Brave New Films: Give Sam Seder a Daily Show!

  • Rev. James Sofra · 1 year ago
Sam is superb radio. I admire his research and dedication.

I'd like to hear him in the early afternoon.
  • Therese Hentz · 1 year ago
Sam should never have been taken off weekdays! We need rational, intelligent information out here!

When Sam takes on tough subjects, opposition callers, sane discourse about insane situations -- the broadcast hours just fly by. Maybe this is because Sam's approach is so rich: I can depend on him to be energetic, intelligent, informed, shocked, reflective, curious, righteously indignant, prepared -- and dependably Sam's wry wit and humor are there reminding me to keep smiling, chuckling, laughing hard. I don't know how he gets the balance of seriousness and funniness -- but he's got the gift! Give this superb talent daily airtime.
  • Pete Forsyth · 1 year ago
Sam's sense of humor is unmatched on talk radio, and yet backed by great intelligence and political savvy...style AND substance. I was baffled by the initial demotion to a weekend show, and have listened as faithfully as I'm able in the meantime. Dismissing Sam as merely a "blogging expert" makes no sense. He understands the power of the Internet, but he understands it as a piece of the larger political picture, and does not overemphasize it. Sam Seder is Air America's greatest remaining talent, hands down, and will lead the network forward if given the chance.
  • Bruce · 1 year ago
I wish Sam Seder was on my radio everyday. Pound for pound I get more good laughs from Sam's show than any other and he's informative as well. We want Sam!
  • Votus · 1 year ago
Bring Sam Seder on 5 days a week! We love him on the left coast!
  • raven880 · 1 year ago
I don't know WHY on earth Sam would want to stay full time at Air America. It's a failing loser of a network and doesn't deserve his talent. But, if that's what he wants....to sentence himself to the daily pressure to conform to their idea of liberal radio, I wish him well and will sign the petition. But I think it's a BIG mistake.
  • Neal Boyd · 1 year ago
I flipped out when Sam was relegated to a Sunday-only show... I emailed AAR about it then, and I plan on being an annoying thorn in the side of everyone at AAR management unless they step up and put Sam back on the air on a DAILY BASIS. He's got skills, he's got facts, and he has a set of brass ones. I enjoy listening to Sam for my last two hours at work, then I catch his last hour (and Rachel's first hour) on my two hour commute home. The guy's golden, please do the right thing and give us our Sammy back in full force!
  • Mary Vollero · 1 year ago
Please, The only thing left to console me would be Sam!
Please have Sam Seeder in Randi's old slot, in fact her older spot of 3-7 would be even better!! Thanks, Mary
  • Rose · 1 year ago
Of the original Air America hosts only Sam remains. I wish that instead of the rethreads that have populated Air America lately, we get omeone youthful and refreshing like Sam. I really do miss listening to Sam during the week and here in NY we only get to listen to him for one hour on Sunday which is joke.

Please give Sam a daily show ideally, Randi's time slot 3-6pm. Thank you.
  • sara · 1 year ago
I would actually stay tuned to Air America if Sam Seder gets the afternoon time slot....pleeeeaaaassseee!!!!!
  • Jeanne Milholland · 1 year ago
I like Sam better than Randi anyway. Sam and Tom Hartman are the two that I try to tune into.
    Please give Sam the slot.
  • Claricei · 1 year ago
I'll keep saying forever if I have to. We need Sam Seder at least 3 hrs. a day, 5 days a week.
Actually 5 hrs. daily 7 days a week would be better.

IT IS TRUE that NO ONE CAN GET ENOUGH SAM SEDER~
    Claricei

    Sam 5 days a week!
  • Rose · 1 year ago
I just received the e-mail urging Sam's listeners to petition AAR to give Sam his own daily show again.

I loved Sam's daily show and was disappointed when AAR cut him back to just Sunday, but I do enjoy Seder on Sunday as well as when Sam fills in for other hosts when they're off.

I think Sam is a great talent and deserves his own daily show.

