Brave New Films: Rudy skips minority debate to fundraise with Bo Derek

  • eriKKa · 2 years ago
Rudy's excuse should have been more honest: If I am elected president, opportunities to get money for myself and celebrities will always come before the people of the United States. As I learned on the days and years following 9/11, never miss the opportunity for a good photo-op.
  • John · 2 years ago
He was too busy watching the O'Reilly Factor.
  • terry dugan · 2 years ago
WHere's Rudy: Well done. Adolph must know by now that the 9/11 responders will shadow his campaign. Here's a good name for these video bits you are collecting: 29 hours. That's the amount of time the responders verified Adolph was down there, most of it spent escorting mucky mucks around the site.

Ask the dark-skinned people from NYC who were my constituents when I was mayor; they'd be glad to tell you! I'll be too busy hob-nobbing with the wealthy in beautiful Santa Barbara, where I really belong.
  • Frank McKenna · 2 years ago
He was obviously shopping for a 4th wife and potential first lady ... got to have your priorities in place. Politicking with minorities is clearly a distant second, especially when minority voter turnout for GOP candidates is part of the cost-benefit analysis.
  • Eileen Flanagan · 2 years ago
Where should Rudy have been? Rudy should have been testifying under oath to a Congressional committee about his complicity in hiding the truth about the air quality here in New York City. He knew and told us that the air was fine. He knew and allowed the brave volunteers, firefighters and police to breathe the toxic soup at Ground Zero.

He is a vicious, venal coward who tries to portray himself as the Mayor of 9/11. The reality is that he placed his command post in the World Trade Center despite many warnings not to.

New Yorkers know---Rudy is a lying son of a bitch!
  • Ruth Resch · 2 years ago
This scoup is devastating! Thanks everyone at MoveOn! Why just single Gulianni? But what about the others who weren't there???

muck rake the lot of them please!

The gentleman introducing the clip is not Tavis Smiley. That's Tom Joyner. Just FYI.
  • Bob Zannelli · 2 years ago
It makes perfect sense that 9/11 Rudy spend time with Bo Derek. Clueless people of America are his core base.
  • Basil Tyler · 2 years ago
Dear Rudy: With all the large contributions that you seem to be gathering, I am sure you won't mind that I decided to give my $20 to someone for whom it matters: a personal friend named Hillary. I know she wouldn't pass up a chance to publicly air her views to America's minorities.

You're as dumb as the Republicans.

    Rudy Giuliani is a jerk.

Bo Derek is possibly one of the worst actresses of all time.

Why would you waste your time?

I have other things to do than read this garbage.
  • Gail Moore · 2 years ago
He's been a piece of trash since he was a NYC prosecutor, and a total jerk besides. Why are we surprised? I knew Dennis Wilson was "that way", but not Bo Derek. Just how tight were her cornrows?
  • William Bergmann · 2 years ago
Any man who cannot count on his own children to support him as he runs for president has not earned the title of Dad. I can think of no greater failure on the part of a parent.
Guiliani is being made into the chump for the Republican right as he has no chance to win and they want to end the moderates position in the party for good.
  • james grogan · 2 years ago
What would you expect? Ask any member of the NYCPD, the FDNYC, or anyone connected with 9/11 at Ground Zero what they think of "His Honor" Rudolph Giuliani. And this is the best the Republican Party has to offer??? Yes, I think it is. For kwisakes, VOTE DEMOCRATIC NO MATTER WHO'S RUNNING!!!

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy,... I hope you win the GOP nomination! Because the weakest Democratic candidate could beat you. And I'm sure some of your 9/11 trash talk will take a few GOP Senate and House seats with you... 2009 - The Year The Democrats Start (it will take quite a while to undo the damage) Rebuilding This Great Country Of Ours!

RUDY IS FAMOUS FOR CHEATING ON HIS WIFE, SO WHY NOT ALL OF US SEND HIM A NOTE SAYING WE ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR HIM, THEN NOT. SEE HOW THIS CLOWN LIKES IT.
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
There's no accounting for taste. Rudy likes hanging with bad actresses and bad commedians. If all he could raise in Santa Barbara is $100,000 then he's in trouble in California.
  • JAA · 2 years ago
Bravo Robert and company. Some of us know the real Rudy and I thank you for informing the rest of America. I have lost all respect for Dennis Miller, didn't have much but thought he was amusing on SNL. Having Bo Derek at his fundraiser is funny. I heard her try to articulate her personal politics on Larry King, I'll take Rosie O'Donell, a 3, and the Republicans can have Bo Derek, a 10?
  • Charlene Rush · 2 years ago
It appears that Rudy wanted to get as close to a "10" as possible.
  • Terri · 2 years ago
GAWD, I hope he's the Republican nominee!!! Dems will have a field-day with this slimy sob! NYers know full well who this man is and we will make sure the whole nation knows the truth by election night.
  • Amy · 2 years ago
So Rudy stands behind proposition 187--let's all remember that. And Bo Derk? No 10 she. Thanks John and Philip!
  • charlie · 2 years ago
He was busy delivering a secret report on Space Aliens infiltrating this nation with the help of Bill and Hillery, to President Bush. National interest and the security of the planet prevents him from giving us details. TRUST US.. YOU DONT WANT ANOTHER 9/11 CAUSED BY SPACE ALIENS DO YOU?? God Bless this Planet!!
  • Hanne Bille · 2 years ago
Giuliani HAS no excuse ! He should have done his duty and not partying while fundraising
    in California for HIMSELF.
  • lana · 2 years ago
I hope he gets the nomination. He is such a jerk! Does he really not know how important the Tavis Smiley event was? Any Democratic candidate could beat this guy...
  • Leslie Winston · 2 years ago
No one should be surprised at this. Giuliani has shown who he is for years now.
  • Randolph Maxted · 2 years ago
We all know how slimy politicians can be . . . even (or especially) when they're running for office. Can't help observing how the slime just drips from Rudy's smug smirk and oozes from his bright white smile.
  • Keith · 2 years ago
Why are you liberals carping about this man once again? He has love for all the black folks of this nation... just like Bill O' Reilly. Why he told me just the other day how surprised he was that some of them actually held jobs and behaved almost as good as white folks! Now if that isnt a great complement I dont know what more he can say!!
(satire alert..for those that dont get it..:)
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
Well Duh!!! Until 2 years ago I lived in Manhattan and I know first hand what a corrupt, venal person he is. He also had the reputation (aside from being a serial skirt chaser) as a racist. I am not surprised at his behavior.

