    Wow...

I wish I could move to Norway.
  • MikeInSanJose · 2 years ago
They didn't talk about recidivism rate or what the next level of punishment or incarceration is for repeat offenders. That's gonna be the republican's chief line of attack if they hear about this. "How can they let this guy, this murderer, go to work among the general population? What happens WHEN (not 'if') he loses his temper and kills again?"

I wonder if I could go visit Norway, commit a crime, and get the same deal those criminals got... cuz it sux trying to make a living in the US.
  • Joel · 2 years ago
Notice that there were no ethnic minorities shown in the clip? That's because Norway is one of the most racist countries in the world. Nice little Utopia, huh.

How could Moore have possibly overlooked this Paradise. Note that most of the video time was spent on the Island of prisoners. The segment was so long that I thought Michael Moore and the Crew were going to move in with the double chain saw murderer and the pedophile. What a lovely place.

I'm curious about their immigration policy and
    population numbers.
  • evilroy · 2 years ago
Like all liberals Moore says things like " . . .the gov't will buy you a ____ . . .", and " . . .____ is paid for by the gov't". Where do you people think the gov't gets ALL of it's money? From it's citizens as taxes at the end of a gun. There is a finite amount of money in America, and we earn ALL of it. What would you think about a person who brags about the fact that they get all their bills paid for by their parents--and their parents get the money by robbing banks? Is that an admirable person? What's the difference between that and a gov't forcibly relieving citizens of their money and giving it to others?
  • Skyephoenix · 2 years ago
No one FORCES the Norwegians. Did you even watch this evilroy? And the comment about "natzis" we see the intelligence level of the right. Unfortunately you Cannot immigrate, if fact you can't even become a citizen through marriage. Do you consider African or Latin American countries racist for not having Anglos, Joel? Low population (with good birth control policies and high support for education) and yes they tax -the filthy rich. Taxes for the average Norwegian are LOWER than the US when the free gov't services are factored in. It is the parasite 5% of super rich that could be taxed to provide for the lowest 20% here. The only bad thing is the weather -cold-and they don't allow Americans to immigrate-we're the Mexicans to them. So much for "love it or leave it."
  • Sp · 2 years ago
Mike in SanJose- With that consciousness I see why the US rate of incarceration is @20 times ANY OTHER COUNTRY per capita. Recidivism is high because prisons are a corporate business. One goes back to prison for "association" (being seen withanother felon even one's spouse, or having a beer in your house, or forgetting to call in at the right time. You are clueless and probly believe the Fox News that "prisons are like country clubs" They are the most dehumanizing experience ever - except w/e it is that's your excuse for no humanity.

Please, lets not lets get carried away at how fantastic and free the healthcare system is in the UK.
It MAY be free...but its problem with aseptic technique and its application is killing thousands of people every year.
And what is not generally mentioned is that a compulsory deduction is made in wages for National Insurance,
so the service is only free if you have not paid into the National Insurance scheme by not working in the UK

This is a wonderful video. However, your visitors need a history lesson.

Anonymous u guys r all natzis? Get an education? Philosophically, Nazism is 180 degrees from Socialism. People who admire this culture lean towards Socialism, not Nazism.

    Joel, your comment
Notice that there were no ethnic minorities shown in the clip? That's because Norway is one of the most racist countries in the world. Nice little Utopia, huh is an ignorant attempt at satire. Scandinavia is the most progressive country in the world.

Having visited Scandinavia many times, I can assure you that the people there are welcoming of many different minorities. Have you ever been there? No? Then your comment is fallacious. It is an idyllic society. My 20-year study of Norway's and Sweden's history demonstrates that they have practiced egalitarianism between the sexes since the Viking age. In fact, the word "law" derives from Old Norse. They were one of the first European cultures to develop a judicial system. These countries demonstrate great care for the aged, while Americans are left on their own to become bankrupt in caring for aged parents.

During WWII, the Norwegians fought hard for their freedom against Hitler, who could never completely take over Norway because of their hatred for the Nazis. Study your history: Norway was a staunch ally of the U.S.

Accordingly, both your comments about the Norwegians being "natzis" are patently ignorant. You notice that the Scandinavian literacy rate is the highest in the world. John and Anonymous, what does your misspelling and inability to create a simple, grammatically correct sentence and basic understanding of history (WWII) say about the education our country provides our children?
  • Norman Miller · 2 years ago
Go to Norway. It isn't the panacea that Moore suggests. This guy is such a phoney and a fraud. Just go visit Norway and see for yourself. Don't let this propaganda define your view, visit Norway and see for yourself. Michael Moore is an idiot.
  • Ilektra · 2 years ago
I agree with you Norman Miller. Norway has A LOT of social problems, oil problems and lets not forget who kills whales on this planet. But, you have to admit that this country has taken a step further in social security and civil health managment as all Scandinavian countries have. So Moore is not that much of an idiot. He does tell the truth... partially. He hides the bad stuff when it suits him. But while you are suggesting for people to go to Norway so they can have a better opinion on the subject, shouldn't you also see Michael Moore's documentaries with another eye too? I mean, try and see where the facts he presents are actually facts and don't discard EVERYTHING he says, You become just as narrow minded as you accuse him of being...
  • Magnus · 2 years ago
Joel - No ethnic minorities? Well, as you could see, most of Moore's clip was from a prison, and unlike in the US, we don't lock up only our minorities.

Typically, it has been pointed out on this site that Norway has high taxes, as if that somehow nullifies Moore's point. In fact, when you subtract vital government payouts, such as health care, taxes in Norway are on average lower than in the US. One can argue that in America you can at least choose if you'd like to pay for health care, but in truth, who wouldn't pay for it? So the point is moot.

So, for less taxes, we get more government services, higher wages and a better standard of living than Americans. Life's a b***h, ain't it?

Oh, and I'm not anti-American at all. I've lived in the US for a large part of my life, and love the country. It just annoys me when ignorant fools claim to speak the truth on these message boards. Educate yourselves, and if you'd still choose the American system, so be it.

Just think about this. When I lived in the US, a Norwegian person I knew needed some serious surgery. It amounted to $80,000, and someone asked him how the h*ll he would pay for it, seeing as he had no health insurance. "Weeeell", he answered, "the Norwegian government'll take care of it. It's why I pay taxes, isn't it?".

So, without adding to his premium, and without having to pay a dime, the government took care of the bill, no questions asked.

I know which system I'd choose.
  • Tom · 2 years ago
Call it racism, but countries such as Norway would never work if they were populated with greater numbers of the darker races. I've been all over Europe, Canada, Australia, and am an American. The worst states in the US typically have the highest populations of blacks or latinos. The worst countries in the world are typically populated with majority black or latino races. You do the math.
  • Erik · 2 years ago
About oil, the norwegians do have a large oil and gas reserve, but all the profits from that is put on a very long term oil and gas fund. They aren't using that money, it's valued at $360 million one of the largest investments funds in the world.
  • GJ · 2 years ago
Norway of course are one of the richest nations in the world because of oil wealth.

The UN just put Norway in 2nd place and Iceland in 1st place. Scandinavians seem to take the best care of their people.

You do the Math you red neck f*ck. I am white and I am offended by your comments. Your one of the reasons why you live in such a poor country is because of people like you. Look beyond the color of someone skin and look to other factors which may contribute to their status.

The only thing wrong about this film is the weather. The weather here is much worse than depicted in the film.
    Everything else is true.
  • nate · 2 years ago
    Norman Miller:

I did go to Norway, and it was wonderful. Of course, when I went, the weather was nice, and I only stayed a few days, but everyone there seemed very happy, and it seemed like a truly affluent country. My only complaint was that the food was for the most part a bit bland. The people I talked to described taxes very similar to the taxes I pay here in the US, and they loved the health care and educational system there, which is all free (yes, you can go to college for free there).
  • Xora · 2 years ago
How much health care could US buy for all the money they've put into Irak war?
  • James · 2 years ago
Wait. This place has free college too?
Anyone know anything about how credible the schools are?
  • Patrick · 2 years ago
I visited Europe for about two years and spent time in Norway - very beautiful country with friendly people. They do have incredible health care, however I recall a conversation I had with a local Norwegian one night. He stated that no one picks their profession in life and that it is determined by the government. He went on to state his brother became a drug addict and killed himself because he became dissatisfied with his position in the system. Yikes.

Call me crazy, but I would NEVER give up my personal freedom and liberty for ANYTHING, be it for personal safety from terrorism or quality health care.

I never really taken Micheal Moor seriously anyway. He is to extreme liberalism as Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are to extreme conservatism. And if you don't see that, well, you already have taken a drink of the kool-aid so to speak.

    To Tom:

I'll tell you my point... ol' white man..... I live in Spain, which is THE latino country... and our health care system... our educational system... our general culture and living is faaaaar way better than any state in the US (including those were most of WASPs live...).

Most of us know where most of the countries are.... and I guess you are now trying to find Spain in a map somewhere between Mexico and Argetina... well, I'll tell you something... try looking in Western Europe (ah, and if you come here on holidays, please tell the doctor who is takking care of you at no cost... that he is a poor "darker races" member, who deserves to live in a non developed country... probably he will be happy to hear that from an assho...).

Oh, just one more thing... I've been living in NY, MN, CA... UK, Germany... maybe I know what I'm talking about.
  • steve luiting · 2 years ago
How come I can't just choose another countries healthcare services? How come I can't get paid and work in Euros instead of watching my dollars loose value as I type this. This would give the people "real" power if we weren't forced to live under a system provided by the rich and powerful who don't care about me.

To the Scandinavian posters (in my experience, very fine people) on this forum I must apologize for my American brethren that feel that everything good comes from America and all of the other countries are evil. I have never been to Norway or Sweden but I am sure that the people would have thrown out the system years ago if it wasn't working. In the video, your country looks very beautiful but I'm not sure that I could put up with the winters. You must be very hardy people.
  • Jan Hallvard · 2 years ago
Patrick: Are you kidding me? I live in Norway, and every decides for them selves what they want to become. It's a system based on grades, and those with the best grades get to choose first. There is also a quota system where people from the northern parts of norway get to choose some places before everyone else to make sure that even places with few inhabitants get a population with a fairly varied education.

Everything in this film is true. The one "major" social problem in Norway is narcotics and alcohol. Also the elderly could get better service, and the educational system could be better. Also we should have better infrastructure (roads that are not in the vicinity of large cities are usually small and have a low standard).. Other than that Norway is a nice country. The best thing about Norway is that the government tries to make it an equal country for all. No matter race, color, political/religious views or gender.

  • Lameo · 2 years ago
    Ok,
    1) Norway is GREAT
    2) Not alot of other races in Norway ? Mostly...uhhh white?
    3) Someone forgot to tell you what the income is Norway(look it up). Or that the majority are what we call in the US "moderate to upper" income.
    4) Whats the size of Norway in people.

The reason mr. Moore forgot this is because its not a valid comparison. Any 3rd grade student would realize this. Am I envious of Norway? Yes. Where do you live mr. moore? Do I think we can learn from Norway? Yes. When get rid of the disperate cultures and races, remove 95% of our population, and make socialism and taxes Job 1 then you can compare Norway.
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
Unfortunately the "compassionate" Ayn Rand disciples here fail to understand Mr. Moore's point. That our system is broken and unfair and that common decency should dictate that everyone deserves quality health care, no matter what their circumstances in life and that everyone gets that . . . except us. But hey, 47 million uninsured, 35 million going hungry, what the hell. That's America. You fall through the cracks . . who cares.
  • Michael · 2 years ago
So let me get this straight.... it's laudable to have murderers and butchers, people that have killed with chainsaws live on a nice property for 4 years and chill out? How is this equal rights? What about the rights of the people they killed?

Why is there happy music to show how murderers get light punishments like it's a good thing?

Hello, are you people all in 1st grade or something? This country only has 4.7 million people. That's half the size of New York City. Don't you think it is a little easier to maintain than the U.S. which has 75 times that amount at 300 million, with 20 million illegal aliens draining the system? It is also 90% white, and if you don't think that makes a difference, point me to a country that is 90% black that isn't a complete dump. But don't worry, now that the U.S. is in decline, it will no longer be the garbage dump for the dregs of the rest of the worlds impoverished. All these nice neat little countries will be filled will hordes of uneducated illegal immigrants.
  • J-P · 2 years ago
Americans, you've got to wake up and realize what's going on in your country. Turn off Fox News, Glenn Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh and all the rest. The corporate special interests have hijacked your country.

America is still a great place to live, but mainly for the rich. If you're middle-class, you're slowly being squeezed more and more every year and if you're poor, watch out, you'd be better off in almost any other Western industrialized country (except maybe the UK, which seems to be following the same leo-liberal, big-business plan that America is following)

It's tragic that the wealthiest country in the world has such poverty and yet in election after election millions of struggling, working class Americans keep voting Republican. If you haven't already realized it - the Republicans are the party of Big Business, tax breaks for the rich and cuts to all social programs (except hand-outs to large corporations, of course - but hey, that's just capitalism at work, right?)

But is it any wonder that in a country where the 'free market' is king, the rich are the ones who make the all rules????
  • bob · 2 years ago
A couple points here that need to be made since they have been glossed over.
#1 - compulsory military service all males age 18 - 44 and reserve obligation to age 35-60.

They have the 118th lowest pop in the world, and are about the size of New Mexico.
This wonderful system of theirs, eats up over 41% of their governmental budget.
Right now, their money comes from oil and gas accounting for one-third of exports, Only Saudi Arabia and Russia export more oil than Norway.

However, those gas reserves are drying up and the country is now trying to contain it's extensive welfare system. They can't afford their welfare, health care etc and are facing future monetary problems unprecedented in the country.
They don't even have 1/2 the population of Manhattan, yet they have $264.4 billion to "help" their people.

Anyone who thinks for a minute that the US can do the same, with it's population and comparatively low taxes, non mandatory military and non government run industry better think again.

Norway has a constitutional monarchy, it is not a democracy.
If Michael Moore really wants to join the military and live in a monarchy he should move. But he doesn't does he?
Americans are free, in Norway, you really have no idea what that means and what it is worth.

