In studying the history of who's been paying taxes, I discovered that quietly oover the last 50 years corporations in cooperation with the government have slowly shifted the tax burden onto working people so that the revenues collected by the gov't has had a ratio of as much as 7.75 to 1(1983) it has been as low as 1:1(1938). Since the faith based organizations are doing such a stellar job of delivering services to the needy, the poor and the down trodden of our fair and priviliged country, perhaps we should all put our support behind these programs and the funding of these programs. Mike, after the national election of 2000 we witnessed the Supreme Court select a president and discovered that Florida's votes were "flipped" and thousands never counted. In 2004, Americans found out about a massive disenfranchisement of minority voters and sweeping vote stealing, -- what is being done or what can be done to stop this from happening again? I've watched all your movies, beginning with "Roger and me". I also agree that everybody in this country should have affordable health care. If you and I went to a private insurer and asked for a joint policy, however, I don't believe I'd be very happy because you are somewhat above an ideal medical weight and I am not. Therefore, my premium would be higher than if I got a policy on my own. Can you make a movie to inspire Americans to eat less and exercise more? Unless we do, I don't believe health care will ever be affordable.

I am a registered republican and consider my ideology to be conservative rooted. However, I am convinced that the GOP has never intended to anything about changing Roe v. Wade, but instead they play on ignorant people who will vote for them based upon that same argument. It seems to have worked for them over the last 28 years. Ronald Reagan is the last republican I have voted for. After that mistake, I decided the GOP were worse than "liberal", they are LIARS. Let's give Obama a chance. We could do a lot worse.

Do you or would you be interested in doing your next prodject about our returning Veterans? The Veterans Administration is so dysfunctional right now its sad. I'm a two tour combat Vet that has had to rob Peter to pay Paul, and the V.A. has giving me so much shit I should go into the fetilizer buisness. I have a service conected disabilty, and I have had to wait months to get seen through the V.A. If you could help that would be great!

Is the media choosing our candidates for America instead of being America's watchdog?
If you watch the Olympics you notice the media picks one contestant and discusses the ones they like and pretty much ignore the other contestants. I feel in this election, they are doing the same. The media picked Obama pretty early in the campaign and basically ignored all the others. Even asking a candidate who was ahead in the popular vote to step down. It's knee jerk journalism, eroding facts with feelings.
This is not Democracy, it is mediocrity.

It seemed to be a series of questions rather than conclusions--most of which the administration still refuses to answer (how come the Bin Laden clan got to fly back to Saudi Arabia when no-one else could fly and who profited by short-selling airline stocks being only two). I blew the whistle on a major grading scandal at the high school where I was teaching English. Now I'm out of a job and the crooks are still in. Know any good whistle blower case lawyers willing to work pro bono? I can't do this alone.
If you taught sky diving classes and tossed your students out of the plane without a parachute, that would be considered criminal. Well so is sending students out into society without an education. In fact it may be worse. A lot more people will be affected in much more serious ways!

Blame the victim. McCain wants to blame homeowners for the housing crisis and pretends that the unscruplous practices of the lenders had nothing to do with it. Obama wants to blame teachers for the poor performance of students as if broken homes, drugs, poverty, prenancy, and truancy can be factored into merit pay. I think both candidates need to be taken to task on both of these issues.

Why do people have to wait in line.. maximum 5 minutes is the normal waiting time where i work.

I was wondering if you've heard about the news last week that the The Justice Department has proposed a new domestic spying measure that would make it easier for state and local police to collect intelligence about Americans, share the sensitive data with federal agencies and retain it for at least 10 years.

I am one of many women who are abused in the legal system by husbands whom, for no other reason than to avoid paying child support and alimony, legally abuse both the woman and the children in the court system. My situation has been no less than outrageous. Have you heard or are you aware of the atrocities that exist in the legal system regarding this issue?? There has been domestic violence, arrests, etc. It keeps going until the attorney's have used up all the money, then they settle.

You have been instrumental in opening Americas eyes, do the same for the Family Court System. There is no where to turn parents and children who are caught in this nightmare judges have immunity and if you complain they can take custody from you unless you have thousands of dollars for an appeal. The Judges meet in chambers with the attorneys without the parties; decisions are made with no supporting reason, hearings are held off record so there is no account of the proceedings much of the time. Please I implore of you find out for yourself what goes on in these courtrooms.