It really does not matter what we think. The government of our is at the full circle mark. Remember what brought down the USSR? The war in Afghanistan! If we want to be a great nation again, its is time to start apologizing for our crappy behavior around the world. Its time to get rid of the oil and in with alternative energy. As long as we are ruled by oil Barons, we lose as working folk. Put that in your pipe and smoke it for a while. You might just enjoy it.

That's Rudy's big scheduling conflict? I suppose a party might be a lot more fun, but doesn't Rudy want to be known as the oh-so responsible 9-11 candidate?
  • YellowDog · 2 years ago
Hmmm, bunch of ol' black guys and Bo Derick?
    No Brainer on that one.

Rudy, you're an authoritarian creep who long ago sold your soul for thirty pieces of silver. I hate your politics and subservience to the almighty corporate dollar. You have profitted from a major catastrophy and its time for you to pay your debt to society by giving up and retiring.

He woulda been there - but 9/11 changed everything!
  • Harold Harper · 2 years ago
Whats the big fuss? Everybody knows we are going to have a Democrat president after 2008 anyways. I do have an objection to you referring to Pete Wilson as a racist and divisive. Pete Wilson stood to uphold the law and keep illegals from drawing public benefits, which they werent supposed to do anyways. If you consider that as being racist, then count me in. People who dont live here in CA dont have to deal with the high crime rate from these illegals. Rudy, being the winner ? Dont count on it, even on one of his non-offending days.
  • Steven Millan · 2 years ago
Rudy Giuliani Sucks, for he is an absolute creep would definitely make a much more worse President than G.W. Bush if mistakenly given that power, for if he were:inflation and gas prices would rise, free speech would be abolished, civil rights, womens rights, and gay rights would be ended, racism would become acceptable, and the war in Iraq would continue and develop into a dangerous nuclear war with Iran.

Remember everyone to definitely NOT vote for this man,and to make sure that the Democrats win the Presidential seat.
  • rosemary yaecker · 2 years ago

I didn't know as much about Rudy as I do now. He can come across as nice guy on talk shows but it is all smoke & mirrors. I am glad to read what others have said about this slime bag. I liked Dennis Miller on SNL but loathe his politics and Bo Derek has sunk to a new low if this was her date. I'd never vote for a Republican anyways but as John Edwards said in a speech that whoever the people choose for President has to be an honest and upfront President who cares about the people of this country. That doesn't sound like Rudy G. at all. I didn't know that Rudy G. was a racist. Egads! I recently learned about his spin on 9/11 and that he lied about how he did so much. BAh! Again, he is a slime bag. Who else was missing at the debate and where were they? I'd like to know.
  • Vince Calcagno · 2 years ago
Rudy missed the debate because of 911! Since he single-handedly defeated the terrorists (even though his city was the only city to be attacked), he was the ONLY person Bo could trust to see that Santa Barbera would be safe!
  • June Racicot · 2 years ago

Maybe Rudy should go to a Black owned restaurant with Bull O Liely to learn more about Black culture.
  • acbryan · 2 years ago
I heard Rudy and Bo are having an affair. Dennis Miller is invited to their "sessions" by Rudy personally to provide the color commentary -- naturally.
  • Phil · 2 years ago
Dennis Miller from FauxNews and his own radio show is the only person who can put my 3 year
old child to sleep each day through listening to his show. Its soooo boring.
    Rudy and Dennis belong together.
  • snesich · 2 years ago
Uh, eh, uh...Rudy was told that Dennis Miller was going to be there in blackface, doing his Al Jolson imitation, singing "Mammy". And you can't expect the man to miss that!

Rudy loves watching his court jester, Dennis Miller, in blackface and he thought it would be a more significant and appropriate way of showing how he, Rudy Guiliani, felt about black people in America.
  • ingrid · 2 years ago
I would love to see the dress Rudy was wearing.
He has been known to wear dresses to special events you know. I am sure Bo helped him pick out a nice one.

Rudy should go back to NYC and stay in his home where he will do the country some good.

    Friends:
Out of the reasonable fear that they would make statements on "minority issues" a dozen-times more self-incriminatingly stupid than the President of Iran's statement on the "phenomena" of homosexuality in his country, the four Republican presidential candidates mentioned (i.e., Giuliani, Romney, Thompson, and McCain) didn't dare participate in the Tavis Smiley event.
  • Shirley Bowman · 2 years ago
Cynthia Timko just beat me to it, with the cell phone gimmick. (Obviously I'm not the only one sick of this kind of cutsey humor.) How would he have answered anywaty? "Sorry darling, I love you, but I'm with Bo Derek right now. I'll say hello for you. I'm not new at this, as you well know!" Rudy baby, you blew it bit time. I chalked McCain off the minute I saw him on the stage with Jerry Falwell. Gag me with a spoon!!
  • claire jones · 2 years ago
Rudy has gotten rich off 9/11 and I think he is a tragedy.
  • Robby · 2 years ago
Anyone who stages a stunt having his wife call him while he's addressing the NRA can't possibly expect to be taken seriously - especially when during his tenure as Mayor of NY there were such practices police officers shoving a floor lamp up a black guy's ass. C'mon. It's the Rudy "Show me the money" Giuliani Show!
  • Com_n_sense · 2 years ago

  • Mick Russom · 2 years ago
Rudy oversaw police brutality at its worst, Abner Louima. He stood by the Police even though they were wrong.