Having said that, I can't support Sam taking Randi's old AAR slot, and here's why: Randi's back on the air during that slot on her new home at Nova M. Many of the progressive radio stations that carried her AAR show do not just carry AAR's lineup, they carry a variety of other progressive hosts such as Jones Broadcasting's Stephanie Miller and Nova M's Mike Malloy. They may support progressive talk, but they're businesses, too, and as such will want to air the host that can bring in the most ratings, and therefore, the most money... many of them have already stopped airing AAR's 3-6pm programming and are going with Randi's Nova M broadcast.

As terrific as Sam is, I don't believe those affiliates will dump the number one progressive talk show host for him. I'd hate to see him get Randi's old AAR slot and not have the success he deserves because he'd be competing against Randi.

Frankly, if Sam's contract is nearly up, as the e-mail claimed, he should start talking to NovaM. Give it some time and NovaM will be the network AAR could have been if it had proper management.
  • Monorail · 1 year ago
Missed your daily show, have gotten to the point I only listen to Rachel. Would be great to get you back.

PS. I listen online, so affiliates don't matter to me.

As someone who listens to and writes about talk radio, Someone who listens to Radio Talkers from Left to Right - Sam has one of the most entertaining, accessible and informative shows.

He has a format that exposes and introduces bloggers, accepts contrarian liberal and conservative callers. He can bring in comedic, light hearted guests and serious, weighty ones as well. Sam also has a devoted following. His SammyCam and his work on the blog shows he is deeply invested in his brand/show/project and that he is interested in being with his audience. It would be nice to See Sam back on the air 5 days a week and getting a push.
  • Sandi · 1 year ago
I want Sam 5 days per week. I agree it would be better if he was not head-to-head with Randi, because we need both.

    That said, I want Sam!
  • Kim Sullivan · 1 year ago
Sam Seder is the next wave of radio. He is intelligent, insightful, funny as all get out, is technically forward, attracts great guests and has a rabid following. A no brainer for 5 days a week!

Give the public what it wants, which is Sam, and bring Janeane back too.
  • Kathryn · 1 year ago
Yes, Sam, I would like to hear you back on AAR. You are kind to give Randi Rhodes props but I confess I stopped listening to the station after you left. I got really tired of Randi's style and format (and rudeness). I always appreciated your broad-reaching, intelligent style. Hope to hear you back on AAR.
  • Stephanie Farkash · 1 year ago
Iwas an Air America subscriber mainly so that I could podcast Sam's show, and also Mark Maron and Mike Malloy. After seeing practically every show I loved canceled I let my membership lapse. Please give Randi's time slot to Sam and give us back one show we really love!!!
  • J Weaver · 1 year ago
Sammie is the best! Please recognize the talent you have right under your nose.
  • Anne · 1 year ago
Why isn't this a given? Sam has always been one of the best, give us what we want: SAM! SAM! SAM!
  • Gail K Dolly · 1 year ago
I also joined Air America Radio @ $100 per year for Sammy and Thom Hartmann. Then they dumped Sam for Lionel. I still tune in at 4:00 PM Sundays, but I miss my 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM daily fix and anytime Sam is covering for another broadcaster I am glued to my computer.

I think Sam's take on things is perfect, and though of course I love Thom, Sam has a certain quirkiness I love. At 65 years old I'm not a flaming young thing, but Sam appeals to me and I buy EVERY book he recomments. (I also buy the books Thom recomments too.) I have pleaded before and I am pleading again. I have already signed on to Nova M but have not yet withdrawn my $100 from Air America Radio. I am [] that close to getting my money back from AAR if Sam doesn't get Randi's spot.
  • Johnny E · 1 year ago
Sam is much better than Lionel. Give him more airtime.
  • Ashton · 1 year ago
I too purchased my AirAmerica Premium pass to listen to Sam on the Majority Report. I began listening to AAR when the podcast was free and eventually becameva paying customer when it became necessary.
When Sam's daily show was cancelled, I almost dropped my subscription, but I also found Thom and supported the idea of AAR. Fortunately Seder on Sundays came along to help me a little.
This was the first radio subscription I ever had, the second being when Sam sat in for someone on NovaM for a week. I subscribed for a month to hear his show and cancelled the next month. I will give NovaM my money if he is on again.

