Brave New Films: Open Letter From A Republican Rips FOX Over Their Unfair Treatment of Ron Paul During NH Debate

  • Political_Incorrectness · 2 years ago
I think that he finally woke up to the garbage of the neo-cons and I hope he leaves them. We have won another member, plenty more to go.
  • Josh · 2 years ago
Who cares if he's republican or democrat Grayson? That misses the point entirely. It's either a clear attempt at misdirection or a pointless nonsequiter. The bigger issue is did FOX news show a clear bias towards any pf the Republican Presidential candidates. There is some pretty damning evidence that they did, so unless you believe otherwise the next thing to do is to decide whether you can stomach that sort of behavior. I lost a taste for FOX years ago for their blatent and numerous misrepresentations of "fact." Now they may be directly trying to influence the outcome of elections by micromanaging the time candidates speak, tailoring questions to candidates that play to strengths and weaknesses based on their personal preferences, and suggesting that their own poll results are skewed because multiple Ron Paul's fan base made a miraculous effort to vote multitudes of times. Now, if only I can find a way to link Carl Rove to this...
  • Josh · 2 years ago
Still missing the point. I don't care whether he's a republican or not. Try posting about how FOX news didn't play favorites, or about how it doesn't matter.

"Bin Laden sounds like a front runner for the democrat party"
actually, assclown, bin laden LOVES your tin idol's debacle of a foreign policy in iraq which, has given him a rallying cry and a recruitment center. the last thing bin laden and al qaeda want is the united states out of iraq. therefore, i would not be surprised in the least if in his next video bin laden appears in front of a banner proclaiming "remember 9-11, vote for 'america's mayor' julie-annie"

In addition to Ron Paul's strong showing in the post-debate telephone poll, his classic libertarian positions also drew loud applause from the studio audience, particularly his anti-war statements.

It was amazing to watch Chris Wallace and the other Fox moderators openly insult and ridicule Paul when it was clearly evident a large portion of the live audience supported him.

I agree with a previous message posting that it wasn't just Fox moderators attacking Paul, but the director, camera operators and sound crew also tried to make him look like a raving fool. I could almost swear one of the final split screen edits depicts a smirking Rudy Giuliani sending hand signals to a moderator to call on him after Paul finishes answering a question.

why does'nt somebody like keith olbermann pick this story up ... maybe his battle with fox is just a ruse ????
  • Tom McCarthy · 2 years ago
Up untill recently I had been faithful to Fox for what I believed was truly fair and balanced news. What an eye opener these last few weeks of aggressive, confrontational, accusatory exchanges directed against Ron Paul have been. Fox for me as a trusted news source is done. All of this anger towards Ron Paul is obviously fear driven but Why? Now that is THE question.

Ok, once and for all here is a little help for the illiterate "citizens" who like to throw around terms they simply do not understand:

    Liberal:

    1. favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs.
    2. (often initial capital letter) noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.
    3. of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism.
    4. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties

    Conservative:

    1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.

    2. cautiously moderate or purposefully low: a conservative estimate.

    3. traditional in style or manner; avoiding novelty or showiness: conservative suit.

Stop using the terms just to denigrate anyone who doesn't wear the same color shirt you do when you push that little button you refer to as democracy. It isn't about being on the same football team, or driving the same truck model, it is about using that hunk of flesh above your flapping jaw and between your covered ears.

Hi. This one's coming all the way from India. And this opinion is as neutral as it gets. I think Ron Paul has hit the spot. He's right about everything he's said in the video above. The reason there is growing resentment about America everywhere else in the world is because America meddles in everyone's affairs. If America as a nation buckles up and comes across as a superpower which practices peace, it'll go a long way in usurping the support the terrorists get both militarily and financially.

i am a democrat but if i was a republican i would support ron paul ...it is a shame that the pundits on fox news get to direct who won a debate and not let the numbers speak for themselves...if more republican conservatives spoke out on this kind of bias instead of letting fox get away with it ...maybe it would change, its kinda funny how half the people in the country let fox speak for them ...when they are just a bunch of bush suck ups
  • Sean Delgado · 2 years ago
Fox News is a propaganda machine for the Bush administration. I do admit to watching FoxNews, but only to watch the ridiculousness of the whole network. They come up with names that makes it into the mainstream of republican talk. I'll give you examples, limousine liberals, cut and runners and many more. The station has made the word liberal bad. They view that as not good and when people of O'reilly always talk about the far left or the left wing media, he must know that Foxnews is biased, shouldn't he?
  • DenisL · 2 years ago
I try very hard to respect my friends’ opinions on Iraq and Bush and Hillary. It can be hard at times.
The tradition is that the moderators of a debate should be perceived as being unbiased. I must say they were doing their best with many of the candidates to throw zingers at them and to catch them off card. They did this with Giuliani, Romney, McCain, and Paul. Huckabee benefited the most from their approach. In my opinion the winners of the debate in rank order were:
    1. Paul
    2. Huckabee
    3. McCain
    4. Giuliani
    5. Romney
    6. The rest.