Rudy was in charge when 9/11 happened. Thats not a good thing.

Rudy said it was safe to come back and many people were exposed to poisonous WTC dust.

Rudy Ghouliani is simply a bad man. He is also a career gun grabbing autocratic non-constitutionalist.

Rudy is hated by the NYPD. www.youtube.com

If Rudy knew the constitution, he would know as a Knight Commander , Order of the British Empire (KBE), he is forbidden to be President per:
    Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8

"No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State."

Also, the missing 13th amendment, which was surely to be ratified but DC was destroyed in a fire set be they British durin the war of 1812 - this is to show how much the US detested foreign entitlements at the time:

"If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall, without the consent of Congress accept and retain any present, pension, office or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them. "

Rudolph Giuliani gave working people plenty of reasons to hate him during his eight long years as mayor of New York City. But he left office at the end of last year a hero.

Time magazine named him 2001’s "Person of the Year"--for his performance in front of the cameras after the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Giuliani may have come off as a human being during the tragedy. But his record as mayor tells a different story--that he helped to wreck the lives of thousands of people with eight years of racist and anti-poor policies and his unwavering support for New York’s murderers in blue.

New York schools have become some of the most overcrowded and run-down in the country. But Giuliani scapegoated teachers, refusing to raise their salaries even minimally without "merit pay." In 1995, he slashed the budget for the City University of New York--and then had police attack students who dared to protest.

When transit workers prepared to go on strike in December 1999, Giuliani threatened each transit employee with jail for just using the word "strike"--and a daily $25,000 fine if they walked.

Giuliani used "Quality of Life" laws to go after taxi drivers, street vendors, protesters, bicyclists--and basically anyone who showed signs of being poor. "Streets do not exist in civilized societies for the purpose of people sleeping there," Time’s Person of the Year once sneered. "Bedrooms are for sleeping."

But Giuliani’s most enduring legacy may be his support for racial profiling and police murder. From the hideous torture of Abner Louima in 1997 and the murder of Amadou Diallo in a hail of 41 bullets in 1999, Giuliani relentlessly supported the NYPD Black and Blue.

At the same time, Giuliani showered massive tax breaks on Wall Street and the corporations.

Corporate media outlets like Time may pay tribute to this monster. But Giuliani’s real legacy is eight years of racist scapegoating, police terror and attacks on education.
  • Dan Mortenson · 2 years ago
I've always maintained that demonstrators should all (or at least lots) be wearing cameras to document the police's idea of respecting "free" expression.

Perhaps the same goes for anyone brave and foolish enough to challenge the dominant political paradigm.

Gee...Bo Derek and Dennis Miller...a C-actress and a B- (on a good night!) comic. Real movers and shakers! Now if Rudy had been with Streisand, I would have said, "we have a winner": instead, we have a classless, lying piece of something that sticks to one's shoe. What a farce!

Yea, right on! A powerhouse Press Conference and a an excellent adventure with Bo and Miller in beautiful Santa Barbara where maids and gardners know their place! Who told Rudy Giuliani that the Twin Tower was going to collapse? How did those who warned Ghouliani know it was going to collapse? (While moving with his entourage from Building 7 to the FEMA command post on Pier 29--set up on 9/10, the day before--Ghouliani said he had been told the tower was going to collapse.)
  • Sam · 2 years ago
Dennis Miller intelligent? Is that why his weekly show became dumber and dumber as he sold out his political base in favor of courting a power base? Or was it because his support of an unfunny and failing administration became tragic, not even qualifying as black humor? Dennis Miller goes for the cheap laugh, and he lost me long before his sponsors gave up on him. I have wondered where he was, and now I know. He and Bo Derek are BOTH living out their non-contributing lives supported by their residuals!

This collection of comments is ample evidence of the pettiness, and mean-spirited mindset of the so-called free-speech loving liberals. You're a pathetic bunch indeed. It'd be laughable but that you'll all be voting.

It's always amusing as well as telling to listen to 'nobodies' give their opinions on the talents and success of celebrities. Really, half of this conversation sounds like the text messaging orgy of 17 year-old girls.

So what if Rudy had gone on the Tavis Smiley show? Would he / could he have said or done anything that would have met with your approval outside of hanging himself.

Let's get clear here. The choice is between raising much-needed money to win a campaign, or kissing the ungrateful asses of the likes of you. Gee...

You fools have the conciet that you're a more enlightened and thoughtful bunch than all those stupid yokels in the red states, but I'm telling you - you're no better or brighter. Your just standing on the other side of the isle at the big dog and pony show called democracy.

Perhaps most appalling of all, (and there may be worse but frankly, I don't pay much attention to the shenigans of Mr. Greenwald and his minions) is the great glee, and pride displayed some months back when he was able to actually shut down/supress political speech by getting the Fox-sponsored debates cancelled.

    This is serving freedom/free speech?

    Rudy doesn't need any excuse.