The Family court system in Santa Clara county completely ignored the laws written by the state legislature, taking away my custody rights in violation of my 5th and 14th amendment rights, forcing me to hire an attorney who fleeced me. Michael I recently saw a documentary on the history of our insane (I think) punishment mode for the raising and using of Marijuana. I am appalled at the overreaction and layering of judgement on a substance that in my mind can be likened to alcohol.
In addition the plant destruction and incarceration of people costs all of us enormous amounts of money.

We voted for "change" in the primaries, but now we're finding out that Obama is waffling on withdrawing from the Iraq war, opening the possibility of offshore oil drilling, and has proposed a weak energy and climate plan that doesn't come anywhere near what we need. Based on the past two elections and the lies people still believe about Obama. it's quite evident that the masses fail to educate themselves on the candidates' platform or their backgrounds before casting their vote. And it's really sad when the less fortunate blindly vote against who or what would truly represent their own needs. We've seen the results of that ignorance, so what do you think about voters having to past a test so we at least know voters are making a somewhat educated choice? I could go into extensive details and back-up what I am stating with legal proof but in a nut shell (yes, this is the short version but still factual): I am currently living in Hernando County, FL. (which corruption rules). A few women in this county are sued every 2-3 months for frivolous cases by the same 'doctor' (Karl and Natalie Leibensperger - Karl does not work (former DO) he only sues women, and Natalie is the unlicensed 'OB/GYN', she does have a DO) and overseen by the same 'county judge' (Kurt Hitzemann).

This doctor (who is no longer licensed to practice medicine) is married to another so-called doctor who does practice OB/GYN without a license to do so. These two are very good friends with one of the "good old boys' club" judges here. These women set up appointments to be seen by this 'doctor', they are made to wait until they leave or have to reschedule and then are billed for this (not being seen and made to wait).

When you contact the 'doctor' in regards to the bill, he is vile, abusive and crude, refuses to listen, and then he sues you (it is very apparent that his only intentions are to sue you). My original bill was for $70.00, I am being sued for $400.00. When these women are sued (the info is public records), they are all labeled/ruled guilty by the same judge, and end up owing/paying TEN TIMES the amount of the amount of the law suit (TEN TIMES, never fails).

ALL of these women are self-employed (have their own businesses) AND own property. According to the Tampa Tribune and other media, these judges were selected to expedite foreclosures in Hernando County a few years ago. This 'doctor' purchases three to four homes/properties with a value ranging from $175K to 900K EVERY WEEK and then is able to pay off each mortgage in full and receives the deed/title to these properties and this all occurs THE FOLLOWING WEEK of purchase! (Again, this is all public info).

Now like the rest of these women, as a small (actually tiny) business owner, I do not have the funds to pay a lawyer to fight these maggots (that is why they do it). I own two properties, have two mortgages (one large and one that is approximately 1/4th the value of the property), owe HUGE taxes on both properties and home owner's insurance, and am behind on these bills due to lack of income and the inability to sell the properties even for a fraction of their worth (and they know that since this too is public information).

I had a 'pretrial mediation' hearing and asked for this judge to be recuse from this case, he denied it. My 'mediation' consisted of the 'judge', myself and the 'doctor', there were no witnesses allowed and no mediator! The 'judge' wanted to force me to say I owe this money; I explained that I had been a patient for over 3.5 years and never had billing/$ issues and always paid what I owed (which was over 21K for prenatal care, delivering my youngest child, postpartum, regular check-ups throughout the years etc.)

When the judge realized I would not be intimidated or tricked into saying that in his own words, "So you refuse to pay the money you owe My Gynecologist (Leibensperger ) for services rendered?!", I corrected him by stating there were no services rendered therefore there is not bill to pay and if there were services rendered, where are the results of my labs form the lab, not Leibensperger (although Leibensperger told me he could make up any record he wished).

Judge Hitzemann ignored my statement along with my TWENTY-ONE pages of documentations backing up what I was stating and continued to try to intimidate and trick me, but it did not work. I mentioned the media to him (the 'judge') and handed him his history with this 'doctor' and their frivolous, illegal law suits and he then claimed, "We are going to trial and I AM THE JUDGE. I will then determine the outcome of this law suit." This was a threat, not a legal statement.

I just want to say I own a auto shop in Springfield MO and on the side am building all electric cars "well converting cars to all electric" I would like to see you do something on power sources for them.
GM had the best batteries out there for the EV1 but sold the Patent to big oil.
The cars I build only have a 60 mile range with $2000.00 in lead acid batteries where the GM batteries would increase that to 300 miles.