For those who think it's greener on the other side of the pond, I suggest you renounce your US citizenship and go live in Norway. In a year you'll be begging to come back and I hope you wait in line like the rest of the world who is trying to obtain US citizenship.

Well, most if not all of your third world countries are occupied by "darker race" people, ask yourself WHY? If i were to take away a well balanced and prosperous economy in your beautiful non-violent communities with no spots in them, constantly project negative images of your kind in the media, ship drugs into your community, and dumd down your educational system, and make the rest of the world believe that its all your fault, What do you think would happen to your race? Its easy to look at the surface and point fingers but its hard to critically think? World goverments are making ethnic specific bioweapons and please do your homework think before you judge. And if you still refuse to believe, the next time you go to your church, temple, synagogue and sit before a God you say you believe in and that is all compassionate to everyone, make sure you know what god you are praying to.

William S. Cohen Secretary of Defense. At a counter-terrorism conference. Quoted from DoD News Briefing, from a Q & A at the 'Conference on Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and U.S. Strategy', University of Georgia, Athens. April 28th, 1997
"There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least. Alvin Toeffler has written about this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. Others are engaging even in an eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves.

So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important."

I'm from Canada but did spend a few years in the U.S. working and have experienced both systems, and for the most part what Moore depicts is accurate. Our Canadian Parliament however has been infiltrated by corporateers who keep pressing for a partially private system, and are doing everything in their power to compromise our current successful model. Why? Because they smell the money and are most certainly being greased by the same lobbyists that have corrupted the U.S. system. I can assure you, there would be blood in the streets if an attempt were made to shift to a private model. As an American citizenry I do think you need to look at other successful models. It does appear the private sector has gone to great lengths to villanize National Healthcare, and to the extent that its been coined COMMIE healthcare by its citizens is disturbing. Even if you haven't experienced both systems,, the concept of a for profit healthcare system is not only intellectually absurd, but also morally repulsive.

I hate to say I already knew all of that, but I did... except what I only suspected... the very last sentence, "The United States does not meet Norway's minimum humanitarian standards in prisons." Funny but true!

There is a film out there on Free Speech TV documenting the differences between several country's prison systems... USA, Canada, Japan, China, Norway. It's interesting to see how different they all are. It's interesting to note the USA has the worst crime statistics. USA's jails rehab by torture and violence. Japan rehabs by coersion and discrace, China rehabs by making jail just like military boot camp, and Norway rehabs by heaping on doses of love and flowers and a happy fairy tale life. (I'm sure this was cut because other documentaries have already presented this subject.)

norwegian , you just don't get it. Your comparing your crime rates with ours. It's like comparing a mouse to an elephant. We have so many more people here you couldn't even begin to imagine it in your sheltered little world.
All whites? We have every race, creed and religion on the books here. Your country is like 1/10 th of one our more populated states.
More guns? I doubt it highly. The New York Police Department alone constitutes the 13th largest army in the world alone.

Living in a democracy is free, do they tell you to believe that living in a monarchy is free? get a dictionary, you need help.
Funny how all my information is fact not some pie in the sky nonsense. I even quoted the figures. I expect your next comment would be pictured with you sticking your fingers in your ears saying I can't hear you.

I gave serious facts to this piece of work that Moore did. All it has been met with is intolerances, innuendo, and misguided presumptions by you.
Simply put, your system of health care may be fine for you in Norway, but it will not work here. We don't have the oil that you do and the ability to toss 40% of the GNP at health care issues when there are competitive markets here.
Just for yoru information on the mastermind of this video, here is his health care plan.

1.Every resident of the United States must have free, universal health care for life.
2.All health insurance companies must be
    abolished.
    3.Pharmaceutical companies must be strictly

Hey "Norwegian", I am an Australian of Vikng decent, so I guess I have the best of both worlds, sunshine, plenty of room to rape pillage and plunder and plenty of beer. I would love to visit Norway and Iceland and maybe Finland too someday. For some the reality that the US is not the centre of the universe is a little hard to digest, I would put it closer to the end of the earths digestive tract.
  • Eyes Wide Open · 2 years ago
Australian peasant, if you think that of our country you either have never travelled outside your own suburb or you are an immigrant who misses "home". To deny that the OZ is one of the best countries on the planet for a plethora of reasons is delusional at best. In fact i think if you said what you bravely say here from your keyboard in public, someone may well hang you by the neck until you are dead with the Aussie flag from the nearest gum tree. (that would be the violence issues you mentioned?)

hey Baaarb (Bob) what you dont seem to understand is that the rest of the world dont give a shit what you have or dont have in the US. The US is a shithole fascist dictatorship warmonger on the verge of collapse both financially and socially. The US "experiment" has failed dismally and apparently everyone in the world knows it except you yanks? Sorry to burst your "housing" bubble BAAAARB
  • Eyes Wide Open · 2 years ago
Spot on "anonymous" what yanks like BAAARB dont get is that not everything is about how BIG it is but is calculated on a per capita basis. For instance us Aussies went into East Timor to free those peole from the tyranny of 200million Indonesians/Muslims, our "ally" the "mighty" US offered us "logistical" support only. So a nation of 20 million, with a combined military of 50,000 stepped up to the plate to a nation of 200 million, and they went away. Now as a comparison a country of 300m (US) has just spent 4yrs trying to overcome a city of what 1 million? (Baghdad) who have been under sanctions for 10yrs and whos military was destroyed in 1st The Gulf war...and the US are getting flogged, even given their Apaches, F-16's, M1A2's and all their other BIG STUFF. What it comes down to is quality not quantity BAARB

Yeah Oz Peasant, our health system could be better, but hey, in the US if you dont have insurance and walk into a hospital like one motorcyclist who following an accident had a tree limb through his back and protruding out his chest, they will simply say sorry, piss off.
I like the Sultan of Brunei's system, Free Health, Free Education, Free damn near everything important. The Idea, like Chavez, of booting out the multinational oil companys or taxing them to the max and then using the countrys wealth to benefit the people is how it should be, but that is not the way the Multinationals see it.

Same here in OZ Norwegian, long waiting lists for elective surgery, but if you are in need of medical assistance for anything non elective ie illness/injury, you will be seen, depending on the seriousness of your condition anytime from minutes to several hours, and the govt foots the bill.

healthcare in America is an abomimation to fucking say the least. My mother cant get insurance due to preconditions so when she had to have major surgery, she had to bring with her a check for half down of ten thousand!they cash in some retirement stock that was not much to begin with!Fuck American healthcare! Last month i was in the fields working when a piece of machinery
came loose and broke three of my right hand fingers..i set them in line again and taped them up as i can not afford this healthcare.
  • Eyes Wide Open · 2 years ago
G'day Andrew, sorry to hear about you Mother, and also your accident. Norwegian says that healtcare in the US is better, and that may well be the case, but what is the good of the best healthcare in the universe if only the rich can take advantage of it? That sucks and so does Big Phama, the Health "Care" Industry (term used loosely) and the screwing over of honest tax paying Americans, who are dying for lack of health care while the assholes in power waging wars on innocents are making a killing using the taxpayers money to enrich their friends and themselves via Big oil and the Military Industrial establishment.

Whining americans......there's lots of them around these days! america could have THE best healthcare system in the world, if you cared about the person next to you enough not to see them die through lack of MONEY. you people disgust me greedy, intolerant, ignorant, aggresive, self loathing? i hope so. theres a reason why norway can spend 40% of GDP on social and welfare schemes. THEY DON'T SPEND IT ON WEAPONS!. American social security was never generous and now it has been gutted to pay for more war. How do you feel knowing that your country is responsible for a new word describing the out right murder indiscriminately of an entire planet. OMNICIDE. americas great contribution to the world circa 2007 OMNICIDE the indiscriminate genocide of whoever by depleted uranium. Thanks Guys. did you know within a month of D.U weapons being used a cloud of uranium particulates had travelled right around the planet. instead of money being used to support the poor at home we'll use it to destroy an entire nation and make it unliveable for a hundred millenia and cause genectic damage that will last ten thousand times longer. war-mongering stupid scum. The big industries in america have a lot to answer for, the medical industry is ripping you off it doesnt cost twenty bucks for asthma inhalers. it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars for a blood test. but you wouldn't know that would you. your one of the few countries in the world that have federally executed children. comparisons between america and norway cannot be made because norway actually gives a shit about Health-care, social housing, social security, crime, and education. the people pay for these services because they bring the peace of mind that comes knowing that if they lose a job or fall ill they aren't going to "skid row" with you. they also hold fair and free elections dont have a dictator in power and like the politics of peace. yes you could learn soooo much, but your so bigotted you don't see it.

First of all, I am schocked by some of the ignorant comments posted here, i.e.:

"They do have incredible health care, however I recall a conversation I had with a local Norwegian one night. He stated that no one picks their profession in life and that it is determined by the government. He went on to state his brother became a drug addict and killed himself because he became dissatisfied with his position in the system. Yikes."

"This video is FAKE. Norway is run by COMMUNISTS. Their men are miserable SLAVES and their women are all WHORES. I'm sick of these pinko bastards talking shit about America. Once we are done killing those towel heads we should pay Norway a visit and remind them why America is still number 1."

"Norway has a constitutional monarchy, it is not a democracy."

What utter bullshit! Norway has a royal family, yes, but of course we are a democracy. And everyone can decide for themselves what they wanna be. And the video is not fake, and we are a socalist country, not a communist country.

Yes, Norway is not utopia, but we do have good health care and a good educational system. Free college! Yay!

It's too bad health care is left to insurance companies in America. Health care should NOT be a private business. And your tax dollars should cover your health care, end of story.

That being said, I love America! And I vist every chance I get. At least once a year. Americans are such wonderful, polite people, and I'm ever lonely there, and I always travel alone. Thank you guys for making me feel so welcome, no matter where in the US I go.

America is not a democracy. It was never a Democracy. It's a Republic. A Democracy is ruled by majority. Any minority parties, either citizen, and / or group haven't any avenues of protection against the rule and power of the majority. 51% rules and there are no mechanisms that offer counter balance. "Tyranny-by-Majority" was the very reason the founding fathers chose to create a Republic over a Democracy. A Republic creates checks and balances and protects the rights of the individual and minority parties from absolute authority (tyranny). A Republic is created via a constitutionally limited government of the representative type with its powers divided between the independent branches known as Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Before trashing another country it's always best to know which one you actually live in....

The cost of living in Norway is 30% higher than ours. Still wanna sign up? Could you afford that? I know what it's like as I live in a country where the cost of living is higher than yours. Luckily, I can afford it.

Maybe if the liberals in our government would allow for drilling in ANWR we could come a littler closer to Norway which is completely oil independent. Did you know that while you were comparing this utopia to our shambles?

Norway has a disproportionate amount of natural resources for a low population which explains its richesse and largesse.

Moore didn't leave this out because no one would believe it; he left it out because he would have been accused of cherry picking. In other words; it's apples and oranges which Moore like to make a jam out of.

Being an American of Norwegian descent, some of the comments on here are highly disturbing, extremely childish and merely ludicrous. I visit my relatives in Norway every chance I get. Norway and the other Scandinavian countries are way, way ahead of America in almost everything. Especially healthcare and education. As anyone can see just by reading the comments from my fellow Americans on this site, most Americans are almost illiterate. They don't use proper English because they don't know how to. They cannot spell correctly or use punctuation. It's very sad to see this happening in the US but not very surprising. Teachers in the US are not paid enough for one thing and US school books are full of untruths and historical inaccuracies. The media; TV, radio, etc go a long way towards dumbing down Americans as well. It has obviously worked too. Being a much older person than the majority of you on here, I have seen the slow dismantling of what used to be American values as well as the lower IQ's of children, teens and adults as compared to when I was growing up here in the US. It's really quite frightful for an older person like myself to see this happen to our country. Humanity is capable of great things, but we choose instead to embrace violence and murder as well as racial and sexual stereotyping and other unbecoming behaviors. How sad for humanity and especially the United States. We are NOT the giving, caring country we used to be. That can change, but we all have to participate and MAKE it happen. Start caring again people, and please open your eyes to what you are missing! Most of what you see, hear and read in the media is untrue and full of hate, violence and materialistic views. Educate yourself by reading books by reputable authors and using the internet. If you don't know how to read, like most Americans anymore, then start learning now.

That said Im moving to Norway makes Ireland look like the black hole of capitalism
A country with low murder rates has to be looked at from a 'what can we learn' from them perspective rather than a conservative hateful diatribe engendered by beinging up whaling

    Few points:

Comparing Norway to America is apples and oranges on so many points: Scale, Economy, Population, etc. What works in a Micro System fails in a Macro System. Not a valid comparison.

Further, socialism is a wonderful concept where all is provided in selfless idealism, but that is not human nature and eventually collapses upon itself - especially to countries with unlimited/uncontrolled illegal immigration that robs the resources and services of it's wealth.

Lastly, what exactly has Norway done to help the world aside from heating their homes from crap? AMERICA defeated the Facists Germans in two wars saving Europe from German Rule, brought down the Iron Curtain defeating communism in those countries at the time, Defeated Japan turning them away from war/aggressive behavior, liberated Kuwait from Iraq's military who were raping and pillaging women and girls - and following these victories did we claim these countries as our own, expaning our empire? Looking at a Map I don't see them shown as part of the USA! No, we provided assistance in rebuilding Japan and others and returned home. Ameirca is the world's defender.

Remove America from the world picture and Norway would not exist, since either the Nazis, Communists, or Muslim Extremists would rule every country and freedom would be nonexistent.

    Thank you for your attention.