Blacks will not vote for Republicans so why bother going to events with an NPR (a democratic mouth piece) host and a bunch of whining minority groups who get up in arms over the Jena 6 but could care less about the murders in Newark. Please all they want to hear is they can be pandered to.

Am I the only one who thinks that Rudy Guiliani's bid for the white house is just one big joke, if not a disgrace. The man was like Bush, he did nothing before 9-11 nor did he do anything afterwards. All he did is make speeches and hug people. With all that there is a chance that that idiot may get the nomination, he and that other "play" actor Fred Thompson, also a man who did nothing but is taking full credit for everything.

I would have imagined that RuPaul Giuliani would have been fulfilling his duties as New York Yankees Groupie #1. After all, he spent at least four to five times the amount of time he spent being a tourguide at Ground Zero following the Yankees in their quest for the penant in 2001. If Rudy were to fall into a meat grinder in the course of his shamelessly opportunistic run for the White House, his new classification would be Ground Zero. We do not need another ego driven sociopath leading this once great nation.

Is Bo Derek going to be mistress/wife No. 4?
  • Paula · 2 years ago
This doesn't surprise me at all ... he is an opportunist. Too, having seen a CD regarding what really happened on 911, he was NOT the hero that he pretends to be!
I am an Italian American, would love to see an Italian in the White House ... however, I could only support an Italian that honors our traditions, and would have Italians and all Americans proud of their service!
Too, I am not sure I or most Americans want to have another liar in the White House ... you know Bush lied us into this horrible war.
Clinton lied about a personal affair, no one died, billions not wasted, or I should say going to Haliburton, Bush and Chenney's company ...
I am sincerely hoping that all the "crooks" as Nixon would say, are held accountable for their actions!
Frankly I urge all Democrats, including those now in the House and Senate to work hard to accomplish what we voted for them to do ...
END THIS ILLEGAL WAR, and HOLD BUSH,CHENNEY ACCOUNTABLE AND BRING THIS COUNTRY BACK THE DIGNITY WE ALL DESERVE!

Rudy probally wanted to get tips from Bo Derek for next time he dresses up like a woman in public since he has done it three times and seems to enjoy it. She probally gave him some make up tips. There is a big difference between Fox NOISE and The Minority debate. Rudy is as big, if not bigger war monger than the Shrub and Rupert panders to them witout a doubt. You righties need to re-group. See you in about 12 years or so, if ole Georgie Boy hasn't gotten us blown off the face of the map by then. And, yes, the Dems do support the troops -- We're the one's that want them to have the body armour and armoured vehicles. Not The Replubican'ts. Rudy is disgusting and he was in on the planning and execution of 9/11! They needed a mayor to help with the planning of such an attack and he was more than willing to participate since he has made millions off of 9/11!!!!!!!!! He just happened to be sitting a few blocks away in London when the bombs went off in the subways on 7/7/05. Coincidence? I doubt it because he was one of if not the first interview that day and who better than the poster boy for 9/11! His frist words when he was asked about what he thought when the bombs went off? 9/11 of course and who better than him to say it after the tragedy in LONDON and by the way Bombing DRILLS were going on a long side where they went off. JUST LIKE 9/11 too!

Here Eileen, and all the rest of you 'thinkers', is a copy of my earlier post. Read it and take a good look at yourselves:

I was born in NY, lived there or near there most of my life. I know G. cleaned up crime. Give him that but we've seen what Republicans do. Good Gad it's time for the rest of us to have representation. There's Republicans and then there is the rest of the world. Democrats are not as party loyal - that's because they actually are free thinkers.
Republicans blindly think they are always right. Democrats entertain the possibility that they may be wrong.

Mister G. graciously went to the Biltmore to personally explain to his one nice black supporter how 9/11 was all about him. Now that is courage, that is loyalty, that is moving. More intriguing to me, what is this nice lady's excuse? Tavis Smiley's estranged daughter? Oprah's disgruntled masseuse? Personally, as a Santa Barbaran, I'm hoping she's an undercover Dagara shaman there to exorcise the low vibrational thought forms of this sad Mafia cracker outta town, better yet, off the planet.

Go Rudy! That marrying the second cousin thing is sure to lock in the "git-r-done" vote.
We are no longer a predominantly manufacturing country, unless you include fabricating stories from whole cloth, which is a supporting plank of the Republic Party. Outsourcing jobs and privatizing the bulk of government and the military is another plank.
The Republic Party has become the military industrial complex. War and death is what this nation will manufacture and export, until such time as the Republic Party is stopped and outlawed. There is no going back for this party. It must be eliminated. An informed and educated electorate is it's worst enemy. Be informed, stay involved, DO SOMETHING.

Benihana: "He is an accomplice to murder." The genius is staggering! I reel to think how many great minds are involved in this important exchange.
  • William H. Bassett · 2 years ago
    From a concerned citizen!

We must insist that the press put the following line of questioning to the Presidential candidates and publish the responses.

“Do you repudiate and reject the policy or practice of -

[here insert one from the well known laundry list of Bush/Cheney executive violations of Constitutional limits, law and generally accepted norms of transparency, environmental transgressions and failures the majority of Americans find to be impeachable.]”

After a series of such questions, which must elicit refutations of a number of Bush/Cheney policies and actions, the candidate should be asked if he/she then recognizes their Constitutional responsibility to call for impeachment as the necessary corrective.

While it is to be expected that all candidates will stand for a strong executive, they cannot afford to be seen favoring a secret government abusing and abridging the rights of citizens, weakening environmental protections for the benefit of corporate greed, failing to respect the rule of law at the highest level of government. They must support the Constitutional balance of powers and the rule of law and join Dennis Kucinich in calling for impeachment to make the strongest statement available to condemn policies and actions that undermine our system of government.