It was fun to watch. I learned a lot

Still given all of the above, laughing into the microphone is a tactic that is quite rude. I hope that Paul and McCain do not do it next time Giuliani says that the world is just like NY City and that he will manage and win in Iraq like he did in NY. And that unlike Lincoln, he does NOT think the Bill of Rights is very important during war time. Or that water boarding is NOT REAL torture. That would be quite hilarious but I do think that McCain, Paul and the others will have the courtesy and restraint to hide their obvious amusement!

I am reminded more and more as I get older about what my father used to say about politicians (I eventually found that he stole this from Spencer Tracy who said it first in a 1946 movie.): “When you get right down to it, What is the only real difference between a Democrat or Republican or any other politician?” ……… “One is in office and the other is OUT of office.” ….. I am somehow comforted that for 220 years through a LOT of turmoil, our system of government has managed to keep working. I somehow think that it will survive blogs on the internet, Fox News, Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee, and heck, maybe even heaven forbid, Hillary Clinton!
  • A conservative · 2 years ago
I am a conservative and was completely pissed off about the way Fox framed the questions and pretty much mocked Ron Paul during and after the debate. It was the kind of thing you would expect from bloggers, not a mainstream news company.
  • Haywud Jablomei · 2 years ago
What were you doing watching FOX News anyway? All the haters on here should stick to CNN (Communist News Network) or one of the other leftist propaganda agencies. They'll tell you what you want to hear.
  • David Lev · 2 years ago
Oh, Ron Paul, I coulde just HUG you.

This is the kind of Republican I like. He's obviously intelligent and knows what the hell he's talking about.

No wonder he gets more popular every time people hear him speak
  • Me · 2 years ago
"What's fascinating is how you can practically feel a republican losing faith in FOX and realizing what a biased propaganda channel they really are as he watched their supposedly unbiased"

What's fascinating is how you can practically feel that you believe anyone who is a republican is a mindless drone of the fox news channel.

    Go fuck yourself.
  • Fez · 2 years ago
@Grayson: With all due respect, you're wrong.

If we are to place the liberal / conservative divide squarely upon whether or not an individual believes the war is justified and/or righteous, and that we should be there, then you my friend find yourself in a 28% minority.

You are doing your political ideaology a disservice to categorize it that way. I suggest you smarten up and learn what's actually been going on over there like the rest of us have.
  • Hank · 2 years ago
As someone who voted for Bush-twice, I feel very embarrassed to have been so gullible but, in my defense, I felt I was voting for the lesser of two evils. The fact of the matter was that I voted for evil anyway. I have been watching this Ron Paul, first with disdain and skepticism followed by admiration of his unwavering defense of the Constitution (the manuscript that set a nation free). Something happened as I kept watching the debates and reading how the GOP wanted to keep him from the debates. I kept wondering why they were trying to silence him so I delved further. I have been "born again" in a political sense. Once where I saw neo-conservatism and liberalism as the only options, here comes this Constitutional conservative to give me new hope for my country which is on the verge of bankruptcy and fascism. You can't help but love the message of freedom, of reclaiming our sovereign individuality as human beings and reempowerment of the PEOPLE over GOVERNMENT. I heard you, Ron Paul, over the din of lies and contortions. You have my vote.
  • Jack Oak · 2 years ago
The neo-cons sold themselves to America on a crafted image of freedom, prosperity, and unity. Ron Paul rips off the mask of that and reveals their true intent: oil-garchy, corruption, and propaganda. Fox News was that leg without which the three-legged neo-con throne will fall.

That's why now it's OK for Republicans to hate Republicans. Can their new face, Fred Thompson, fool us once again?
  • Jon · 2 years ago
raziorizzo, do you have a life? How do you find time to come hear and comment on all of these?
  • Kent · 2 years ago
I'm blown away with Ron Paul's message of liberty. I voted solid Republican for over three decades. Even when I had to hold my nose to do it because the Republican candidate was "the lesser of two evils." I couldn't do it anymore with Bush II. With his PATRIOT Act, the undeclared war in Iraq and general disdain for the people's contract with the government that is the Constitution.

Can you imagine we could get as president someone with principles? If Ron Paul doesn't get the Republican nomination I'll write his name in.
  • Chubs · 2 years ago
Literate's point about people misusing the terms "liberal" and "conservative" is correct, but his definitions, as they apply to political position, are not.

A conservative political stance supports less government and more personal accountability. The lean is toward a system where the federal government does less (thus reducing spending), ideally allowing for lower taxation. In other words... "conservative" government has a conservative hand that does little and needs little support.