As Scandinavian I can confirm that Norway is a very nice place on earth and what is presented here is true. The problem is that Sicko makes it look a bit too romantic. Norway is a rich oilproducing contry and the state owns it all to the benefit of every citizen there. They enjoy all the benefits of EU not even being a member. Seen from over here the american society lack a more balanced income distribution and a social system that takes better care of the average guy wo works his ass of every day to make companies like Coca cola and Microsoft so rich that dominant that they no longer care about the quality and true benefit of their products. Us is a country where less than 1 % merely owns the whole world. But you just wait and see overthere. The Chinese will beat the shit out off You if you dont build a society with more balance and income distribution

Norway is at the top because they have kept their population low. Our standard of living in the US is dropping because we allow to much immigration (legal and illegal) and we breed like rabbits. The US needs to knock 150million off its population to raise it's standard of living again, until then we will continue to decline as had happened in the last 65 years.

Wow! i live in the US, and i question how “united” these states really are. The“ health” care system is Wretched, the “educational” industry is shamefully substandard and college is a huge business (which is not free). Our prison “system” is something to be abhorred. I wish things were better; I wish things would change for the better. Who are these criminals in office?! Where are our Representatives. Where is dignity? The “talking heads” spewing their twisted lies are the true criminals. Everything is “bought and owned” by corporations who worship the almighty dollar, with their CEOs making absurd amounts of money. It's obscene really. Something has to give. And i won't even start on the insane, illegal invasion of innocent countries and human beings.I try to be grateful. …sometimes it is difficult. Spread the word, get involved! Work for change. It all sounds like some sort of slogan, and it is — but just “do it” and kick phil knight's ass! (thank you Kalle Lasn.) The U.N.'s Human Development Index for 2007 (which measures average quality of life) has just been released and the rankings are:

    1. Iceland
    2. Norway
    3. Australia
    4. Canada
    5. Ireland
    6. Sweden
    7. Switzerland
    8. Japan
    9. Netherlands
    10. France
    11. Finland
    12. United States

With all of America's natural advantages (abundant resources, mild and diverse climate, democratic traditions, etc.) it only ranks 12th. Decades ago, back in the 50's and early 60's, it would probably have ranked 1st. What happened? Why isn't it number one anymore?

My theory, and I think it's supported by the historical record, is that America has been moving steadily further and further to the right for almost 40 years. While popular culture has become more open and decadent, real power has shifted to corporations and away from the government. Now, the government is largely beholden to the right-wing corporate interests that helped them get elected. And what has been the result? Huge, unsustainable tax cuts to the rich, supply-side economic policies designed to keep wages and real incomes of average Americans stagnant, union jobs disappearing to low income, third-world countries and more and more deregulation that helps large, predatory corporations crush small and medium sized businesses. Now Wal-Mart is America's largest employer and the middle-class is being squeezed into a dead-end, service industry cage.

And yet only half of eligible Americans vote? I suspect that most of the Americans who don't vote are the same ones who are suffering most from the current status quo. If real meaningful change is going to occur there will need to be some kind of popular awakening, such as occurred in the 30's and 60's. Otherwise, the present trends will continue, America will slip further down the list and the American way of life will look more and more like some kind of 21st century corporate feudalism.

Norway is experiencing Immigration problems much like the rest of Europe and the USA. Mainly immigrants of from Muslim countries don't fit in well, Norway a very white country found it self amoung darker skinned people. They are not well integrated. Current rape Epidemic in Sweden and Norway, they tolerate intolerance. Dagblaladet reported 65% of rapes of Norwegian woman were preformed by "non-western" immigrants. 2005 Norway reported highest percentage of rape cases ever and simply choose to bury the statistics. Media is silent in regards to the current immigration problems.

    OH! RON PAUL '08!

America in the Time of Empire
    By Chris Hedges
    Truthdig
    Monday 26 November 2007
This column was originally published by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
All great empires and nations decay from within. By the time they hobble
off the world stage, overrun by the hordes at the gates or vanishing quietly
into the pages of history books, what made them successful and powerful no
longer has relevance. This rot takes place over decades, as with the Soviet
Union, or, even longer, as with the Roman, Ottoman or Austro-Hungarian
    empires. It is often imperceptible.
Dying empires cling until the very end to the outward trappings of power.
They mask their weakness behind a costly and technologically advanced
military. They pursue increasingly unrealistic imperial ambitions. They
stifle dissent with efficient and often ruthless mechanisms of control. They
lose the capacity for empathy, which allows them to see themselves through
the eyes of others, to create a world of accommodation rather than strife.
The creeds and noble ideals of the nation become empty cliches, used to
justify acts of greater plunder, corruption and violence. By the end, there
is only a raw lust for power and few willing to confront it.
The most damning indicators of national decline are upon us. We have
watched an oligarchy rise to take economic and political power. The top 1
percent of the population has amassed more wealth than the bottom 90 percent
combined, creating economic disparities unseen since the Depression. If
Hillary Rodham Clinton becomes president, we will see the presidency
controlled by two families for the last 24 years.
Massive debt, much of it in the hands of the Chinese, keeps piling up as we
fund absurd imperial projects and useless foreign wars. Democratic freedoms
are diminished in the name of national security. And the erosion of basic
services, from education to health care to public housing, has left tens of
millions of citizens in despair. The displacement of genuine debate and
civil and political discourse with the noise and glitter of public spectacle
and entertainment has left us ignorant of the outside world, and blind to
how it perceives us. We are fed trivia and celebrity gossip in place of
    news.
An increasing number of voices, especially within the military, are
speaking to this stark deterioration. They describe a political class that
no longer knows how to separate personal gain from the common good, a class
driving the nation into the ground.
"There has been a glaring and unfortunate display of incompetent strategic
leadership within our national leaders," retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo S.
Sanchez, the former commander of forces in Iraq, recently told the New York
Times, adding that civilian officials have been "derelict in their duties"
and guilty of a "lust for power."
The American working class, once the most prosperous on Earth, has been
politically disempowered, impoverished and abandoned. Manufacturing jobs
have been shipped overseas. State and federal assistance programs have been
slashed. The corporations, those that orchestrated the flight of jobs and
the abolishment of workers' rights, control every federal agency in
Washington, including the Department of Labor. They have dismantled the
regulations that had made the country's managed capitalism a success for
ordinary men and women. The Democratic and Republican Parties now take
corporate money and do the bidding of corporate interests.
Philadelphia is a textbook example. The city has seen a precipitous decline
in manufacturing jobs, jobs that allowed households to live comfortably on
one salary. The city had 35 percent of its workforce employed in the
manufacturing sector in 1950, perhaps the zenith of the American empire.
Thirty years later, this had fallen to 20 percent. Today it is 8.8 percent.
Commensurate jobs, jobs that offer benefits, health care and most important
enough money to provide hope for the future, no longer exist. The former
manufacturing centers from Flint, Mich., to Youngstown, Ohio, are open
sores, testaments to a growing internal collapse.
The United States has gone from being the world's largest creditor to its
largest debtor. As of September 2006, the country was, for the first time in
a century, paying out more than it received in investments. Trillions of
dollars go into defense while the nation's infrastructure, from levees in
New Orleans to highway bridges in Minnesota, collapses. We spend almost as
much on military power as the rest of the world combined, while Social
Security and Medicare entitlements are jeopardized because of huge deficits.
Money is available for war, but not for the simple necessities of daily
    life.
Nothing makes these diseased priorities more starkly clear than what the
White House did last week. On the same day, Tuesday, President Bush vetoed a
domestic spending bill for education, job training and health programs, yet
signed another bill giving the Pentagon about $471 billion for the fiscal
year that began Oct. 1. All this in the shadow of a Joint Economic Committee
report suggesting that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been twice as
expensive than previously imagined, almost $1.5 trillion.
The decision to measure the strength of the state in military terms is
fatal. It leads to a growing cynicism among a disenchanted citizenry and a
Hobbesian ethic of individual gain at the expense of everyone else. Few want
to fight and die for a Halliburton or an Exxon. This is why we do not have a
draft. It is why taxes have not been raised and we borrow to fund the war.
It is why the state has organized, and spends billions to maintain, a
mercenary army in Iraq. We leave the fighting and dying mostly to our poor
and hired killers. No nationwide sacrifices are required. We will worry
    about it later.
It all amounts to a tacit complicity on the part of a passive population.
This permits the oligarchy to squander capital and lives. It creates a world
where we speak exclusively in the language of violence. It has plunged us
into an endless cycle of war and conflict that is draining away the
vitality, resources and promise of the nation.
It signals the twilight of our empire.

This is how the Left always argues: I stated "Remove America from the world picture and Norway would not exist, since either the Nazis, Communists, or Muslim Extremists would rule every country and freedom would be nonexistent." and there reply is to take my statement from a child's perspective demanding I state when America saved Norway - as though that is what I stated. It was INFERRED by me that Norway's way of life and many countries' way of life around the world would be dramatically different if America had not been there to stop the Nazis, to stop the USSR's advance, to defeat Japan, and now to fight the Muslim terrorists with their agenda of a Muslim ruled world. Rather than provide evidence the world would be better place had America never existed and my argument is fallacious, the left typically latches on to some insiginficant detail, take it out of context, and then try to make their opponent seem stupid, since of course any conservative viewpoint or pro-America view is inferior beside a liberal anti-America viewpoint!

Further, just because I believe America has done a great deal of good for the world that goes uncredited in the America bashing by the left, doesn't mean I think it's a perfect place. It's a mess - obviously. Both parties are corrupt and care more about perpetuating their power by selling their votes than actually helping the country. To state Republicans or conservatives have ruined this country is simply ignorance, and vice versa for Democrats.

But complex discussions and views are not to be embraced by the left when debating the merits of their arguments since they are emotionally driven - much like children.

To conclude Muslim extremists are actively asserting their influence in many of your leftist cherished utopias, London, France, etc. - rioting, protesting, threatening. Open mindedness and embracing of others cultures only works with reciprocity - the extrmists do not reciprocate - hence they repress the freedoms we Americans so appreciate and defend. The referenced Nazis and Communists do not reciprocate either - so to restate my point for clarity, had America not existed, surly Hitlers advance across Europe, Stalin's and the USSR's and presenlty the Muslim Extremists assaults would have progressed around the world obliterating the cultures and way of life of all contries including Norway - had America not existed to stop these in the past and present.

Greg Hunt: You wrote ""Remove America from the world picture and Norway would not exist, since either the Nazis, Communists, or Muslim Extremists would rule every country and freedom would be nonexistent." ...

Remove America, and the Nazis might not have existed. Hitler had plenty of American enablers in the 1930's who provided him financial backing, including John F. Kennedy's father, President Bush's grandfather, Henry Ford, numerous banks, and companies like IBM. While he had plenty of help from German industry and financiers, the Nazis may still not have come to power without Americans' help.

In reality during WWII, as much as anyone hates to admit Russian or USSR was a huge part in fighting the Natzi party, who army drove into Berlin? Lets not forget top give credit where due, Kharatasho.
USA did prohibit the expansion of USSR and therefore did help Norway, or Europe for that this is nothing to be argued.
Today liberal Europe as destroyed her, 30% Immigrants with current birth rates will put France and most of the Western European continent will be a Muslim majority continent by the year 2035. Last night news in France will tell you how well these immigrants have conformed to European life. Tolerance of the intolerance, the liberal have literally handed the continent over to Islam. They choose to not have multi cultural societies but mass immigration from one party only, Muslims in Europe and Hispanics in USA, therefore not giving and equal chance to immigrants of the world. USA, Australia and now France new President Nikolas Sarkosy are the only countries awake to the current threats to the world. Liberal want to talk it out with peace meeting, # 1 who really thinks this weeks peace talks with Israel and Palestine will go anywhere, who wants to bet Hamas will launch a missile into Israel within the next 12 months. Who thinks sitting down with Hitler would have stopped him from advancing his armies??

Your country is going to fall apart, and it won't take to long. You have those fking black faces that come to your home land so they can get free services and who pays for it? YOU you stupid asshole's. Kick the niggers out of your country, they will only poison it with their AID's virus. Look at your kids and tell me that they are safe. Good bye and good luck with your mixed race.

As a Scotsman living in America I felt I had to comment here.

Why is America so obsessed with left and right? Why do you have to be a liberal or conservative? Why do you have to always argue about how you save the world and demand credit for it? Why can't you just take each situation and form your own opinion on how it should be tackled instead of sticking to "I'm a conservative so I believe this" or "I'm a liberal so I can't hurt anyone."

Yes your soldiers died in battle with ours and if you hadn't been there the war would doubtless have been lost. Yes America put a lot of money into rebuilding Europe. But it was not for the greater good, it was a business oppurtunity and a chance for political gain over communism. And something you have been able to hold over our(UK mainly, cos we're they only ones still dumb enough to fall for it) heads every time you want to go bomb someone.

Personally if I help someone it makes me feel useful and good about myself. I do not hold it over their heads for 60 years and then the demand credit and favour for it. For me it is satisfaction enough to help a fellow human being in need.

I do find it a rather disturbing reflection on America that such a powerful and rich country can not feed and take care of all its citizens. In fact, it is a national disgrace. Without paying much more tax(on income, I accept fuel/alcohol/tobacco is far heavier taxed) we get a far greater welfare system. Sure we may have to queue a bit longer for a hospital appointment. But we don't have to pay for it out of an insurance policy, upping our premium.

I may sound like a liberal ranter to some Americans but I can assure you this is not the case.

I firmly believe there is a terrorist threat on this planet. I believe Muslim extremists are a threat but killing Sadaam Hussain and bombing Iran etc will not ease that, it will make them hate us more. The fact is, Europe did the same thing in the past. the catholic church tried to rule the world under one religion, but thesedays we are over that. In a few hundred years the middle east too will pull past being religious fundamentalists with corrupt governments. We have to let them take that course naturally. If they attack our shores we defend them, of course, but we shold not go picking fights and sticking our nose in where it doesn't belong. Unfortunately for some people there is oil to be drilled and money to be made and they can't see past that.

    Anyway enough said I think.