If Bush/Cheney are not brought before the bar of impeachment now, as examples of the abuse of executive power, following Presidents will inherit all the precedents for the abuse of signing statements, secret violation of FISA statutes, toleration or tacit approval of torture, extraordinary rendition, cronyism, environmental degradation in the service of corporate greed, diminished protection of the separation of church and state, and the politicization of science.
The 2006 elections put a Democratic majority in power to effect change. The people are not seeing the change they voted for. Listen to the majority of people of this nation, who tell pollsters they want impeachment. A simple change of Party, brought about at the polls, will not make the forceful and specific statement that would stand as the citizen’s demand that their elected officials observe their oath of office requiring them to preserve and protect the Constitution.

Listen to over 85 cities and towns that have passed impeachment resolutions. Listen to the state senate of Vermont. Listen to 16 State Democratic Parties.

The Bush/Cheney administration, with all the power of the Pentagon and the secret powers of the CIA and the NSA at their service, do not protect us from totalitarian domination. The Constitution stands as the bulwark of the citizen’s defense! The Constitution establishes a separation of powers to provide the checks and balances that restrain an Executive’s dangerous or inappropriate assumption of powers. The Congress, the people’s representatives – are charged with the sworn duty to exercise checks on the Executive when that Executive oversteps.

At this point in our history, no political action rises to the level of necessity more urgently than the protection of the Constitution and the restoration of the rule of law. George W. Bush and Richard Cheney must be impeached and the powers they have illegally assumed must be repudiated!

I refuse to fund any party or politician failing to honor their responsibility to the Constitution in calling for investigations into the actions of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney leading to the possible filing of articles of impeachment.

    The 7 conditions (Warning signs)
that foster & fuel fascism are:

Instability of capitalist relationships or markets

The existence of considerable declassed social elements

The stripping of rights and wealth focused upon a specific segment of the population, specifically the middle class and intellectuals within urban areas as this the group with the means, intelligence and ability to stop fascism if given the opportunity.

Discontent among the rural lower middle class (clerks, secretaries, white collar labor). Consistent discontent among the general middle and lower middle classes against the oppressing upper-classes (haves vs have-nots).

Hate: Pronounced, perpetuated and accepted public disdain of a specific group defined by race, origin, theology or association.

Greed: The motivator of fascism, which is generally associated with land, space or scarce resources in the possession of those being oppressed.

    Organized Propaganda:

    a) The creation of social mythology that venerates (creates saints of) one element of society while concurrently vilifying (dehumanizing) another element of the population through misinformation, misdirection and the obscuring of factual matter through removal, destruction or social humiliation, (name-calling, false accusations, belittling and threats).

    b) The squelching of public debate not agreeing with the popular agenda via slander, libel, threats, theft, destruction, historical revisionism and social humiliation. Journalists in particular are terrorized if they attempt to publish stories contrary to the agenda.

    3. Fascism dovetails business & government sectors into a single economic unit, while concurrently increasing in-fighting and distrust between the units fostering advancement towards war. TOP

    4. a) Fascism promotes chauvinist demagogy, (appealing to the prejudices and emotions of the populace) by fostering selective persecution and accepted public vilification of the target group. It then promotes this a "patriotic", "supportive" or "the party line" and disagreement with such as "anti-government", "anti-faith" or "anti-nation".

    b) Fascism creates confusion through "facts". It relies on junk science, revisionism, the elimination of cultural records/treasures and obfuscations to create its case and gain acceptance. Fascism can also combine Marxist critiques of capitalism or faith based critics of the same to re-define middle class perceptions of democracy and to force its issues, confuse logic and create majority consensus between targeted groups. This is also referred to as creating a state of Cognitive Dissonance, the mental state human beings are most easily manipulated. TOP

    5. Both middle and upper-middle-class dictated democracy and fascism are class dictatorships that use organized violence (verbal or physical) to maintain the class rule of the oppressors over the oppressed.

The difference between the two is demonstrated by the policies towards non-lower-working class classes. Fascism attains power through the substitution of one state's form of class domination with another form, generally a middle class based republic segues into an open terrorist dictatorship, run by a few elite.

    The 14 Defining
    Characteristics Of Fascism
    by Dr. Lawrence Britt

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14-defining characteristics common to each:

    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. TOP

    2. Disdain for
the Recognition of Human Rights -
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. TOP

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats
    as a Unifying Cause -
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. TOP

    4. Supremacy of the Military -
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. TOP

    5. Rampant Sexism -
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. TOP

    6. Controlled Mass Media -
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. TOP

    7. Obsession with National Security -
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. TOP

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. TOP

    9. Corporate Power is Protected -
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. TOP

    10. Labor Power is Suppressed -
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. TOP

    11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. TOP

    12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment -
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

    13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption -
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. TOP

    14. Fraudulent Elections -
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. TOP

    Commentary:
An interesting note to end this article: As of January 2004, the United States fulfills all fourteen points of fascism and all seven warning signs are present. But we're not alone. Israel also fulfills all fourteen points and all seven warning signs as well. Welcome to the new republic, redefined, revised and spun. It is not too late to reverse this in either country, but it will be soon. The first step is realizing it. The second step is getting involved. As the propaganda slogan disguising our current war goes, "Freedom isn't free." But our war for freedom isn't abroad; it's here at home

Okay Eileen, I'm reading your post. The first thing that strikes me is:
    Organized Propaganda:

    a) The creation of social mythology that venerates (creates saints of) one element of society while concurrently vilifying (dehumanizing) another element of the population through misinformation, misdirection and the obscuring of factual matter through removal, destruction or social humiliation, (name-calling, false accusations, belittling and threats).

compare this to the efforts of the likes of Mr. Greenwald.