If Sam does not get a daily show, the next petition should not be to AAR, but to Sam. The next petition should be to get Sam to go leave AAR for NovaM because he deserves it.

I responded to the Seder reader within a minute of receiving it (half an hour after the Reader went out) and look how many responses are already in before mine.
  • Kat in NYC · 1 year ago
It's a no-brainer: Sam Seder 5 days a week on AAR!I don't think anyone at AAR is listening...
  • John McLeaish · 1 year ago
    I'm signing this petition,with skepticism that'll
make any difference.Sam Seder should go with
Nova M,or jones Broadcasting.I'm from the Bible
Belt and I'm disgusted by the way Air America Radio treated Randi Rhodes,Mike Malloy, and Marc Maron.
  • Susan Mayhew · 1 year ago
Sam deserves his own show - sorry Randi fans, I think Randi should have been long gone before her latest rant.
Sam - despite his penchant for pushing the Obama refrain (like all the AA hosts - eg. Ed Schultz - who calls Clinton supporters 'Clintonistas' comes immediately to mind) is far more intelligent than the other hosts weekdays and I really miss him. Since the primary's start, I've rarely listened to Air America - just got sick of the Clinton bashing but always loved Sam (something about being an EastCoaster stays with you).
Sam is cool and though I've turned off many of AA's hosts - I always looked forward to Sam.
Give the guy a 5 say slot - he's got a little kid to support.... lol
  • Constance Hansen · 1 year ago
You'd be stupid not to give Sam the big job. He's the man for the job. Everyone loves him. He's the last best thing AAR has got! Sam for 3-6pm! Sign him on and I'll start listening again.

    Sincerely,
    C. Hansen
  • Michelle · 1 year ago
Sam, Rachel and Thom Hartmann all the way!
  • Marc Tyler · 1 year ago
Sam Seder is a real bright spot in the Air America lineup. To relegate him to pinch-hitting and a sunday show is a real disservice to the audience. C'mon, Sam is great! Funny, informative, with frequent guest interviews instead of endless phone in yammering. When Sam does take calls, I actually stay to listen instead of looking down the dial for music. GIVE SAM A SHOW!
  • Helen Robertson · 1 year ago
SAM SEDER!!! Yea!!! Please, please, please schedule Sam Seder into the WeekDay afternoon time. He is intelligent, knowledgable, presents facts, listens to callers, challenges them politely... NEVER RANTS
  • Jim Kopanko · 1 year ago
Lionel was a huge, embarrassing blunder on Air America's part. WHY DO YOU REPLACE A TALENTED, GRACIOUS, HARD-WORKING, INFORMATIVE, HIP HOST with a smug, insecure asshole whose schtick is mocking and insulting his audience, and using obscure verbiage to prove his "intellectual superiority", over his listeners? Stupid, stupid, STUPID, Mark Green.

Who do you believe likes this? Do you HONESTLY think this pleases your progressive audience?

I've been a loyal AAR supporter from day-one, and have endured all your past shenanigans, but Air America management: PLEASE GIVE SAM SEDER A DAILY SHOW, or I'm gone from this network for good: There are alternatives elsewhere now--NovaM's lineup is ALREADY superior to your lineup. And I listen to them MORE at this point than I listen to you. Please don't make any more stupid decisions to drive your remaining audience away.

Mark Green: If you screw over Sam Seder again, that's the last I will ever bother to visit your network again.
  • Jon Butcher · 1 year ago
    Yo Sam,
I am without a doubt a Sammite, that said I hope you'll speak truth to power when you're safely ensconced in your new weekly time slot. Stand tall, brother.
One day what they tried to do to Randi they'll do to you. Standing tall means that when that day comes, we'll be behind you.
    Rock it.
  • Leslie Wilson · 1 year ago
I am a big fan of Sam and I hope he will be the replacement for Randi now that she is gone. (She should NOT have been suspended!) He comes the closest of those left on AAR to fill Randi's place and I hope that AAR will at least have enough common sense to understand this.
    otherwise zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • Rocheux · 1 year ago
I think Mr. Seder merits your consideration to fill the spot left open by Ms. Rhodes. As well I think you did the right thing with Ms. Rhodes. She was a little crude to me and I don't know how she could be so obtuse as to not know how offensive her use of the word "God" to Christians. Like Rhodes & Seder, I was raised Jewish and a lot of Jewish folks use the word "God" pretty frequently unless they get out of the ghetto mindset and realize it is offensive to Christian folks who make up the majority religion in this country. Now if we could get Sam to stop using the word "uh" so frequently, he'd be PERFECT. I do think Seder would be a good host for the vacant spot.