The "liberal" position supports more government intervention in an attempt to level the playing field. State-run health care, welfare, social security, and public education are all products of a more liberal stance. More government inevitably means more taxation to support said programs.

By Literate's definition, if a more liberal government were put in place and if it were to last for some time, eventually supporters of that government could be labelled as "conservative" simply because they are "disposed to preserving existing conditions". That doesn't make any sense at all. Conservatism and liberalism are all about the government's role in our lives.

Many of today's Republicans are not true conservatives by any measure. It is a strange breed that thinks cutting taxes and inflating the size of government somehow go together. You can't have it both ways. You can either increase the size of government and require more money from the people to support it, or you can reduce the size of government and reduce taxation. Anything else leads to massive national debt.
  • Chubs · 2 years ago
    Grayson,

You are far from correct. An anti-war position is a classically conservative position. You really need to read your history. The Republican Party has traditionally supported non-intervention, except in the case of defense. Pre-emptive war is the product of the neo-conservatives of the past 15 years. Neo-conservatives are -not- conservative by any means. They are -liberals- by definition when it comes to spending and the power of the federal government.

  • Backwards One · 2 years ago
I just want to note that part of Ron Paul's response when talking about airport security was cut off on my tv. I was watching the Fox News channel on Comcast Cable in Centre County, Pennsylvania. During his response, the channel went black - no video no audio. I checked other channels to see if it was the channel or my cable and the other channels were fine. The channel came back on after Ron Paul was finished speaking.

The Repugs do not even know what a conservative is anymore. Well except for the ones at the last debate who cheered Ron Paul.
Univision highest viewership for any debate this year.
Run away asswiperizzo. You act like a fascist. You must think rassling is real, you are so clueless, chickenhawk.

I keep hearing from Idiots that Ron Paul only ranks 4% in the polls. So tell me why He/ Ron Paul is winning debates by 33%. The fact is some people HATE the US Constsitution which Ron Paul stands for. If you hate the US Constitution and what it stands for I say you HATE America and should move your ass to Communist China!

The Idiots spouting that Ron Paul's theory that America was responsible for 911 are really brain dead to say the least. I suggest the ignorant people that whole-heartedly support pre-emptive war without just cause should really read books the CIA publishs about Foriegn policy BLOWBACK.

People that keep spouting the war montra are not well read on Foriegn policy history but then again insane people have selective reading which supports their already pre-disposed thought patterns

Insanity: a : extreme folly or unreasonableness b : something utterly foolish or unreasonable

I agree with everything Paul says 1000%. He's definitely got my vote.

And by the way , You still didn't answer my question. "Do you want to see an American victory in Iraq?" Simple yes or no by Raziorizzo

I will answer that yes, it is a simple question from a simple chickenhawk mind.

As for victory, WE WON of course cause we have the best military in the world and Saddam is dead.
    Time to come home.
Do not worry by your comments you still do not qualify for military service.

I say this with all seriousness. The country will probably disintegrate and be carved up the Chinese if Ron Paul does not win. It will take time, but we are on the road to perdition.

America needs Ron Paul more than ever, and everyone who supports Ron Paul loves him as he is the closest thing to family we have ever seen in government.

Ron Paul, for what is just, what is right, and what is our Nation's root modus, the Constitution and Freedom and Liberty for All.

Hurray for Ron Paul! I'm an Independant but this man has my vote today!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Mary Ellen Dunlap · 2 years ago
As an Independant voter, I watch all of the debates both Democrat and Republican to give myself a true knowledge of what each one stands for. The fact that over 3 million people watched Fox News moderator disrespect Ron Paul for wanting to go back to the Constitution of the United States will sway the voters for sure. But not neccessarily towards the Republican front runners. And certainly not to be loyal Fox News to much more than making up their own minds. You see, we're a lot smarter than you give us credit for. We are seeing for ourselves who we can trust. And who is feeding us propaganda.
  • Kyle · 2 years ago
It's fairly simple. They don't want him to win, so they'll do their best to make him look like a loon. Quite frankly, I don't think he'll be allowed to win - and by that, I mean all the public has to do is be receptive to CNN/FOX NEWS/his opponents's jabs at him along that line. You can see it already: "Withdrawl from Iraq is appeasement, Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler. Look what happened. Total rubbish." Now the ADL wants to call Paul out on receiving $500 from Don Black of Stormfront, which amounts to les than 1% of total contributions. So what's next? Stay tuned, I'm sure there will be more attempts to discredit him along the way...TPTB, the one's who are selling out this country, do not want Paul in office. It is for that very reason that we should support him.
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
Ron Paul is a fringe lunatic and all progressives should be more frightened of him then anyone. Thankfully, the overwhelming majority see through his anti-war straw man issue and recognize him for the Scalia strict-constitutionalist, states-rights racist bigot that he really is.