I can see a lot of American ignorant idiots (FOX NEWS VICTIMS) reacting to the Nord's way of life. EAT YOUR HEART OUT LIFE IS FAR SUPERIOR IN NORWAY THAN IN THE UNITED STATES, I LIVE IN NEW YORK....LET'S FACE IT BUSH COUNTRY SUCKS UNLESS YOU ARE A MILLIONAIRE (0.6% of the U.S population), but to be fair we have to realize that the population of Norway or Sweden is about 10 millions, that explain a lot....
FOR THE IGNORANT WHO ALWAYS MENTION WW2 AND THE NAZIS...THE AMERICAN CORPORATE RULING ELITE FINANCED ADOLF HITLER, THERE WAS NO WAY FOR HITLER TO GET ELECTED AND TAKE OVER GERMANY WITHOUT THE U.S FINANCIAL SUPPORT.PRESCOTT BUSH (our president's Grand father had his Bank ceased by the US Government in 1941 under the "Trading with the enemy law" for managing the Nazis US investments (JD Farben) Thousand of US soldiers got killed by German tanks made by the firm OPEL (a subsidiary of General Motor USA) THE NUMBER TATTOOED ON THE PRISONERS IN NAZI CONCENTRATION CAMPS WAS DESIGNED BY IBM. THE IBM MACHINE FROM THE GERMAN CAMPS CAN BE SEEN AT THE HOLOCAUST MUSEUM OF WASHINGTON DC,WITHOUT THE U.S THE NAZI WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN OVER EUROPE....BY the way ALL THE US CORPORATIONS INVOLVED WITH THE NAZIS DID OPEN SWISS BANK ACCOUNTS IN ORDER TO HAVE THE PAYMENTS MADE AND LIVE THE MONEY THERE UNTIL WW2 WAS OVER, THIS WAY THEY COULD NOT FALL UNDER "THE "TRADING WITH THE ENNEMY LAWS" ONLY THE GERMAN EXECUTIVES WERE CALLED AT NUREMBERG ,THE US MOTHER COMPANIES WERE NEVER EVEN QUESTIONED AND NEVER ASKED COMPENSATION BY FAMILIES OF VICTIMS, That include IBM ,FORD, General Motors, G.E ....ALL TODAY'S BUSH SUPPORTERS...

Michael Moore likes the French healthcare system as well but he does not mention that if ten years all of France will be one giant burning 'minority zone' because they ascribe to the false theory that all races have the same genetic intelligence and they flood their country with immigrants who do not have the genetic heritage to maintain a modern society and that is more and more becoming the scientific FAX as scientists track down the genetic markers of human intelligence and discover they are not evenly distributed among races. Norway lives well because unlike America it does not have to support the huge burden of a large black population.
  • Greg Hunt · 2 years ago
Of course America did not defeat the Germans alone - I didn't know I was supposed to give a history lesson, rather I thought I was trying to argue a point in brief. I'm sorry many feel every detail must be spelled out...

Back to health care - I pay for my health insurance and I pay my deductibles and copayments if I need a doctor, but guess what, I can see a doctor when I choose, who I choose, and I don't need a referral or approval. I am middle class, have worked hard my whole life - I do sales, so I've always been on commission, and I wouldn't trade the freedom of choice America offers for any handouts available in other countries. We have the freedom to succeed OR fail on our own merits. Education is available for those who want it through loans, grants, scholarships. I believe in the proverb "teach a man to fish" rather than "give him fish". That is the fundamental difference in our beliefs.

I've traveled Europe for months, a wonderful place...yet the people I met complained of Europe's high tax rate, low wages, difficulty in saving any money. My cousin married a swede and lives in Sweden. She says young people are unable to earn enough money to purchase a home, they must inherit it.

Why do all the celebrities who praise France and Europe and live there return to America to make their films? Because you can make a money in America - because opportunity is available. The more you rely on the state to provide for your needs: housing, health care, etc. the more influence and power you give them over your life and the less freedom you have.

So America bashers - bash away.

Ultimately the history books may say that the Nazis really did totally destroy France because it made them open their borders to all immigrants so they wouldn't appear to be racist. So they allowed massive immigration from the world's most destitute countries, and now the science of genetics is slowly discovering that the genes for certain kinds of intellligence are not equal among races and France is now something like 30% and growing of people who are actually scientifically genetically not as inteligent in the tasks to create a functioning modern society. France became so 'nazi damaged' that it cannot stop a massive flood of black immigrants who will leave a great civilization in ruins to rival Uganda or the Congo. That is simply scientific fact that is becoming more and more apparent and more and more undeniable. The French language is in decline globally because France insists on becoming eventually an African nation.

Norway will remain one of the world's premier nations as long as it can withstand the amazing tide of black immigration that is destroying the rest of western civilization.

Bwaaahahahaha what a moron, The "Mighty" US cant even overcome the city of Baghdad even given their F-16's, Apaches, M1A2 tanks and any amount of weapons :o) Iraq had it's military destroyed in Gulf War 1, and was then subjected to 10 yrs of sanctions, and yet the yanks cant even get control over (1) city in what is essentially a third world country?? Dumb fucken yanks, USA,USA,USA yeah right! When was the last time the US actually won a war?? The US is history, period, everyone knows it but you poor dumb bastards. These are the same pussies who are allowing their countries to be taken over by muslims. They are too afraid and politically correct to do anything about it. British healthcare is a joke, I've heard horror stories of people who have died waiting for substandard free care. They should never forget that if it wasn't for the good ol' USA they would all be slaves of the Russians. Bunch of commie ingrates if you ask me! No matter, in about 50 years the countries of Europe will be third wolrd Islamic shitholes. Pathetic!

Can't we all just get along? America has some great people but the gov has a dark sided ruling class which is spreading out to the rest of the world. When America gets into world conflicts and wars, most people don't even know what's going on as everything is censored from the public and the public is controlled. People worldwide need to "wake-up" and pool together and makes things right "like Norway" for rest of the world.

Our major contribution to the world is agriculture, after all you can,t eat snow, dirt, and oil. If we hadn't come into WW1,and WW2 you would no doubt be living in vastly different states. Most of you would no doubt be speaking Russian. Since many of you relish cutting down my republic. I think we should dismantle ALL of our bases that kept you safe for many years. Withdraw ALL of our troops from your respective lands. And finally, end ALL foreign aid to every nation on the globe. That should "appease" you all, and help the porest people in our own republic to get on their feet. So screw every one of you!

It does not feel good to be know you have been duped. Pure, false, diabolical ego coming from those americans who will not recognize the truth - living compassionately. Just been having a good chuckle at the 'angry' responces. Im a New Zealander living in the US and I thought Mr Moores movie DID NOT show the real misery of the Americans I come across everyday. There are so many people here who just 'suffer' through not having medical access. It's bloody heart breaking!!! They dont get angry at me though when they ask about health care in my own native New Zealand. They all just shake there heads in disbelief and dare I say it .... frustration!!! If England, France, Norway, New Zealand ect. are considered Socilist countries because they 'allow' people the 'dignity' of affordable health care, then what kind of country is the USA? Its NOT the everyday Joes here who make the rules .... there just forced to abide by whats dictated to them.
Well, I have a couple more weeks to go before I pay off my $1290 emergency room visit (2 hrs) once thats paid, Im going back to my socilist country for decent medical care, double the pay for doing the exact same job I do here and edible food.
Oh .... and by the way the comment further down about WWI and WWII If the US had minded its own business about getting into WWI there probably wouldnt have been a WWII. AND .... even though both wars were fought .... the US didnt step up to the plate like many countries. I guess thats why there arent too many countries today, willing to help out more. Cant expect others to do the hard yards war after war without getting in yourselves and expect everybody to come rushing when YOU need help ..... Grow up chap

    Bullshit.

They didnt want you to see what white people do. They build civilizations. They always have.

They didnt want you to see white civilization as it used to be in the US, and every other european country.

The jews use other races to wreck societies and bring them under thumb. They were run out of other countries throughtout history for a reason. We were warned by our forefathers throughout history, over and over...Luther, Ford, Lindberg, etc etc - these were not misguided dumbasses, these were intelligent, smart, and great men.

Look at who pushed multiculturalism. Look at who started communism (the first jewish state). Look at who pushes for amnesty for illegals. Look who pushed for NAFTA. Look this stuff up. Look at who pushes for laws so that YOU cannot read what I have written here?

Americnas crazily think that they live in the 'best' country in the the world (<-prefered words 'in da world'). They look at speeches about Hitler and the Germans and have all kind of smart things to say, however, they are not realizing how fanatic they are themselves.
That brings me to their abyssimal health care system. Wow what a money making machine this is. I think the only disease where the US is ahead of Europe is cancer treatment. Not surprisingly because this is usually the most expensive treatment of them all.

You can only feel sorry for the Americans. They have to eat poisoned food, life is super expensive, health care that will drop them as soon as they really need help, they can and will get fired in 2 weeks, their public sector is pretty bad as well (ever used public transportation). Just take your car and drive a half hour outside of the big cities and see the trailer parks, the wooden shags or dog houses they are forced to live in. That brings me to my last point. The US is not a democracy that is the bottom line. In a democracy the people rule in the US only the rich and influential rule always, always denying the people government money and wasting it on socialistic projects. The US has a socialistic system for the rich. Example military equipment manuf. of products nobody needs, legislation that allows insurance company to drop individuals when they are sick...all these crooks go to Washington pay the politicians off who will then decide in favor of their pocket books (while in power or afterwards) and leave the mjority of Americans vulnerable. I am sorry for everyone that needs to live there.
  • Jerry Curle · 2 years ago
Karlso. America is NOT a democracy - it is a republic. The statistics about people not being covered by healthcare are not correct. Michael Moore is a communist with a camera (and a huge ass). Communists, Atheists and other radicals / minorities in the US are the most vocal about what they find wrong with the country. Instead of working to make it a better place - they are all to willing to lie and misrepresent their claims to people in other countries. People from around the world travel to the US for treatments and American Doctors treat people EVERY DAY with no money or means. Come visit us....
  • asuls · 2 years ago
It seems some on here are a bit confused as to what communism really is. I'm Norwegian, and the Communist Party is a small fringe party without seats in Parliament. Norway is rather middle of the road by European standards.

Politics in Norway is boring boring stuff, with small, middle ground discussions. Because we haven't got a two-party system, rather nearly ten parties represented in Parliament, co-operation has been the key. The only difference between the left and right is minor details and adjustments, because most of cabinets after WWII has been coalitions with a minority of the vote. No Norwegian party has alone been anywhere near having a majority of the seats in Parliament. Our current Government is a three party coalition.

Michael Moore is, obviously, making a bit of a meal out of this presentation. The Bastøy Prison is not for hard core prisoners, rather it's for short term prisoners of crimes like tax evasion, DUIs and other minor offenses. Obviously, we have maximum security prisons as well. The reason why we have prisons like Bastøy is because reform is a large portion of punishment. People deserve a second chance.

As for the paid holidays in the south, that's not for all. It's for people with ailments such as strong allergies and skin diseases that suffer because of our harsh winter climate.

As for the tax level, it's high indeed. Most people think the level is alright though, because it's just another way to pay for medical services and pensions. As such, it's not hand outs. You don't pay for, say, an operation when you're in hospital, you pay for it through 40 years of income taxes.
  • Karlso Santana · 2 years ago
In Europe, you generally pay a lot more taxes which will in turn give you a fantastic infrastructure and a solid (good but improvable) health care system.
Asuls, I do not think there is confusion about what socialism is. It is used as deragtory term od uneducated americans that have a hard time believing that it is or at least that something is better somewhere else.
It is usually labeled socialistic, liberal, elitist, European, unfair...these are all words that are laden with symbolism in the US, therefore used in the wrong context.
That is the other thing that is funny about the US. For example the US tv, media reports every so often that a burn victim (lately they come out of Iraq) was sent over from Iraq and treated in the US for free. Big deal.
I go over to Europe and there is a super small article in the local newspaper that 5 people arrived from xyz country for free treatment as part of a xyz program.
In the US that would be a propaganda feast. In Europe it is part of being socialistic, elitist, and liberal, I guess.
  • John · 2 years ago
Well Greg, you are how the "Right" always argues...from false premises. I would point out to you that yes, while the US did save Norway from the Nazis and held off the Communists, it was not you conservatives that did the work, it was a United States that was run by LIBERALS. When FDR declared war against the forces of fascism you Conservatives were dragged kicking and screaming all the way. Remember that the Republican Party was in bed with the German American Bund, a fascist organization, and that ten years before, your rich masters including many leading elite rich industrialists tried to overthrow FDR in a military coup replacing the Republic with a Fascist Dictatorship. Prescott Bush made his first million by laundering money for the Nazis.

It was Liberals who were responsible for setting up the programs that gave Americans a step up, to allow us to go to college, and to build the infrastructure that set our Nation up to have the best living conditions in the world and allowed the average guy to succeed in the American Dream. It was Liberal ideals that made our country into an economic powerhouse, where the tax on the rich under Eisenhower was in the 95% bracket. Conservatives have for the last twenty years been deconstructing this infrastructure turning the great USA into a big firesale for the greed-hogs to buy up to make themselves filthy rich and that would rule our great nation as corporate kings for THEIR benefit, and not yours or mine. I will have you know that Mussolini's definition for national rule by corporate elites is ... Fascism. Look it up. And all the while you "Conservatives" have been facilitating the turnover of everything that made America a great place to live in for the average guy into a place that is a great place to live only for the Rich Elites, all the while wrapping yourselves in the flag. The United States that my father fought for against fascism has now been turned into a quasi-fascist state catering only to the Rich Corporate Elite. So don't wrap yourself in my flag when you defend those neocons and corporate kings that have rubbed my father's efforts in WWII in the dirt.

If America had universal single payer healthcare, our industries would flourish, we could be competitive in the world marketplace, but you conservatives would rather have corporate serfs working for tiny wages and with no rights so as to maximize the money going to the Top Dogs. And those Top Dogs don't like any freedom or back talk from the little guy. Is that the America you want?

Besides, if you don't make over a million a year, the Ruling Class really don't think of you as a "Real American," they only look on you as a useful pawn.

Real Americans want our country to be great again, and we can start by getting rid of you neocon usurpers, unless you declare martial law and try to take the country over as a dictatorship, in which case we will fight. Vote the Bas***ds out! This is America - Love it or Leave It!