Sam, I would love to hear your old show again. You leaving was one of the first cappers to me no longer listening to AAR. I fought hard to keep you in my area when they were trying to get rid of you and Rachel. You came back, only to be tossed from AAR. :( The station's seeming direction was the next and then Randi's path was the final cap. Randi became an intolerable rant machine. Her show became just about her. She was impatient, she no longer provided facts, she was rude to callers, wouldn't admit a mistake and she turned to a rag show rarely making any sense. She started reporting on what was covered on TV from days ago. I felt like I was listening to Keith Obamamann on the radio. (even before he became Obamamann) She used the airwaves to propagate her own agenda and her end justified the means and I could no longer listen to any. Talk about a circular firing squad. And you all are supposed to know better, therefore the conduct is even worse than RW who do the same thing.

I was going to sign your petition, but then I heard you were defending Randi's actions and that put an immediate stop. I was afraid, OMG, his mentor? what if he became like Randi?

But you were smart, and used that email list. So, if AAR wants to start repairing some damage and you can do your intelligent, fact full, witty show again, that would be the first step.
  • Larry Miller · 1 year ago
Please put Sam Seder back on the air five days a week! I always enjoy it when he fills in for RR; he has a great sense of humor, an encyclopedic knowledge of public affairs, and if just plain fun to listen to.
  • Rodger Sheehan · 1 year ago
I miss listening to Sam Seder. He always did a great job when he used to cover for Randi and Al Franken back in the day. In fact he carried the show when he was teamed up with Janeane Garolfalo- (no offense, Janeane he was just good)

I never understood why AirAmerica buried him on Sunday when there were clearly some weak spots in their daily lineup that his talent could help out with. Now that there is this afternoon opening, they should give him a shot. I am sure he will help them rebuild the ratings.

I know I will tune in again.
    Respectfully,
    Rodger
  • toosinbeymen · 1 year ago
No offense to Rachel or Thom but to me, Sam has the best show on AAR. I've been a premium member and Sam Seder listener for 2 and a half years and was greatly disappointed when he was moved to Sunday. He has more of what I want to hear, that is, insightful liberal commentary.

The management of AAR is LUCKY to have this second chance in life. Don't blow it this time, PLEASE.
  • Smartcookienyc · 1 year ago
I enjoy listening to Sam very much. He's got a very good balance of humor and giving me the news that I want to hear.

Of course, he is great filling in for Randi. And I enjoy making my Sunday afternoon family dinner with Sam on the air. I would prefer to hear Sam daily, but during non-work hours - evenings after Rachel Maddow or mornings -- even very early morning where the young Turks used to be. (By the way - Richard Greene does his show but he doesn't have much of a sense of humor.)
  • Nancy L. · 1 year ago
Streaming Randi on NovaM for her first day back made me really miss Sam on AAR. I loved hearing Sam while he was filling in and looked forward to it. I, for one, will not be listening to your month long line up of guest hosts experiment.

Sam really deserves his old AM slot again, but I am sure would do better than any other permanent liberal host you could get to go up against RR. My local station (WCPT) doesn't even pick up most of AAR's programming anymore instead going with Jones/NovaM syndicated shows. They may be one the few affiliates that might keep AAR live in the 2-5 time slot.

    Good Luck.
  • steve · 1 year ago
Does it even fucking matter what Air America listeners think to this ownership group?

Mark Green is an egomaniacal Hillary shill.

