · 2 years ago
You don't seem to understand the difference between a balance sheet and an income statement. Yes, we have a huge national debt, most of it accumulated under 3 administrations, Reagan, Bush the Elder, and Bush the Lesser. The Clinton administration eliminated the operating budget deficit. This means that the goverment was spending less than it took in. I suggest enrolling in Business 101 somewhere and getting a clue.

It is so tiresome to hear people talk about supporting the war in Iraq. If you truly support this administration and its policies, I sincerely hope you are volunteering and are on YOUR way to Iraq to fight. Since the war started, the age limit to volunteer in the armed forces has increased to the age of 42. I'm sure there is a post in there for you somewhere or for a child of yours. Let it be your child cause no child of mine is going to Iraq to die for King George I, Halliburton or Exxon/Mobil or Ruper Murdoch!

Here's a plan. Share the wealth with other countries so they will be willing to help stabalize the region, send their own troops, and get the American face off of this conflict. But we all know that greed is what got us into this war and I don't think even the majority of Dems are willing to give up all that oil.

As for pulling out the troops, it will only end up costing us more because the US isn't going to give up that oil nor the power of having presense in that region. Less military means more contractors from all over the world getting paid far better than our troops and even less accountability due to the lack of laws governing these folks and the ease of which these folks can be lost in the system.

"1. We ARE in debt for a multitude of reasons...one being education as well."

Thanks for that educational tidbit. Maybe we should eliminate all educational spending so we can dump more money into Iraq!

    2. No one I know personally in this country so childishly agreed with going to war with a mission to simply "kill people".

You're right. There was the killing people part, but also the protecting oil part. Also the 'completing daddy's unfinished business' part.

    3. The government is not responsible for New Orleans. Its people are. Throwing money at situations is not the final answer.

Unless it's throwing money at Iraq. See, spending more money to rebuild New Orleans is wrong, whereas spending billions to rebuild [sic] Iraq is patriotic. Seriously, how do you socialist liberals not GET that???

    4. What is your alternative spending plan to deal with people whose purpose in life is to kill you and me?

Hear hear! I mean, what do you liberals propose, fully funding the 9/11 Commission recommendations? Border security? Upgraded communication systems for police and fire departments? That's just throwing money at the problem.

In response to Alexanders 4 points, I would like him to know that it is the Federal Government's specific responsibility to help those that the Federal Governments specific irresponsibility injured. The majority of the damage to New Orleans was caused NOT by the hurricane, but by poor design and maintenance of the levees, under the responsibility of the Federal Corps of Engineers.

They grossly failed in their responsibility to properly DESIGN the levee in the first place. And they failed to respond to the problems, years before the hurricane, and years after they had been made aware of the problems.

So, this is irresponsibility on the federal governments part for which they should rightfully be held accountable.

By the way, their failures cost me $297,000 personally and many others a lot more than that.

Alexander... you're an idiot! You don't even know the difference between 'then' and 'than' yet you seem to know everything about journalism. You're (note the difference between the spelling of your and you're... I'm guessing you would fail this too, or do you say to?) too quick to dismiss the reaction to Fox news as being some sort of liberal attack. The fact is, Fox has NEVER had a real scientist with "peer reviewed data" on their program. Now you can continue to listen what ever Fox News spoon feeds you, or you can question it and do some investigating of your own. Maybe you will find out how real science is done. Maybe you might ask yourself "what is too be gained by passing global warming off as a hoax?" then you might be able to ascertain what is to be lost!

    Now from my sarcastic side:
We interrupt this NASCAR event to bring you this important message.... The polar ice caps are melting, uncovering serious deposits of oil! Also, a massive terrorist cell, larger than any in Iraq, found in Greenland. U.S. troops are on the way!!!!

It is simply amazing how dumb middle class american white folks are. LBJ gave you privatized military morons who must have war for profit. Which means war is now a business and we must have a war of the moment for whatever dumb reason. "Tricky Dick" Nixon took away health care and called it HMO - (Human Massacre Only). Reagan gave you a tax cut and took away all your tax deductions. In case you idiots don't know it, that amounted to one heck of a tax increase. Then to add insult you idiots injury he took consumer items out of the inflation index so corporations and government could claim 2% inflation and give raises based on that figure while the things that a normal person buys like groceries, lights, heat, etc., was increasing at 10% per year which eliminated the lower middle class - the bulk of the people who voted for him into the ranks of the poverty stricken. George H.W. Bush said,"Read my lips, no new taxes," and what happened? He raised taxes and sent us off to war for the profiteers. Clinton brought us NAFTA or whatever it was that sent our jobs overseas. Now George W. Bush brings us the ultimate moneymaking war for rich people. And what are these dumb news commentators getting out of championing such idiotic lunacy? A small paycheck for their ignorance as their families and friends fall from the ranks of the middle class into poverty as they point their fingers in all directions except the right one. The audacity of saying that the world's most celebrated scientists are wrong on such an important issue as global warming. What kind of idiot would say that it is best to spend money on a misguided war rather than New Orleans. I guess the middle class dummies in New Orleans got a rude awakening about how much the rest of the American public cares about them. Let a storm hit New York or another center of the ignorant media "experts" and we'll see how quickly the tune changes to a cry of outrage. Ignorance is appalling and "the chickens will come home to roost."

So often I see "right thinking" people comment on these sites -- people who appear to be informed regarding the ineptitude, illegitimacy and outright criminality of this administration. So, given the thousands of people in the streets regarding the "illegal alien" issue -- how is it that millions are not in the streets screaming, crying, demanding the impeachment AND TRIAL FOR INTERNATIONAL CRIMES of both Bush and Cheney. Why is there no cry for the impeachment of Atty. Gen. Gonzales? Why? Why? Why?
    Again I hear only silence...
  • razkeys · 2 years ago
I suggest we listen to Mr. Kucinich's 12 point plan. I'm no politician or brainiac but it sure makes sense to me. He won't get elected because he makes too much sense. Americans can't get the point that we can make it happen if we try. Peace/environment etc

HEY! IS THIS LOUD ENOUGH FOR YOU?
Your President Bush has full economic control of the most dangerous military on Earth and he is not afraid to use it for his own purposes. Standing up to the Man and his filthy rich corporate friends is dangerous to say the least. Also, a great many hypocritical new car owners are keeping extreemly silent on the whole issue.

It is almost fatalistic, the way that good money is disappearing into nothingness, while our next generation watches opportunity dwindle away.

Regarding your earlier post, "Sources please? This is total, total news to me. ALL my life I have been taught that the government is always operating with a negative balance. You must have not included the national debt," according to the Congressional Budget Office, under the Clinton administration, the United States had a projected federal budget surplus for the first time since 1969. Here's a link so you can see for yourself:

    Hey Guys
i just want to tell you that all the people always ask WHY? the reason is very simple, USA is full of low educated people, and the ones with good education and oportunities, have the money to just dont care about. Middle class are going to be like pandas in 20 years, and the ones who "care about", are too lazy to do something real strong to make them hear....so what we reaaaaaally need is a big rock coming really quick, the only problem is that halliburton is going to rebuild the planet...and here we go again.

War is big business for Government. They must think we are Sam sausage head omali if they want use to believe this war is costing us this kind of money. This President and his cabinet shall be some of the riches people that shall ever live after his administration. There is no outline of Accountability on spending in Government. Corporations have more control than our Government. Like the old saying the rich keeps getting richer and the poor, poorer