Until America decides to do away with the war on Drugs, our imperialism, and the federal reserve system we cannot afford to do any of this. We are 9 TRILLION in debt, how are we gonna pay for it? but if we did away with the Illegal and unconstitutional Fed Res then congress would do it's job and print the money and one way to distribute it could be through a health care system that is fair and equal. And if we did not have this absurd war on drugs(which is in reality a war on poor people who need help) our prisons would have about a tenth the number of people they currently have. The war on terror is a joke, as we are told to be afraid Osama is aroubnd every corner, yet the borders are totally insecure. Ans we have troops everywhere around hte world, and we need ot bring them home and truly protect the homeland.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence! IMHO our problem in the US comes down to 1 thing - priorities. If the US could have a priority shift from accumulating money/wealth to the original goal of Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness, things would be so much better! I'm voting for Ron Paul in 2008 and hope he can start the ball rolling. He has, at the very least, planted the seeds of change in the younger generation.
  • Gabriel · 2 years ago
"Utopia" always has it price. Norway's tax structure, in order to sustain this, is over 50% of total income, and that does not include sales or commerce taxes like gas, food, etc. So, as in all socialist societies, you have the workers paying for the benefits of those who either cannot or will not work.

Part of true freedom is the freedom to starve if you refuse to be a responsible, working member of society, and it is quite regrettable that America has lost that ethic. Isn't there something in the Bible that says let him who will not work, not eat as well.

As a second point of contention regarding health care: It has been irrefutably shown that about 97% of health problems below "old age" (75 years plus) are behaviorally driven. That is, they are the result of people unwilling to deny their appetites and cravings for the simple, and superior purpose of caring for their single most precious possession -- their own bodies. They would rather eat "good tasting" crap that is poison to their physical bodies; they would rather stimulate some nerve endings for a short time, the results of which destroy their health, than to retain good health. And for this they want to require of the rest of us, who take the effort to care for this physical machine, to pay for their illnesses (read that: pay for their cigarettes, liquor, potato chips and other crap they stuff into that garbage disposal hole they call their mouths). Can anyone tell me, in all this, where the justice is in "universal health care"?

Sorry, I'm opting out. I refuse to pay any taxes that support someone else's death wish. I will just go on taking care of my body, allowing others the freedom to destroy theirs, and I will not be paying a dime to deter their chosen cause-and-effect they have created. To modify a metaphor: You’ve made your bed, die in it.

    @ Gabriel

You are pointing rightfully out that in the US the majority of people is fat, addicted to drugs, are fitness/muscle freaks, etc. Almost nothing is done in moderation almost everything is done in extremes.
The US as a country is a sick patient and Bush is just a symptom of this disease.
I would never, ever, ever want to trade with the an American for their fate to live in the US, ever.
So what people pay more taxes, so what some people are using the system? Better to have some lazy people that abuse the system to refuse help to people that may really need it.
Call us Europeans fags, Euro trash, liberals, communists who the hell cares what. At the end of the day I have the prvilege to live in Europe.
  • John · 2 years ago
    Gabriel,
Spoken like a true individualist. Bear in mind that your taxes now support lazy Billionaires who pay less tax than you. You contribute to their welfare and for what? Your chance to be duped into believing that poverty stricken individualism is better than working together to achieve a better society for us 95% "little guy" Americans who pay the bulk of the bill? Hell yes, I would pay more taxes, and soak the rich for their taxes to be provided health care - free of charge, for whatever ails me rather than paying some fat cat private insurance exec for the privilege of having me pay half the bill in a co-pay so he can vacation in his third house in the Bahamas. Yes, I'd pay those extra taxes and force that fat cat to support me. Those people have wrecked our economy, put us into debt to the tune of $3 trillion, sent us to war for oil so they can sell it us at $100/barrel, and told us endless lies so they can take our money and wallow in greed. I have a good plan for all those of his private insurance owners and for all the 200,000 people that the insurance companies hire whose job it is to decline all my insurance claims...it is called unemployment! As for those Americans who have bought the right wing lie that we should be rugged individualists while they as a group individually fleece us for everything we have, I have another word - a "mark" (the target of a pickpocket). I don't know about you, but I'm through being taken advantage of.

What, a perfect place this Norway? Cops without guns? Social harmony?
Look deeper my friends and you will see such social progress is best accomplished among nations that are of the white race. Sounds terrible to say? I am a liberal who has, after a lifetime of study, have come to the same conclusion any intelligent individual will arrive at: that societies that are vastly white have a higher standard of living. This is not the result of racism, but is the result of certain individuals who (apparently) cannot function harmoniously, in peace and goodness. This is fact, but it is a truth that cannot be spoken.
Wake up! Demand accountability! Denounce the de-evolution of culture due to peoples who serve only themselves and act in ways that clearly demonstrates a lack of intelligent aelf-awareness.

Greg said: "My cousin married a swede and lives in Sweden. She says young people are unable to earn enough money to purchase a home, they must inherit it."

Wow... should that be any news? Your cousin is a loser and tries to justify her own pathetic lifestyle by claiming everyone else being in the same situation.

    What a moron.

I have lived in Norway, worked in Sweden. My sister was just moving from Norway to Denmark with her Swedish boyfriend. Like me, they'd just laugh at your stupid cousin.

Maybe it's the US DNA that's causing your cousin to be this stupid?

The US system in general is among the worst systems among developed countries... and it's probably too far gone to count the US amongst "developed nations". You still have death penalty as a part of normal life. You still have police killing people on daily basis, you still have war horny bastards running things for you, and last, but not least, you still vote in your dictators, rather than having a democratic system in place, where the people decide.

A sorry ass pathetic country if there ever was one... and it is funny how you sickomericans love to compare the US to places like Nigeria, Chad and other 3rd world countries, in order to show "how much better your country is"....

    Pathetic, but predictable.

It is sad to see erroneous, poisonous statements such as David Smith's. Just like every other peoples, cultures and races around the world, predominantly white cultures have their strengths and weaknesses. I'm proud of my white ancestry. But anyone with any knowledge of world history knows that no group has waged more war, killed, stolen, oppressed and enslaved as much as Europeans. Not only did we do these things against other whites, we've globally raped other lands and peoples. I think there are plenty of white people who are progessive and peace minded, but no matter how some Nazi minded individuals try to distort the facts, the truth will set us all free. Peace to you all.

A little about taxes in Norway, since a lot of you presume we pay so much. Taxes in Norway depend on how much you earn. The more you earn, the more you pay. Average percentage is 36%. In addition, we pay a salestax of 25% on goods and services, except food, where the the tax is 12.5%.

Taxes make up 42% of GNP, which is 2 percentage points more than the EU, according to the OECD, but we tax fortunes more than the EU does, and salaries less.

At the same time, for our taxes we get health care, child benefits, paid sick leave, education from primary school thru university, pensions, and probably a lot more that I can't think of right now.

Truely, you don't know how lucky you are. PLEASE!!!! Stay at home .... where you belong ..... land o the free.... home of the brave!! Come on, start waving your little flags again and tell us how wonderful you are and that you continually save us from the crime and evil that permeates 'our' other countries.

Really, Americans ....you do yourselves a great justice by just staying at home in your great big huge wonderful country.
We'll stay on our side of the borders where its uckie and horrible and you guys stay on your side where its warm and safe.

  • Gabriel · 2 years ago
Well, John, the one thing you are missing in your logic – the very essential thing – is that you are opting into the plans of the very ones you despise for fleecing you. The entire purpose in all their hooting about how everyone deserves universal health care is to create a plutocracy where people like yourself are quite willing to take their handouts in exchange for the surrender of your soul. I mean no disrespect, but that is the ideology of a plow horse. You get it to pull your machine for you simply by providing it with daily sustenance. Humans are suppose to have much higher ideals and principles than that. You have been made willing to do a lot of good talking about how evil they are, and how everyone should rise up and "fix" the system, while at the same time you continue to pay for it. You said you would gladly pay more taxes to be able to "soak the rich for their taxes." Do you really believe what you wrote? Do you REALLY think that those guys whose money rules this system will be forced to do things your way. When was the last time, John, that you put a tooth under your pillow expecting the fairy to pay you for it. Well, you will have far more success getting rich that way than you will by trying to force those with the purse strings to change to suit you.

You called me an "individualist." Actually I am not. I am just a realist who sees the injustice of, among other things, forcing people to pay for the health care of those who intentionally ruin their health.

You also mentioned that the "lazy billionaires pay less tax" than I do. That is quite INcorrect. I pay no income taxes whatever, and haven't many years. I decided that for me to do so, was grossly immoral since the money went to pay for bombs, bullets and murderous war machines and their operators, to kill people who never hurt a single American. I speak of Iraq, of course, but I am a Vet who actually volunteered for Viet Nam out of patriotic fervor (another way of spelling "stupidity"), but I did receive one blessing out of that conflict – I learned from my mistakes. I would never again lift a finger to save this nation from being flushed into oblivion. That is where it belongs, and that is where it is going.

KARLSO SANTANA, you said, "Better to have some lazy people that abuse the system to refuse help to people that may really need it." That would be true – if it were true. It is not. You imply a minority of "lazy" people and a majority of those that "really need it." 'Scuse me sir, but that is entirely backwards from the truth and from what I said. My comment was based on the statistical fact that approximately 97% of the people who are ill and in need of health care, are so because they are either too lazy or too self-indulgent to take care of their bodies, and then expect those of us who do to then pay for their wanton stupidity. I simply will not. And there are mechanisms in place in every civilized society to care for those who are truly in need, but I would no more support a health system that rewards gross intemperance any more than I will pay for a heroin addict’s next fix.

Michael Moore is a good case-in-point. While I agree with much of what his documentaries present, I would bet his serum cholesterol level is sufficient to grease the axels on a truck, and were he not already extremely wealthy, he would very much want us to pay for his first heart attack and every succeeding one as well. And of course he has his many blind spots, politically too. If you watched Fahrenheit 911 you can see that the man seriously believed that if Al Gore and the Democrats had been put in power, all would be well – or at least much better. That has got to be the most politically myopic viewpoint one can imagine! If the Democrats were in power NOTHING would change – except perhaps some minor differences in how they spend other people's money.

If the truth be told, the American Dream was sold out before the ink dried on the "CON-stitution" in 1787 after the US defaulted on 17 loans from the British Crown and France. Hmmmm, anyone notice that King George III was also the King of France at this time....."My Enemy, My Ally".... Anyoen in the US ever hear of "MORTMAIN"? It rules this nation of states.

There has been and always will be a worm in the apple of any "Great Experiment", whether it happened to be the US or some other contemporary nation-state(s). Many have been brought to power, and then torn down to denigrate the human spirit, so it could then easily plunder the hopeless and stunned people. Norway, if it was cast in such a role, would be as ill-treated as the US is now. "Cast not a stone, lest it strike at the heart".
Between the Tavistock Institute, Ford Foundation, Club of Rome, Jesuit Societies, as subverted, and the numerous "Think Tanks" that invariably control the affairs of every nation through their own nefarious influences, (i.e. Bilderbergs), and the most insidous influence of the Vatican Assassins that brought you the wonderful and colorful parts of history such as the "Crusades", the "Dark Ages", and the "Inquisition" that DOMINATED EUROPE for hundreds of years, as well as the "Witch Trials" in America by the Puritans, whom of course were in bed with the East Indies Trade Company that founded the invasion of the North American continent in the 15 and 1600's, then do you not think that all the world would reach out in a necessary harmony to meet the needs of all? It is human nature from birth to give, but when trained by Elders to hate, despise, and to devour all that is meant to be shared by Our Creator, and to use RELIGION to thereby further their maniacal goals, then what choice was given these poor misguided children than to TAKE all they could in the name of their various GODS? DIVINE RIGHT is the true root of all EVILS! No one has a divine right to any property, resources, goods, or to nature other than Our Creator, for we are but finite waifs.
Collectivism, Communitarianism, Communism, Socialism, Capitalist, Nazi, are all just names of different systems of taxation, but if you follow "OUR CREATOR'S PLAN", then none of these systems rule. This planet was a gift from Our Creator for all to enjoy and to benefit from it's bounty. This is what the ones called, "Evil" seek to hide from you. This is not entirely accurate as they are not so evil as just DAMNED SEFLISH and EGO DRIVEN!
Until MANKIND learns to be as children are born, and UNLEARN the lessons taught by flawed Human Elders enslaved to ideology inconsistent with the WILL OF OUR CREATOR, then certain construction and DESTRUCTION of any and ALL CULTURES will continue until the end of time.

Cast not a stone, Lest it strike to the heart of the matter!

THINK!, DECIDE!, for it is the one thing "OUR CREATOR" never took away from any of us. HE/SHE/IT/DEITY/GOD gave us FREE WILL and the reason to CHOOSE! Now....the choice is yours.....
    DECIDE.

Well Dan, I can agree with much of what you say -- except the foundation principle of why we have all this trouble and evil.

You said "It is human nature from birth to give..." and this part is clearly false if you simply observe human nature. Take a baby's toy away, or cross his will in any other manner, and he would literally kill you if he could. But fortunately he is not physically capable of that, at least until his parents have had the opportunity to civilize the little heathen.

You see, the problem is not countries, politics, religions or societies. The problem is the heart of man, and the "Great Experiment" is not America, it is God granting a rebellious race the opportunity to prove whether or not they are capable of governing their affairs apart from Him. Clearly they are not, and the "Great Experiment" is about to shut down – forever.

They had to stop back here because it was too difficult trying to screen buyers who would not abuse the animals. In Sweden, spanking a child is against the law. Michael Moore *always* films a cartoon. The real world is often inconveniently complex when one's objective is to make the evidence for one's point look as incontrovertible as possible. Put another way, Michael Moore's arguments are like the ones you have in your head before you starting talking to the guy who disagrees with you.

That said, the US healthcare system does suck. We pay more on health per capita ($3k/y) than anyone else (I think the developed world averages $2k/y) and our lines for doctors are not much shorter than the ones in Britain and Canada. And our taxes are very high, honestly not that much lower than in Norway, Sweden, France, etc.