Our country is being ruined by the greedy. It's all about revenue, oil,and politics! We have no politicians that have any credibility. It's, who can get the POWER over all of us hardworking people who pay their salaries. Our votes don't count because those at the top have ruined the voting process. We need to go to the streets in protest.
  • paulster · 2 years ago
Yeah, Rudy, propaganda. Like The Lincoln Group or, oh m'God...CBS! Sue 'em!
  • Benihana · 2 years ago
Propaganda by Brave New Films? Robert Greenwald is the underdog in an industry that feeds mindless crap to the willing and yes deserving public. Work like Greenwald's is investigative journalism which is a dying art form in America today, just ask Seymour Hersch.

Eileen, et al - hysteria |hiˈsterēə; -ˈsti(ə)rēə| noun exaggerated or uncontrollable emotion or excitement, esp. among a group of people : the mass hysteria that characterizes the week before Christmas. • Psychiatry a psychological disorder (not now regarded as a single definite condition) whose symptoms include conversion of psychological stress into physical symptoms (somatization), selective amnesia, shallow volatile emotions, and overdramatic or attention-seeking behavior. The term has a controversial history as it was formerly regarded as a disease specific to women.

Can any of you give proof positive that you have gone past 4th grade? I do indeed love your comments, but it's hard to take any of them serious being that very few of you have any grasp of the English language and very few of you could pass a 3rd grade spelling test. Come on folks, if you want to be taken serious by anyone but your closest friends please learn to use spell check.

Now I understand in the current realm of posting on the net and blogging and IM's that spelling is not high on the list, but when you want others around the world to take your posts seriously you need to use a spell checker for the more difficult words and hopefully prove that you don't need to use one for the simple sentence structure and word usage.

Argue with me all you want that it is the current "cool thing" to use this new internet shorthand, but alas I still beg you, if you want the rest of the world to not view you as an idiot please take the time to express yourself in a way that the world can accept without judging our whole nation as a bunch of illiterate donkeys rear end.

Marc: Are you refering to yourself in the 3rd person or are you pretending that you have friends?

rudy: Acting like a condescending little prick doesn't make you right or intelligent.

You talk about other people failing to bring intelligent discourse to the table, yet I've failed to find where you made one salient point.

    Kind of pathetic, aren't ya'?

Mayor Rudy is a treasonist who knew about 911 before it happened, & did nothing to stop it or at least warn those who lost their lives in this false flag attack. Countless others have died since then after being told it was safe to return to Ground Zero in the days after 911. More 1st Responders & others are now very ill as a result of working in that area.

Frankly speaking, i don't know why we should be surprised at all about such brazen behavior of America's elected officials. Throughout American history they have violated our trust, their oath of office and the Constitution of the United States government. When Americans wakeup to their propaganda campaign of misinformation, we will become a true democracy with liberty and justice for all American citizens.

Dennis Miller is an apt supporter for Rudy. Two months ago, I witnessed Dennis before one of his standup events while he was wandering the streets alone before his performance. He signed a fan's pinshot of himself, but declined to sign a second for her non-present friend, despite the fact he obviously had ample time on his hands. He replied, "I don't think so." Just like Rudy, Dennis doesn't think -- and is an opportunist.

Greed, money and T & A beats Tavis Smiley and majority of Americans any day in Giuiani Land. An ever expanding "Land" where, "Death and Destruction to any and all who is not with US" will be the first and only ammendment of the New Constitution. The Billionaire's Corporate Freedom from Reason and the Rule of Law Acts are already being arranged in place of local democratic goverments and local control of resources and markets. These international acts are popularly and mistakenly known as "Free Trade Agreements. But the chief purpose of these agreements and the clear and forseeable outcome will be the elimination of nations, the inslavement of most peoples and the ever accelerating destruction of the natural world on Earth. Make no small plans and tell no small lies. Mr. Giuliani talks the talk, he needs only to walk the walk to the White House to build his planned Heartless Empire of the Corporations. Giuliani will erect this Empire on Karl Rove's, VP Cheney's and front man Bush's illegal and unnconstitutional two term foundation. This morally defective structure itself rests comfortably on the now "forgotten" Nixon and Reagan criminal administrations.

I used to live in Montecito, the rich suburb of Santa Barbara. Dennis Miller, fellow resident, was such a jerk that not a single person would ever sit at the coffee shop with him, nor even talk to him. I think it's disgusting! If we can't address EVERYONE'S needs in the primary, then we shouldn't be running at all!

My friends in New York who lived under Rudys' administration said it was one of the most criminal they've ever seen... Racial bias, cops out of control... Imagine him as President... Imagine ANY of these Republicans as President... And you thought Bush/Cheney was scary...

I'm in NO WAY excusing Rudy and I certainly don't endorse him, but he was probably being realistic - black America stays home on election day. Why should the GOP reach out to a block of voters who typically don't show up on election day? Or the Democrats, for that matter. I wish black America would take a more active role in politics; Tavis was certanly trying to engage them and he should be commended. I hope the disgraceful behavior of these candidates will be a further motivation.

This guy is so transparent. All these so-called leaders out running all over creation trying to smooze, booze, and favor their way into the White House! We activists have never been fooled!!

Giuliani is nothing but an opportunist like most of these "leaders". We truly need election and finance reform. Until we activate this, we will not be able to reclaim our country from these criminal sociopaths!