Hey Mike you do great things and thanks for giving. I don't agree socialized medicine works. Canadians have waiting list for surgery, many come here. Germany don't have a paramedic service it is just a couple of guys riding around in a van, toss you in the back and hope you make it to the hospital. I think the feds should give every citizen (only) a vopucher for 12-15K every year for the healthcare company of their choice. By doing so, he has effectively altered (to suit his own personal belief system) the wishes of the legislature and therefore the people they respresent. Citizens won't know the efffect on their lives until they discover laws are not what they thought. Lets suggest that Senator Obama challenge McCain to a debate on the US Constitution. Knowledge of our nation's fundamental laws should be considered a requirement for office - more important than a politician's "experience." This would clearly address the claim from the McCain camp that Obama is a mere celebrity, not ready for office. At the very least the media should be prevailed upon to include such questions in the already scheduled debates.

It's really simple. Just imagine if instead having to get a plurality of gross positive votes to win an election, a candidate would have to win a plurality of net votes after the votes AGAINST them are subtracted from the votes FOR them. Think about the people who chose not to vote in 2004 because the didn't want to hurt the chances of "third parties" and didn't really support John Kerry.

If members of Congress had the same "benefits" afforded middle class Americans, i.e. a pension that is 1/10 of salary at retirement (age 65), medicare, and Social Security, they would do a better job of making laws that take care of us with our own money.

I think that the single most important issue is the completely ineffectual United Nations. They can't do anything because they mire themselves in procedure and paperwork and their procedures have multiple single person points of failure (a single person can ignore an email and stop aid to an entire country.) Michael - Please consider doing a film on the corruption in Family Courts throughout the country. There is no oversight and laws are rarely followed. Parents and childrens lives are ruined while the attorneys, evalutors and GALs are cashing in while judges watch. The citizens of this country will be horrified!

According to the Jim Hightower newsletter, the cost of all the infrastructure repair needed throughout the country is equal to the value of the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

Why don't the Democrats counter the tax criticism from the repugnicans with this fact. Imagine the economic stimulant and the number of jobs created if the tax cut were rescinded and all the money applied to infrastructure repair!

Why would anybody support a corporate puppet? Both candidates support the war, the Patriot Act and FISA. A smiling dancing puppet might be more appealing to the kids but it is still a puppet. Puppets don't have prinicples or integrity and either do the puppetmasters.

years ago the bush administration changed all policy references of hunger to "food insecure" (presumably to give the impression that they never go hungry - they just don't know when their next meal comes). when mccain did his appearances to vfw, military bases etc, he always claimed we were in iraq "for our national security" as if to imply to them it was all 911/terrorist related. Yet we all know iraq is more about "knowing where our next barrel of oil to feed our addiction will come from" - ie: oil security. (cont)

since mccain seems to talk 2 different points depending on which audience he is addressin. Once and for all, corner him and ask: out of 100%, when you talk of "national security" what percentage are do you attribute to bin laden, and what percentage are you attribute to the securing oil for the nation.

Question: It is reported that the USA staffs and maintains in excess of 735 military bases around the world. For what purpose? The American people need to have more information about this and to decide whether they really want their tax dollars spent in this way. In addition, rather than a continuous multiplication of military bases, why not get serious about creating a cabinet-level DEPARTMENT OF PEACE? Cheaper, more effective, would use fewer natural resources, etc.

Hi Michael, John McCain has chosen a woman, Palin, as his running mate. Newspapers and newscasters across the nation had narrowed it down to Romney, Ridge or Pawlenty. But I knew it would be one of the women who had made the short list. It made perfect sense to me. Pawlenty was just a ruse. Why couldn't the Democrats see this coming? If they continue to underestimate the Republican "War on Democrats" spin machine they will continue to get sucker-punched.

Delight - They aren't going to put her up against Biden, but Obama. (Cheney was the okeydoke for Bush, Palin in the okeydoke for McCain.) Is there any way you help our Environmental Illness doctors? A good book to read about someone who had to fight a pesticide company in court is "Canary in the Courtroom." It is an important read.

I'd like to see Naomi Wolf interviewed. I'm reading her books, "The Beauty Myth" (which explains how and why women are taught to dislike their physicality) and "The End of America" (which lays out the methods used by authoritarians to undermine democracy). Both are are original, thoughtful, and thoroughly researched. I think she would provide an electric interview.

I would just like to comment on the fact that Mr mooore is not focusing on the new world order subject given that the first Bush Sr. gave a speech on it, and the American people has no understanding as to what it means or its implications. Is it still a possibility given the fact that Obama is the president. That concerns me because the North American Union is a precept of the new World Order.