High taxes are a bad thing when you don't get much for them. What we get is miltary spending, mostly because we're addicted to buying missiles in the same way we're addicted to gasoline - both drive our economny in ways we're not even prepared to acknowledge. At least we get a lot of that, but I'm not sure I'm personally seeing any tangible benefits from it (and I suspect I'm seeing some possibly serious drawbacks to it). What we *don't* get is spending on infrastructure, health care, education, etc. - even the Democrats don't spend much on these things. And it's a tradeoff, you can't have everything.

The one thing that really should be clear to everyone is that having companies that expect to make money - and increasing amounts of it every quarter to satisfy stockholders - is *not* the way to keep healthcare inexpensive. I don't care how inefficient you expect government to be, the profit motive is a powerful force; and when *everyone* needs a commodity literally just to survive, it's a no-brainer that it will be expensive. All the idealism in the world won't change that simple fact.

Just don't take Michael Moore's "doumentaries" at face value. You'll lose a lot of arguments you could have won if you'd only used facts.
  • Angel · 2 years ago
I pay federal taxes, here in the US at a rate of 38%, and I have to pay a State income tax and a sales tax of 9%. For all this, I get a complete idiot as president, fellow citizerns who can barely speak English (although it is the ONLY language they do speak), have no health insurance now, live in post-Katrina New Orleans, pay for killing innocent civilians in Iraq, must hire people from a pool of poorly educated, but patriotic morons...and so on, ad infinitum.
  • Mike · 2 years ago
Michael Moore is a straight up idiot. Norway's government pays for people to take a two week tropical vacation? And that's a good thing. So everybody else in the country is paying taxes so some dude can get a vacation? Maybe that person should work, save up his money and take a vacation. Then he won't have to ask the government whether or not he can do it.

When you claim a right to anything - food, education, shelter, healthcare, vacations, anything - you are claiming the right to force me to pay for it. And nobody has that right.
  • Mike · 2 years ago
Moore confuses economically liberal values and socially liberal values.

The Soviet Union paid for your healthcare and gave you as much time off of work as you needed for it. They paid for people that couldn't take the cold of winter to go to a retreat in an area with a warmer climate.

If you committed a crime in the Soviet Union and were sent to a labor camp you did not come back.

That is the difference between economic values and social values. So the second half of the video is absolutely useless. Not to mention that he praises a country that allows murderers to just go out and chill with the rest of the population. There are no words for that kind of stupidity.
  • Subsist · 2 years ago
People always mention the cold? Well, yeah if you lie in the north it's fucking cold, but down south (where I live) it's all good.. In summer it's about 25-30c degrees and in the winter it might be as cold as -10degress but mostly around -5.

But yeah, we pay a lot of taxes but earns heaps of money too. Sure, there is bad things about Norway too, hell, there ain't a single country that doesn't have a bad thing..BUT we do have a superb health care system. Still some problems with it, but better than America. And thats what the movie is about!

American conservatives when confronted with anything that threatens their ignorance choose to repeat the same old vindictive and spiteful rebuttals- the conservative party line--criminals should be punished severely even if all it does is make them more criminal, taxes are evil- because conservatives are selfish and don't want to pay taxes- they want society to benefit them but not cost them, big government sucks- because it challenges them and on and on. They're willfully stupid. They intend to make a square peg fit a round hole. They don't care that it makes no sense. All they care is that it appeals to their devious, selfish, spiteful little souls.

The lying Republicans hate Moore for a simple reason: Their credo is that it does not matter what the truth is, as long as you can stop people from telling the truth. Millions of registered Republicans will say anything that they think will win elections, in order to prevent liberal reforms. The war in Iraq is not the disease with Republicans; it is a symptom of the disease. Health care, public education, public transportation, pollution, war -- the Republicans are the same on every issue.

Cultural differences prevent any such system from ever working here. Same cultural difference was exhibited in "Bowling for Columbine", where it was shown Canadians have more guns but a vastly lower murder rate. It's not the guns, it's our violent culture.

The comments here are sad. You have people like Otis Toole who just want to call MM fat. People who want to attack Norway. You just don't get it. He isn't trying to get you to move to Norway. He is trying to get you to see that there are other ways, better ways of doing things. Why the heck aren't we using energy from our waste treatment plants to heat our homes? I'll tell you why, because it would hurt some fat-cats profit margin, and that fat-cat has a good lobbyist group. There are bad politicians on both sides, but if you look at the last 10 years there are maybe 1 or 2 dems who have been caught with money in their freezer, but that doesn't come close to the number of corrupt republicans who are working to rob this country blind for corporate profit and greed. No one is talking about the Jack Abramoff scandal and all the crooked republicans he was involved with anymore. No one is looking at all the lobbyists and corporate insiders that Bush has appointed to regulate the industries they work for. People have to change the way they think, stop with the partisan bs and turn off Fox News Propoganda. If the tax dollars were being spent on things we need instead of pouring into Halliburtons bank account we might all be better off and we might not mind paying our fair share. If we can strap 12 billion in cash to pallets, and let Halliburton get away with "misplacing" 9 billion of it with no consequences, we could probably handle the health care problem. In fact a good start would be to hold companies like Halliiburton accountable for their actions and for robbing our tresury for their greed.

The difference between American and Norwegian foreign policy is also huge… in a time that America is attacking Iraq and sending more weapons to Israel and threatening Iran and Syria. Norway and Sweden r the highest contributors of aid to the Palestinian authority and Palestinian refugees. Many of my friends benefited from Norwegian aid programs for supporting talents in art and empowerment of women. And a lot of my friends also suffered either from wounds or from fatal attacks by the Israeli army which uses American weapons.

By the way, greetings to my anarchist comrades in Norway!

It just a dream now for all you white monkeys. Your demonic race is fading away. People of color are the original kings of this earth. Your people are a disease upon this planet. Just keep crying about how you country is changing. and by the way when we Americas get together we kick everyones ass!!! Race wont matter, when Americans unite and find common, and when the majority realize we have been lied to we will put an end to this war and end the reign of Bush the Tyrannt.

Nice commercial for more taxes!!! I am grown up in Norway. Did the film ever tell you that you pay 35-50% income taxes (depending on your income)? Did the film tell you that we pay 25% VAT for everything we buy except food which has 14%VAT? Did the film tell you that a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI (4X4) cost USD 60.000? Did the film tell you that 85% of all prisoners are people from Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Vietnam, Phillipines and Thailand? But there is some positive aspects they didnt tell you, listen to this: If you are 65 years old, get a permit to stay and work, work for 2 years only- you will get a life time pension of USD 25.000. The pension can be paid to any bank account in the world, and its tax free.... If you work, and something happens to your health and you cant work anymore, you will get your monthly payment up to 100% of your yearly income, until you die - no matter if you are 20 and die when you're 100 years old...So this is a invitation to all of you that want to work - short or long term. For USD 100.- we get all the papers you need, give you advise how to fill out the form. This is a LOTTO where everybody wins! So, just email me, Norway need workers in construction bussiness!!!

Regarding to an unarmed Police. Its a matter of fact, there hasnt been killed policeofficers in Norway the past 4-5 years.... But, this is pretty interesting. Most of the police have their weapon in the trunk of the car, but they have to get a permit from the police headofice to arm them self.... So, during a bankrobbery they take their speaker and yallow to the criminals; OK guys... Freeze - Otherwhise I have to call my chief to arm my self, this is warning, bla bla bla....

Dear Andy, Do you live in Norway? First, in capital of Oslo there is 20% immigrants, about 100.000 - and over 60% of them are unemployed! People paying low tax as below as 30% are either suffering from high debt or low income, under USD 38000

It is the nature of man to be aggressive, territorial, and protect their young. Within that same nature their is the capacity to be generous and faithful. Fight or Flight. Pain and Pleasure. This has nothing to with atheism or religion. In Society it is power, wealth, image and control vs generosity, compassion and service. There is always a gossip outlet. This has nothing to do with religion or atheism. Some do not want to think about how we came to be here, why we are here, and where we are going. There are two groups that think they know. Fundamentalists and radical atheists. This has nothing to do with religion or atheism, but it has a lot to do with killing and intolerance. If someone, language, a culture, a different region, ignorance of their life creates fear and misunderstanding. This is human nature and these are the roots of war and anger. Communists have killed and so have orthodox fundamentalists. Atheists have killed and so have so-called religious people. It is not religion. It is not religion and it is not atheism. It is institutionalized and centralized power of human nature. Our survival is cooperative, not one group overpowering another to the detriment of their very existance.

No society is perfect... but there is no doubt that we all can improve our immediate circumstance and the societal conditions we live within. Other people and other societies are making genuine progress and realizing creative gains and benefits that are within the reach of all of us. We can learn from those individuals and societies that are finding a better way in the midst of an extremely difficult and complicated human experience. Getting these alternative possibilities that are in fact being realized into public view and thye mainstream media is key and essential to bringing awareness to what is possible for us all. Demanding this kind and quality of information from our media outlets is crucial in encouraging them to bring enlivening information into the spotlight as opposed to the fearful, troubling, and sensationalistic forms of news that have become the norm. Let's let the media moguls know that there is alternative information that we prefer as remedy for the poor and impoverished conditions that prevail in our weary communities.

This comment is directed towards the Sicko movie, rather than the idyllic situation in Norway. At the very start of the Sicko movie, i saw this unbelievable fact - the doctors asked for 60,000 dollars to re-attach the top of a finger! That alone shows you how far the whole thing went! It's a general perversion of the monetary system, the unbelievable lack of balance throughout the world!
Some people in Europe can live about ten years with that kind of money, and still have their fingers attached any time they get cut off by accident! Even in such poor countries where you can survive with 200$ a month, you will have no problem with that kind of thing.

    My question is:
HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT??

WHY DOESN'T SOMEONE STOP THIS AND TAKE AWAY THE POWER FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ALLOW THIS KIND OF PERVERSIONS??

And let me tell you one thing... that chart that shows Slovenia being beneath the U.S. on some kind of chart ... (with a little video showing and ridiculing a Slovenian traditional folk dance).... that made me laugh my ass off.. Slovenia has 1000 times better health care... what is this chart based on ??? I guess that Slovenia is much closer to Norway than the U.S. if you would only make an objective healthcare chart..
Even the guys who want to make a difference in the U.S., like Michael Moore are wrong.. even they don't see the big picture and don't present the right kind of data... but i guess that's only normal ;]

Just watching the rest of the movie, and i wanna add one thing: America is cruel, oh so cruel and so focused on money and power. And i can't believe the lies that people in power get away with (the part where they LIE on TELEVISION abotu Canada's healthcare).

    IT'S JUST OUTRAGEOUS !!!

And later, when Micael Moore comes to England.. i guess an average American can be scared into thinking that England is going communist too !

WHY DON'T YOU FIGHT THIS, DUDES ??????? !!!!
GET THE LIARS OUT OF THEIR COMFY SEATS !
    STOP BEING SO STUPID !

I would appreciate this video more (Moore?) if Mr. Michael Moore didn't have that sardonic and sarcastic droning voice which sets a tone that puts the viewer in a particular frame of mind. Either it bolsters the already negative views of hopeless anti-American/anti-Republican extremists, or it drives those on the fence towards an anti-liberal defensive posture, when they might otherwise consider this information to be fresh and inviting, and possibly worthy of considering in this country. We all understand that there are things that should be and in fact MUST be changed in regards to how this country and its people are progressing forward, but when Michael Moore condescends and forces this down our throats like we are small children who have some lesson to learn, I admit I am turned off. I believe that America made a mistake when it decided to let government do the thinking for us, and make no mistake, we've given our presidents far too much power and have done so LONG before "Bush/Cheney". The buzz-words disgust me. "Bush" this, and "Bush" that, or "Democrats" this and "Clinton" that. HELLO! What the hell is wrong with people? Finger pointing and name calling are preschool behaviours. Oooooh!!!! Georgie did a bad thing! I'M TELLING!!!!!!! Ooooooooooh! did you see what Billy did with Monica? I'M TELLING!!!!!! get OVER IT! do something about it that's PROACTIVE!!!! Run for office! Vote for more than just the president! Make a donation to your favorite cause. SOMETHING, but don't just sit there and waggle your little fingers and say "SOMEONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING". Someone? Who is that? You? Me? Little Joey in the corner with his thumb up his ass? Look, i KNOW that this video seems like the perfect example of what we're missing out on and just ONE MORE reason to vote democrat and not republican. But that's the problem, you see. GOP vs. DEMS. Who the F@#$ cares? Get over yourselves and vote for who makes the most sense. If it's Ron Paul F-ing vote for him. If it's Obama? F-ing vote for him. But for your sake don't LIMIT yourselves to narrow-minded views simply because you're fed information from narrow-minded people. Take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt and DO YOUR RESEARCH. There is ALWAYS another side to EVERY story. A government designed by the citizens (by way of their vote)to support the citizens is VERY different from a government which proposes to "coddle" and "protect" citizens which it believes are incapable of doing these things for themselves. For the people. By the people. We... the people. Not "Them. The leaders". If we give away the power to choose, the power to decide for ourselves, then we lose everything this country was built upon. There is a fine line we walk, and it is a burden to have to make these hard decisions. But alleviate that burden, and we lose all freedoms. 1984, A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451 (NOT 911), and a host of other novels were NOT just blowing smoke. GET OFF YOU PARTISAN ASSES and make REAL decisions, even if they cross party lines. This video speaks volumes and should not be disregarded as poignant and informative, but people like Michael Moore only serve to preach. Be wary, and be informed. Most importantly, be proactive.