Some guy wrote a letter to our local paper. He said why not just give the presidency to the one who gets the most money and be done with it! Of course, he was being sarcastic! That's why it is like it is today. There is no excuse for these republicans to boycott all the so-called minority groups,(Politicians are actually the minority). They know that this is not where the money is for them so why would they care? They can get elected without poor, voiceless people who either don't vote or are Democratic leaning or get caged, etc., etc. I heard one African-American female Republican (Go Figure?) on CNN with Tavis Smiley. Her position was that The Repubs. are 1. Out getting money, 2. Figuring out the disaray in their party, 3. It's so early in the cycle that they can do this later since it is so early in the season. This is pure drivel! There is no excuse for these "phoney patriots"! They are selling out our country and their souls to the highest bidder in their self-serving need for wealth and power, criminals one and all.

I could go on and on, but you already know we are out here sick of this crap! Impeach Now! Prosecute! Jail! Giuliani is a Goke! Maybe are hob-nobbing with 10 girl, he'll be in for another divorce soon! Thanks for listening. Jane Christenson, Seattle

I think we should all get behind Giuliani, so that he gets the Republican nomination. He would be so easy to beat in the election! All we'd need to do is get a dozen New York City firemen together and ask how many times they saw him at Ground Zero or how much he actually helped them. What everybody forgets about Giuliani is that in New York City on September 10th, everybody hated him, both Democrats and Republicans.

I wonder what made Dennis Miller so scared that he has to see red. Fear is always behind aggressive rantings. Could somebody get the scoop on him? and then heal him? Did you know that if you see red, and then imagine blue, it turns to purple, the color of spiritual leadership. Think Purple!

Best thing that ever happened to Rudy, who on 9/10 couldn't have been elected dog catcher in NYC, was 9/11. One can safely assume that from Rudy's point of view, the death of almost 3,000 people and destruction of the twin towers was well worth affording him the opportunity to resurrect his failing career, enabling him to become a multi-millionaire, not to mention, God forbid, our next president. What a guy. Come to think of it, except for blowing it big time, the same can be said of Bush.

It's always interesting to see how a politician chooses to spend his time. They all start saying the same stuff just before elections, but following them around months before really shows you where their true roots are. Ron Paul is out hitting the streets, talking to the common man, attending debates for a variety of different groups of people and delivering the same message everywhere he goes regardless of his audience. Giuliani is hitting up wealthy donors and has failed to address his questionable past. Three marriages, a daughter voting for a candidate other than her father, a divorce at a public event that was announced on the news before he talked about it with his wife? Where are this man's values? And if he has no values, how do we expect him to do his job as a diplomatic representative to other nations on our behalf? What message will we, as a people, convey to the world if we elect such a man? That we have no values.

    Hey Liz Dexic,

"Ron Paul is a religious fanatic..."

Incorrect. Ron Paul is a Christian. If you have ever "listened" to him speak, you would have learned that he is a well-spoken, intelligent doctor, too.

If you take the time to educate yourself about Dr. Paul, you would realize that your statement is erroneous at best.

"...who wants to prohibit women from obtaining safe abortions."

Wrong again - Ron Paul does not believe in abortion, but his position is that it is the "states" - not the "federal government" - that should determine whether or not abortion procedures should be legalized within each state. If this actually was to transpire, most women in the US would still be able to obtain an abortion. Maybe ten states would totally outlaw the procedure. I think that abortion should not be used as "birth control", and it is widely used as such.

"Guiliani is going to have a melt-down...a macaca moment, if you will."

Rudy is a puppet of the Federal Reserve and the NY Central Banking elite.

Please google "FIAT EMPIRE" and watch the entire movie.

EDUCATE YOURSELF. You are blinded by your youthful energy - put it to good use.

"I WANT him to be the Repuke nominee. And then the Evangelicals may form their own third party. THAT would be great...split the vote and the Dem. candidate is a shoo-in."

If you want any of the Democratic candidates, with the exception of Barack Obama or Mike Gravel, you really need to wake up and smell the coffee.

Hillary, Edwards, Richardson, et al, will simply force a tax and spend government on this country, and PLUMMET us into a worse situation than we are already in.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - educate yourself about these candidates.

Visit www.ronpaul2008.com - and learn why Dr. Paul is the only "LOGICAL" choice for president.

Thank you for considering my opinion.

    Cheers,

    Skaboy

Rudy is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after attempting to capitalize on the 9/11 tragedy.

As A former New Yorker, it is my most fervent wish that Rudy win the republican nomination. He would be the biggest gift to any opponent imaginable. I think we should be keeping our powder dry on this guy.

    Rudy is just plain creepy!
  • paulster · 2 years ago
I wonder, should he be elected, if Rudy will flip us the finger on camera or tell a senator to 'Go F himself?' His personality is along those lines. Rudy is a man of action...if he sets his mind to anthrax someone he'll see it through!
  • Linda · 2 years ago
You all have it wrong, Rudy is going to lose to the 1st woman president.

    Go Hillary!

Does this really surprise anyone? Rudy is starting his usual self-destruct (and expected) process....it will get worse. Like watching a ship go down...down.....dowwwwnnnnnn.......

Get it right this time, vote KICINICH!
  • Patricia A. Long · 2 years ago
When you see Giuliani, you see another Bush. Our voting machines(and the ones who control it) are the reason we are in the mess we have now. Bush did not win the election and neither will Giuliana, but the voting machines and system will make it happen unless we find some some way to doublecheck the voting machines. Look hard enough at Giuliani's face, and you will see Bush! A slickster!!!

The BEST Democratic candidate by far is Dennis Kucinich. The BEST Republican candidate by far is Ron Paul. If these two were to run against each other, which ever won, the country would be a lot better off.

Don't let the money over ride the truth this time! Vote Dennis Kucinich!!!
He has good workable plans on the table for America. For instance, instead of giving Blackwater mercenaries no bid contracts with our money we can get national health care!
    See www.kucinich.us

I voted for Kucinich in 2004 and I'll vote for him again. Guliani is a creepy sheister and his face is the same as Bush's in my mind as well. As for Hillary, I smell another Helms-Burton waiting to get signed. Frankly aside from Kucinich, Obama is the only other candidate that doesn't turn my stomach. As for Rudy, there are better excuses to call out of work with than something so high & mighty.

Vote Kucinich. We need a visionary and a socialist is better than keeping the 4th Reich going.
  • jane · 2 years ago
Why did Rudy choose to miss the debate? That's easy. Show me the money! It's ALWAYS about the bottom line. Ethics have fallen by the wayside. SAD but true. (Kucinich is the only viable candidate.)
  • Sue Noel · 2 years ago
In a country with sane voters Dennis Kucinich would be the only viable candidate. But this is not such a place. It gets worse every day. We are living in a fascist dictatorship in case anyone hasn't noticed. If you look up both "fascist" and "dictator" in Webster's, you'll see it's true.

I won't indulge you imbeciles who post under other people's names by continuing a "war of wits" with someone who is clearly unarmed. I assume you are "bill." Read a book sometime, but you probably aren't able. I don't have time to waste as you clearly do. Do you have a job? Or are you a Republican operative? If anyone is high on drugs, it would be you Bush-supporting, Lush Slimeball repeating hypocrites. No more from me, the real Sue Noel.

Bravo! Well done, Rudy is like an over filled balloon just waiting to be popped. He's a hot head, womanizer and he's racist. I think your video perfectly encapsulates who he is and where his priorities lie.
    Nicely done.

Guiliani is a GW puppet. A vote for Guiliani is a vote for a contributor to Bush. Rudy was asked to leave his home by his wife, asked to leave his government post in New York, and suddenly...though he rescued no-one...became a hero because he was not shocked by the destruction of the trade buildings, and actually visited the site.
America must be at a loss for heroes. Guess so, president who avoids military training and sends others to war, Silverstein into a two month lease on trade buildings awarded millions,(double indemnity clause, contracted by Jeb Bush insurance company), and Guiliani keeps quiet and views the horror show. He is a hero. We are once again exposed to Bush family values.

More effort needs to get out on the media as NY Fire Dept. stated: Rudy failed to obtain radios campatible with the police resulting in many deaths on 9-11. Rudy also stopped recovery efforts for remains when the cash in the basement was found.

Reading many of the comments i would just be repeating so many of them. Let me just say I think attacking Mr.Greenwald is crazy, he's just getting the truth out. I'm from NYC and Rudy is not someone you want leading this country. I was fooled by him on 911,(I flew out half an hour before the first tower was hit) as I live in CA now, but upon further investigating of "Americas Mayor" it became very clear, what i knew and what my friends from NYC told me, he's awful. Also I was very sad to find out that Hilary Clinton is just as dirty, and bad as the rest. We must choose Ron Paul, Dennis K., or Mike Gravel. This is our last chance to take our county back, before we become the terrorists of the world.

I am not surprised, since Giuliani's NYC record is one of hating black people. During the Patrick Dorismond crisis, I thought that was my OWN friend, Patrick Guerierre who had been shot. They lived very close to each other and matched the description. The moment I'd thought that I'd lost one of my friends because of the gun-happy NYPD? I began to panic. My Patrick was alive and well, but was very late to work that day, Mr. Dorismond did not fare so well. Anything black, mixed, Latino or even slightly beige in skin shade was repeatedly mocked, searched, or treated like trash during his administration. Giuliani is no friend of mine, and I'm an Irish woman from Brooklyn. My own boyfriend at the time--who was Italian, Black, Irish and Dutch from Savannah Georgia was given a ticket one time for standing on the W 4th street platform for having a bottle concealed with a paper bag. Guess what? It wasn't even beer, it was ROOT BEER. He still had to go down to Centre Street to fight the $125 quality of life "summons" in court. The judge threw it out, but if that had been a white guy? The cops would have seen the root beer label and let him off with a warning. 1994-2001 was a friggin' police state in NYC and many of my friends were harrassed. Hillary and Obama are my ticket, I hope they team up. And for those of you sitting on your behinds, you betta get up off your asses and VOTE these smug bastards OUT of office! Jim Crow is alive and well, and doing a nice little happy dance inside "America's Mayor." UGH

It all boils down to what Reagan did in 1988 bowing to pressure from the right: "Abolishing the Fairness Doctrine". This allowed channels like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to exist. Ninety two percent (92%) of radio talk show hosts are right wing persuasion. Public airwaves belong to the public and the fairness doctrine must be restored. Insist that the presidential candidates promise to restore the fairness doctrine and to bust the 5 media monopolies which control our thought process.
  • Linda · 2 years ago
Rudy has been away from NYC and in NH and Iowa too long to remember what black people are.
  • daniel casaletto · 2 years ago
None of the four Republican front runners were at this debate. Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fredrick Thompson, and Rudy J all had better things to do than adress the issues of black America that evening.

The sister debate at Howard University between Democratic canidates was also hosted by Tavis Smiley, all cannidates took part.
I now feel, more than ever that Kanye West spoke for me.

Actions speak louder than words. It is my prayer that the next president find integrity and honor the Constitution our forefathers had the foresight to write.... And not socialize with rich white women with hot bodies and forsake National issues such as the minority debates. someone please recruit Matthew Fogg from CARCLE for President...