Republicans... Why do you want to use your tax-money on killing both Iraqis and your own soldiers instead of making healthcare better? It is beyond my understanding. Invading a country for non-existing weapons? We have the CIA for gathering intelligence.
Bill Clinton gave the rest of the world the impression that we Americans weren't as bad as they thought, then Bush Jr. came and ruined it all. Way to go, republicans...
  • Slavko · 1 year ago
@ Anarcane - good points but don't go bashing Moore for telling us some obvious things and deliberately using such a stupid voice.
    Moore speaks to the un-educated and mis-informed (90%? 95%?)
All the people who allready know this should be on his side because it's the only way to wake some of those other people up.
There's too many stupid people arround and whoever's in power, and whoever comes to power next will practically do the same thing - make them more stupid by telling them lies or pointing them in the wrong direction for his own benefit.

    @ John & Anarcane together:
If i hear one more word about Republican, Democrat, Liberal or Conservative, i'm gona puke. This s**t is way beyond that.

Voting alone isn't gona change anything!

You gotta MAKE the ones who get voted next to change things and make them right and true, instead of all the lies and wrong things we encounter in our everyday lives. Gotta make THEM understand that it's just their job to make our lives better (OUR = THE WORLD). Let them know that they're not IN POWER but merely performing a a function they're supposed to be qualified for.

Get informed, see through their very obvious, thin lies. It's the politicians who are insulting our intelligence, most of all.

    Reply to Slavco:

You must be smart enough to know then, Salivaco, that you would be spending time in jail if you go up against the power that does not even count the votes at this point. I have spent time in jail for doing nothing more than speaking and calling them thieves, so tell us how dedicated you are after you have had them try to fuck with you and your family.

Otherwise just keep wishing they go away, and that Jesus is returning soon.

As far as that drip piece of shit Moore, he supports the Democrats that strike deals with insurance companies faster than the re-pubelichens do.

In Wisconsin, our governor showed up with unsurance financed marketing firms from Boston to get elected. Then he went on vacation to China and Ireland for his first administration, came home just before his next election, then through some money to the lazy do nothing DNR and the near do nothing right school teachers, and got re-elected.

I will give the stinking Irishman governor this much, he doesn't even have to try very hard, because the guys running against him think that they should be able to steal land from anybody they feel like stealing it from and give it to their friends. This state is real third world. Come visit, and I will give you a tour of criminal cases against more than one person, that would scare you into wishing that the enquisitions would start again.

Number one growth industry in Wisconsin = The private prison industry. The people in the courthouse intend to keep it that way, and they are dumb enough to think that is a great idea.

All you have to know about the insurance industry in this country is that it is underwritten/re-insured entirely by three companies in England.
Moore is too cowardly and too connected to the Dem party to tell you that, because those same three companies buy and sell your democratic party. All of this money goes through Massachusetts or New York on the way out of this country to England(just paper I know, but obviously that is your wealth and future opportunity.)

If you want to know how corrupt and bad the insurance companies can make your government, then just go out and try to use that piece of paper that the companies sold you. Why ask Moore if it works? Just go try and use it for anything other than a physical and see how miserable they make it.

A final word: This country has tons of people in prison for doing nothing more than trying to collect on a life insurance claim. If your spouse dies and you go to collect on the claim, the insurance companies and their private investigation firms will find a local detective or sheriff to make it look like you killed her(tons of people in prison for this). If you don't settle for less than half of what the policy says you are owed, you will be in prison or at least tried by a jury of your idiot peers that work in a government job and haven't had a hard dick or seen one for half a decade.

Why didn't Moore mention this? He is a fucken two-bit weasal, that cannot afford to tell the truth or the Dems will close down his fat farm for not giving equal time to other people's duck calls from the latrine.

Just in case you think that the judges and skumbag district attorneys will protect you: In every county and city that has elected judges and district attorneys, they have insurance companies as the largest single contributors to their campaigns. Ask the fucken skumbags where they get their money from, and you will have some girl claiming you fondled her genitalia.

Moore is another phoney distraction, but he says more than the other media trash nobody should listen to.

No offense, but you people have not lived very much if you have not figured this out.

If you are waiting for somebody else like Moore to do your bidding for you, then you barely deserve your rights.

To his credit, Moore is afraid of being jailed for telling the truth, just like he should be, so he censors himself like all cowards do.

Now get down to that courthouse and fight for your rights. Call me from jail a few weeks later at (612) BR-549.

That is incredible. Naturally, it won't really be that perfect seeing as it is Michael Moore reporting and nothing he says is ever the whole truth. But even so, it is still incredible. The problem is the context. The USA is so huge and has so many different cultures within it that it must be near impossible to enforce a system such as Norway's over the entire country. I live in Britain and I find it hard to imagine that working easily over here, so how it could ever work in the US is beyond me. And I have to say, people moan enlessly about the NHS in Britain, so our health service certainly isn't perfect. But it still sounds infinitely better than the US's "service".
Maybe our countries couldn't work like that because we're all just so angry the whole time. "Arrgh! They let a murderer work in a forest with a chainsaw! They must be mad! Let's lock up the murder along with the people who thought it was a good idea to rehabilitate the murder and see how they like it! Yeah, that's a good idea. Kill them all".

This is an answer to perfect Frederick. I thought I should point a few things too. You, European feel that you are righteous. After pillaging the word for 500 hundred years, now you feel superior to anybody else. While my loved USA is not perfect, we have to do the dirty work for tiny and not so tiny countries that are unwilling or unable to do by themselves. What are the norses best known for: the brutal Vikings! I would like to know the latest Norwegian accomplishment since dynamite. Not for medical discoveries, drug development, computer hardware or software, technical developments of industrial machinery, cars or planes. Certainly are not excelling in the arts, music, movies, theater. Not the most generous economic aid giver to poor nations. Norway can exist because USA produces for them all innovation and so you can enjoy them without a penny spent in development. Norway can exist with their island mentality because they ban immigration that would dilute that blond hair, those pretty blue eyes, or proud mid class. No wonder they cozy up with Hitler a few years ago. And then I quote you with your charming own words "all you racist, right-winged Americans screaming comminusts and zog-slaves, spare me..."
    Frederick: spare meeeeeeeeeeeee
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
    Reply to Daniel:

I think that Frederik just stated openly that,"We are a democracy, the US isn't. We have a literate, well-educated population and a strong middle-class. The US has an illiterate, poorly-educated population with a large diffentiation between the high a low classes, and a middle-class that is under a lot of pressure. We are a society based on care, equality and liberty, the US a society run by homosexual men that makes worship to Moluch, sacrificing "dull care", invading and occupying numerous countries, chem-trailing its own population and spying on its own population."

I agree with Frederik. He also stated very plainly in his first sentence that he would like to change some things about his society, personally, not as a dictator would.

We are no longer a democracy, our government is letting people poison us so that they can help British pharmaceutical companies re-poison us with a pseudo-cure(s), and we have no control over any of this, because the British run our media for dullards like you to adhere to simple minded rhetoric. that is where I also agree with Frederik that the majority of us are intentionally kept uneducated and socially castrated.

The Norwegians were forced by NATO and the UN to take on immigrants that had no business wanting to be Norwegians, and made terrible Norwegians. That was done just to try to harm them as a nation, not because goofballs wanted to live there.

They are remarkably decent and civilized people, as compared to stupid Americans. And there are few Americans that are not stupid. In or out of the University setting where they squander our rights away for the drug companies, literally poisoning us.

Try to read for detail, rather than agenda. Thenm compare what your government gives you in return for all of the taxes we have, and what other governments return to their citizens. We only get stolen from, then we steal from other countries to give it to Britain. We are a colony of Britain still, and we are using my tax dollars to benefit thieves.

You spend to cover this war and our failed banking, but you spend your own money for that foolishness. Not mine.

Frederik certainly needs the free Psychiatric care that the " wonderful" system in Norway provides for "free", also Robert, Your statement that the US is a society ran by homosexuals denotes a personality who has the capacity to fantasize about conspiracy theories. Maybe you need to fly to Norway and be examined .

I am a first generation American, my parents moved here from Norway in 1950. I visit my family often in Norway and we are close.

Michael Moore's representation of Norway is accurate, but since the premise is to compare to the US, he has neglected some critical facts that make Norway what it is today.

    1. Their vast oil holdings are used to support their generous social programs of vacation/maternity leave, retirement pay, health care, etc. Norway is an OPEC nation. Norway actually pulls their oil out of the ground (North Sea), while in the US we are not allowed to, due to environmental fears. These huge oil reserves support a tiny nation of only 4 Million people. Their population has remained consistent for at least 10 years. Norway has far superior environmental credentials than the US, but they have no problem pulling oil out of the ground and contributing to an industry that generates greenhouse gases. An odd contrast to the US. They suffer no guilt over this and no one takes them to task. I commend Norway for using its rich natural recourses to allow a high standard living for all residents, not only a few. This is not so in the oil-rich Arab nations.

    2. Norway is a mono culture. Look at the video again. You will not see diversity. In the early 80's they imported a number of Pakistani refugees, but put a stop to it when crime rates increased. They have a very restrictive immigration policy, unlike the US that has a vast array of cultures. Norway's health care problems are predicable and manageable since everyone has evolved from a similar diet, gene pool, environmental influence, etc.

Michael Moore would be credible if he was more forthcoming with facts that lead to greater understanding of why a country like Norway can afford the luxury of a socialistic society.

It's interesting to compare costs and types of surgery in different healthcare systems a bit more methodically than in Sicko. Google Answers did a nice write-up of surgery in Canada, with a particular emphasis on costs compared to the US:

Surgery Costs in US and Canada

It's worth a look, if you're interested in knowing a bit more about how healthcare operates in different countries.

I guess you are saying that you know enough about macro economics to claim that we here in the US cannot afford medical care for our citizens? That is far from the mark or kroner.

Every country has income generating natural resources, so you only need go to the CIA Factbook on the web to learn how rich each one is.

It is really a philosophical difference in how you treat your citizens at a minimum standard, and theirs is to respect and take care of them. Not wait until an epidemic breaks out, then force tainted medicine and vaccines onto them(sorry, but that day has and is again coming).

If you want to see working healthcare plans just look at any European country, not counting the snaggle-toothed Britsh imbreds either. No need to compare to Canada, since theirs is insurance based and in its infancy. Most of those statistics are old too, and very selective to make canada's system look like it is failing. they pay about $120.00 per six months for full coverage including eye care. This is no worse of a plan than any of you have. I don't see doctors, except for emergencies and legal neccessity, so I have paid for nothing my entire life, into indurance.

If you need magazines, and even worse, web-based bullshit to justify your opinions on anything, then you are outright stupid. Especially, since you are not even using your real full names(the sign of a coward afraid of everything including your bosses).

This month's New York Times [monthly]Magazine has an article about how most of the world views our system versus the European's. It is a magazine, but their writers are thorough, and less full of shit than most other pubelichations.

Next thing you know, you will all be trying to compare working medical systems to Iraq and afghanistan's fledgling systems, and wondering why your insurance didn't pay your bill here at home. You all have yet to have a serious enough medical bill to have learned your lesson, and worse yet, have no imagination beyond your next birthday and next 20/20 news report for fifth graders and idiots.

Even our lousey government(both parties)admits the system is in a failed state, yet you fools keep trying to say it works because you fear change. I paid for years and used none of it, so who is counting that into the equation?

Grow a pair or go back to where ever it is you crawled out from under, because we have enough cowards and dolts in this country for uncle swine to make it easy for them to steal from us.

You spineless fools must like paying for them to be taken care of from "cradle to grave", but cannot figure out why that is. Those of you already in Unkle Swine's camp, well, just go back to sleep and go to the doctor again tommorro so you can miss some more hours at work. Nobody misses you anyway.

    Reply to Robert Kunferman,

Were you really replying to me? I didn't see any relevance in your post to what I was talking about. I had only three points. Try to focus, I'll keep it simple with only one sentence each:

    1. Norway sucks oil out of the ground and uses it to pay for wonderful social programs that lifts the overall standard of living for ALL its citizens.

    2. Norway has a society with predictable and limited medical problems due to the fact that they are a mono-culture.

    3. Michael Moore is not honest about item one and two above.

If you can't respond to my comments then don't say you're responding to me.

Answer to #1, #2, and #3: Just go to the CIA Factbook websight, and even somebody who eats potatoes with salt on them(albeit still probably too spicey for him) can see that we have the income to support a socialized medical system.

I thought I made that clear.

My other point would be that having a closed society that does not allow others in, may be detrimental to a culture, since you are exposed to less diverse deseases for your auto-immune response to develop accute limitations to these deseases.

You have not been here long enough to even imagine the struggle most Americans have gone through to not have good medical care. this place was run pretty rugged for most families, just to have you come here and not realize that it created a lot of wealth that did not benefit the workers.

America's problems are so simple to solve. But when you have populace that simply wants their country to do everything for it and take care of its every need, you cannot solve the problem.Under those demands, the problems only get worse. Government is not the solution, it is part of the problem.
If we put our elected leaders on a strict budget, cut all the earmarks out (like the Alaska bridge to no where), you'd be amazed how much money would be flowing through our coffers.

But most of you people want the government to coddle you from birth to death. Anytime you expect the government to care for your every need, you lose so much. Too bad most of you have no clue how good life could be if you only held your elected leaders to some financial discipline .

A corrupt government is the problem. Not whether or not a government provides laws and services needed to run a viable and productive, fair, society. Get rid of the corruption and BS lawmaking, and you can do whatever else you like. Problem is really in all of the expensive thieving going on. By the government. Both parties.

I would have to assume that if he could have run to the airport and could have become a Norwegian citizen he would have.

Many Republicans in this country are Episcopalians, and attend or did attend private Episcopalian colleges that do not let local police onto the campuses to extract money from and foul the criminal records of some of our future politicians, so underage drinking is tolerated and goes unreported. As do many other campus crimes that render others unelectable.

Most forienors don't have a clue just how corrupt and rotten this country is.

    Get a clue, Trulte.
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
I will explain how corrupt insurance is in the USA, and begin by saying that there is absolutely no federal regulation of insurance(no laws). The politicians in the Dem and Repube camps all take campaign bribes to not regulate them effectively in every state. Almost all judges receive campaign contributions to make sure insurance companies don't have to pay the claims that they agreed to when they took your premiums. And some people are so dumb that they keep electing the two party system in to keep it this way. Right Josh. Republicans can't read law, history, or anything else that pertains to fact.

Here goes for the last time: Let's say you want a medical or dental procedure done. If it is billed at $4000.00, and your copay is 20%, then you must first pay $800.00(20% of 4000 is 800 for you Josh).

So what many idiots in the United States think that insurance pays the other 80% or $3200.00, but they do not. They actually pay about 1.4 times as much as you did(on average), because they have told the hospitals, your employer, your policy personel that if they want British insurance money for real, not just promises on paper, they will have to accept that or not be a provider for that medical insurance. Remember that med insurance always has limitations on where you can use it, and all of the places where your medical insurance is able to be used pay a minimum of $1000.00 per month, so they can buy you as a patient, more or less, from the insurance companies.

    Having trouble following here Josh?

Now, your employers pay these thieves that buy your politicians(both parties obviously, but moreso the Dems) a premium on your behalf every month, so after the doctor pays insurance, you pay 20% of a totally arbitrary and capricious number($4000.00 in this example), and your employer pays part or all of your premium(s), then the insurance is out nothing, and even makes money off of doing almost nothing useful in this process.

Even you Josh, should be able to figure out that I am not even counting that weekly charge they have on your gross income for family plans, eyecare, the yearly deductable, etc. etc. etc., because I realize that when you get confused you call everything socialist.

So what is the problem? It looks like the media that gts advertising money from these thieves, the polticians that get their campaigns paid fr by these thieves, and the businesses that get cheap labor should be happy, and the British underwritten/re-insured get huge profits with absolutely not spending a dime of their money, except for advertising and buying politicians with.

The problem is similar to the problem with a large wasteful government. Corporations don't think that these thieves are worth paying for, so the entire burden to paying for worthless useless government workers and worthless useless insurance trash gets shifted to those people dumb enough to think our government does anything for us, and are equally dumb enough to think insurance loses money on anything. Josh, you probably think insurance loses money, when it is virtually impossible for that to happen, and quite the oposite, they don't even pay what they claim they pay.

We have more government employees per capita than any of the western European countries(Britain is not civilized, so I don't count that imbred trash as part of Europe.

If we have all of this near useless government doing nothing in return for us on federal, local, and state levels, insurance that is totally corrupt, politicians on the take with "cradle to grave total coverage", and all of this almost totally and entirely benefitting England(another nation for those geographically challenged like Josh is), then that is absolutely no resemblance of the Western European countries "socialist" system.

The piece of shit fat swine Moore has willfully ignored this corruption, and got paid well by certain people in the media camp not to tell you this.

Grow up and read for yourselves and get a calculator before you run down the streets claiming that our government is not corrupt and manipulating our health for their benefit. A thief is a thief no matter how many media outlets they control.

Most Europeans know, if not at least intuitively, how corrupt our government is, but on occasion one gets permafrost on their brain.
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
If you are waiting for the media clowns to tell you this, or the bought and paid for univesities to educate you on this, then you are just plain fucken stupid. It is funny that as obvoious as it should be, you people cannot figure it out that the chain of people that allowed Moore to get his videos marketed through them, would never have let even one video see the light of day if he told you just how corrupt this system is.

Start thinking or you will lose everything you own to this corruption.

Does this mean that you were dumb enough to vote for Bush, and you are also dumb enough to not be able to realize that Hillary and bill have been in our government for a long time, and still have no plan on health care?

I was in Norway in the early 1980's and it did not make me so stupid that I could not recognize a liar or two when I saw them.

The people who buy and sell our politicians are not going to relinquish the insurance premiums they use to steal from Americans.

The trial lawyers love it that we have courts full of cases which are nothing more than insurance companies not wanting to honor the contracts/claims that they agreed to pay.

To make socialized medicine work, you have to regulate and control doctor's salaries, and get the do nothing insurance companies out of the most lucrative do nothing part of our health care.

That is how you solve it there, champ. Not by writing more paragraphs that say nothing.
Also, don't live in one country and vote in another. It makes you look like you are hiding from your mistakes. At least you admit to voting for an idiot.

Now, I imagine you intend to vote for another equally idiotic clown like Mutual of Obama.
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
I will vote for Nader. He is the only honest man in the election, and he speaks to the public like we are part of the same nation.

You bragged about voting for Bush because you think he won, and the other drivel is just silliness.

We don't need even half of the police and firemen in this country. Most do nearly nothing all day, and that is statistically proven. If you need the clowns to protect you, then you should be the one who pays for their lazy asses. Same goes for our wasteful military complex. I know I don't need them, so you will have to learn that yourself.

Anybody that the British press is making silent and unknown is someone I should vote for as well.

The socialized medical systems of germany, switzerland, France, and Scandanavian countries all work very well, and there are tons of side benefits to having that peace of mind, and fair medical treatment in place. You are not able to do formal thought process or you would have realized why they do it.

If we do what I am sure we will do, and that is make a system designed to fail from the start, and do it in a very expensive way, then we will add to the problem. That is why I am concerned. If I were in Norway, I would not be worried about it, either, but I would not spew drivel about the generalities. I posted facts here about how insurance works.
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
Reply to rasmussen: the reason you are irritating is that you don't even read for fact(s), then reply with dull drivel.

We have no need to buy out insurance from anybody. They have been selling paper, clogging our courts fighting not to pay(75% of all cases in civil court), and mostly cutting the benefits now that the "baby-boomers" want to use them.

Actually that is the third time I had to say that, and you repeat what other governments have done in totally non-related fashion. Read, educate yourself, then come back with a bland, boiled potatoe response.

No other country in europe would allow for an entire legal system to be created for insurance companies that don't want to pay their claims.

You are so dull witted you don't even know how your own country makes health care work. Again, for those a little slow on the uptake: no other country let's you sell paper(insurance contracts) that you do not have to pay the claims for. And none would waste taxpayers time having civil courts clogged with insurance companies trying to get out of their commitments.

Read next time, then respond, or don't at all. It is that or you are just plain daft. If the shoe fits wear it. Otherwise refute these facts that are irrefutable. Excuse the spelling. Otherwise I like Norwegians, but I doubt you are one.

Sorry Rasmussen, but I read your bit about voting for Bush, did accept and actually agree that Moores film was better than nothing, but if you heard what the remedies are for our failing healthcare plan here at home you would shit your pants.

So far this morning on the radio, I heard a clown with a doctorates degree, claim that both parties agree that the system is failing, then this democratic bootlicker started bringing it up that he thought the public needed to exercise more, and had his patseys from the lazy government swine camp call in and act like they had an original thought themselves. Obviously the plants had the same thought. Shuckerbea, a Republican candidate, claimed that, "If we did not like healthcare now, then just wait until the hippies start getting their drugs for free, and see how much that costs."

Actually, my wife and I are now researching our prospects for leaving the country, since beyond healthcare, these are the levels of debate our goofy country, that is very expensively and ineffectively run, has on every political subject. I have no more hope for us, since even the formally educated people I know, are so greedy and foolish that they fail to see the good in doing things fair and proper.

I accept the other faults, but there was a girl stabbed to death in my city that fails to allow me to protect myself, and fails to protect me, so it is expensiuve and stupid. they had a phoney SQUAT team vehicle that costs the city 1.5 million dollars there at the scene of the crime when the girl was killed in her apartment just 2 blocks from the precinct headquarters.

Al show and no go is how you may want to say the shows are run here. The SQUAT team is unnecessary, as is the stupid expensive command center, but most of all, none of it would be necessary if they just had social services that provided housing, food, and medical care. And if it did happen, then it would be a lot easier to find the guy and prevent it, if we did not have such waste in the government that we create more problems than we solve.

I have seen enough of this stupid monkey show, and I am old enough to appreciate peace of mind.

    Tak

People who work for a living, like construction workers and delivery men/women already excercise all day, and I think they still get sick. this is how they refuse to listen to anybody, and can easily find lazy democratic party and republican party swine to create silly insulting distractions from the facts. Actually, this is mostly the democratic party doing this, since Mutual of Obama receives a ton of money from insurance and the East hill gangs of boston the insurance capital of America.

    Message to Robert Kunferman,

Take a chill pill and relax. You seemed hell-bent on debating people whether they agree with you or not. I'm Californian with ancestral roots in Norway. I saw Moore's video on it, and it describes exactly what I know about my ancestral roots. Norway's a beautiful country, just look at the conservative American who's been living there for 7 years and can do nothing but praise the place.
The Republicrats will never be able to achieve such a high level of social justice. Their mantra is based on a class system where the majority are bred to be the slaves of the few. Norway is way beyond that. Actually, all of Scandinavia is way beyond that.

Instead of fomenting nonexistent differences and antagonistic debate, why not embrace what they've achieved and spread the good word. Those who opposed the Republicrats' totalitarian regime of class warfare need to unite and speak with a common voice for a common good brought about through a common goal.

Let's face it, Norway kicks derriere. Their pizzas soock though. Don't order a pizza there. But the rest is fantastic. I'm from the Olden family north of Trondheim and proud to be able to call Norway my ancestral home.

    Reply to John Little:
I never said in the least bit that I don't like Norwegians, except when I ordered a hamburger and got a ham burger. Also the meat in brown sauce scared me when nobody knew what the meat was.

I trained at the Jaegerschool in Trondem, and still like it there, so you must have read me wrong. Also all of my wife's relatives are Norwegian.

I also remember the Lingenkluben., so your not correct in your assessment.

Moores film did not even touch the tip of the iceburg of pure corruption, and I am correct in telling you that if he had, his film would have never seen the light of day.

Mutual of Obamas largest campaign contributors are and will continue to be insurance companies who will make our medical system totally useless to many in states like mine.

My state of Wisconsin ranks 38th in medical care already, and 40th economically. Our mothers both live here, so we feel very bad about leaving and staying. California is a much richer state, so you can relax more.

Moore's film was much better than anything on 60 minutes, PBS, and 20/20, so he is at least not on the insurance company payrole like these others, but it really did not show just how systemically corrupt our government is.

Otherwise, I am a fan of European government's logical approach and already apologized to Rasmussen.

    Tak for day.
  • Robert Kunferman · 1 year ago
    Thank you Rasmussen:
Just for the sake of argument, which is almost always free, the "crazy lawsuits" you refer to are mostly just media exagerations. Like the Mcdonald's case, a case that even some trial lawyers did not like. The woman got less than $60,000, despite the media focused and favored story of $600,000 the jury awarded her. that covered her expenses, and wasn't worth the headache. Had they just admitted their role in it and offered to pay for her medical, it would have been resolved.
We have a lot of trial lawyers here, and they are kept in play by our lack of civil rights and fair play. The medical costs, lost wages, and all other matters of expense add up very quickly in these lawsuits because of high doctor wages, that never get paid in full, nor does the lost wages, and it is always a "Merchant of Venice" scenario as the "cut the baby in half" rather than doing the law. Everybody loses these days, except the lawyers. And insurance has nothing to lose on a big claim by defending it.

For the most part, it is all so simple and logical that even a caveman could figure it out, but for some reason they are able to distract our population with a ghecko or two, and their goes my rights and wallet as well.

It's good to hear from the world. I am no longer in attack mode.

Just vote the two party system out, and we can go back and prosecute these clowns for their crimes. They are stealing from you, and selling our rights to the British. The media is run by foreignors, and the economy is now based on printed money. How about that deal with the pork ban? These fuckers cannot imagine a world where politicians are not bought and paid for by foreignors, and American traitors.

They will give you nothing but fake distractions, and threaten you with cheap imported labor.

This is the absolute worst part of all of this: Our government, one example = Bill Frist, have been poisoning our citizens with the intention of making the British tons of money, and to enhance our physician's pocketbooks, as well as all of the dishonest doctors at Universities that benefit from research money to claim they are fighting disease. Most of this is now being done in secret, so there is no way to follow-up on any of it. They are spraying food crops destined for U.S. markets(Dyncorp) with paraquat, which will most certainly cause mutations/cancer. Nobody at any University will say anything about any of it, because their grant money comes from Unkle Swine, as does their loans for idiots to attend medical school for ten times what it is worth.

Simply put, we have a government that is run entirely on dishonesty and corruption, and we are getting stiffed with the bills for all of the problems they intentionally create. Then they will put dullards and foreinors at the head of the class to tell us that it is all good. Go figure.

Reply to XTV and his crazy mind:

Autoworkers do not make $58.00 per hour. As a matter of fact, the new auto workers coming in the door since 2006, will make about $11.00 per hour for the three years it takes for them to be Journeymen or full-scale waged. By the way, this concession was made way back in the last contract, so even before the official failures of these companies, and the Senate forceing Unions to make more concessions. Another easy to find fact for dishonest tidbitters is this: These new workers will never make the $17.00 per hour, or anywhere near that wage, or ever make what a 1991 journeyman autoworker got paid. That 1991 wage was about $17.00/hr pay and it required you to work ten hour days, so you worked the equivelent of 38 years(by the hours) to collect your 30 year pension.

Not even the maintenance men(highest pay under the contract) make $25.00 per hour, so your not even half right. You also fail to realize that unlike you, these guys work for a living. You sit around, possibly, possibly, putting in hours. You certainly don't actually work or produce anything other than Bullshit.

That story you tell is from the phonie British run press, and it is not true. That being said, the rest of your point is well taken. This inaccurate portrayal of foreinors interpretation about US government policies will be used over and over again to discredit you to the ignorrant Americans that watch British run TV, like XTV here.

If you keep it honest about the environment and our social shortcomings, then we can correct problems without as much confusion. Our government already has no plans whatsoever to correct any problems, but they intend to keep all sorts of confusion going while they buy votes with our tax dollars.

Better to tell us what it is like to live in a civilized country. Then let the people who do read(very few here read for fact)in the US, decide which is better.

The lawsuits you are speaking of go nowhere, Some are brought by lawyers, but they get gas and golf money, and the client gets jail-time. We have two thirds of the worlds lawyers here in the US. Nobody in either party plans to change that or limit the confusion they create. Not writing fair and effective laws is big business and it pays politicians well to keep it that way.