Richard fucking Belzer?! This network doesn't deserve Sam Seder.
  • peter quinn · 1 year ago
It would be nice if Mark Green could do one correct thing in his political and business life .Sam Seder is the best thing that ever happened to AAR .It would be to everyones advantage to give him a daily slot. I subscribed to Sam 's morning program and to Stephanie Miller's morning program and alternated listening live to one or the other. Now all i have is Stephanie and the hope that Sam will be substituting for a regular host. He is a natural for radio... speaking as someone who grew up with Bob and Ray on Boston radio.
  • Trista · 1 year ago
Love you Sammy. I was very disappointed when the the Majority Report was replaced. I tuned in daily to hear what you had to say and how to get active. Sam Seder on Sunday was also a great show, but since it was on the weekend harder to tune in.

Randi is great and will be missed. She turned me on to C-Span.

Lionel was good during the Scooter Libby trial, but can't listen to him now.

We truly need you back during the week. Sam, you are the best person to fill Randi's shoes. You are charming, honest, a hard worker, and have a great sense of humor. In fact you have to be my favorite talk show host.
  • Aaron Clow · 1 year ago
I have to agree with LindainSFNM's comment about Randi. Her show used to be informative, but lately it *was* all about her. Do I care to hear the first hour of the show about what she did over the weekend? I think fifteen minutes might have sufficed for that. It was all Randi, all the time. I can't say I'm sorry to see her go. She really needs some time to figure out what her goals are.

That said, Sam just gets better every time I hear him. His shows over the past couple weeks were just killer. I thought Air America was a network that was trying to infuse a bit of humor with some extremely topical content. No one does that better than Sam Seder. Rachel is a close second, but she's a bit too kitschy for me sometimes. There is very little left on AAR to listen to these days. Please give us a reason to tune in. Put Sam on from 3-6pm. He's paid his dues, he's fine-tuned his performance, and he's always giving us excellent guests and important information. It's tough to make people laugh when you're also supposed to talk about the erosion of our civil rights, a slipping economy and criminals in charge of the government. Sam does it, and does it better than anyone else on your network.

Enough ass-kissing. Just please... Give him the 3-6 for god's sake!!
  • Richard Roadman · 1 year ago
Sammy is the best. I wish he was on 24 hours a day! He is that good.
  • suescannon · 1 year ago
I loved listening to Sam. I hope he gets a daily show.

After Air America's big screw-up with Randi, I don't know if working for them is a wise thing, Sam, but I do wish you the best.

Well, Air America: Will you FINALLY do something worthwhile for your listeners ONCE? Give us something we want! Give me some hope that my devotion to AAR has not been in vain and give Sam Seeder his own daily show. Please. Please. Pleeeze.

Thom, Ring of Fire, and Sam Seder are the best of a great lineup. Give Sam 15 hours a week. You're lucky to have him.
  • Michael Conway · 1 year ago
Love Sam and would love for him to get the time slot.
  • Robert · 1 year ago
Air America, PLEASE put Sam back on daily in Randi's slot. We're in a bit of a pickle here, in case you haven't noticed! Sam is the best, most inspiring, funniest host you have on your airwaves!

Randi will be missed. Yes, she is emotional and bombastic, but she has her place, and brought tons of listeners. Her "leaving" was not fair.

In New York, we also now miss Tom Hartman, who was replaced by the local affiliate by Ed Schultz, who is a nightmare. Even Lionel was replaced here by some crackpot vitamin informercials like they play all weekend.

BTW, According to Randi on CNN and others, Mark Greene's brother sold AAR to some guy named Kireker or something like that, and he's the one who wanted to "re-negotiate" Randi's contract.

I haven't been able to listen to Lionel for more than 5 minutes.

Sam Seder is one of just a handful of productive voices remaining in the wilderness that Air America has become. He addresses the issues with acuity, enthusiasm, and erudition. Keep Sam on and we'll keep listening. OK, we'll buy some of your sponsors' products too.
  • Matthew L. Weiss · 1 year ago
Give renewed life to one of the few truly intelligent talk shows on any kind of network! A national resource if freedom of the press means anything! SAM EVERY DAY!
  • Dirk Dodd · 1 year ago
So many comments here that mirror my own. First and foremost: Sam back on radio 5 days a week...a no-brainer. Along with Rachel, the guy is the freaking franchise there at Air America. Management, WAKE UP!!

Second: Green brothers, TWO no-brainers for taking Sam out of the daily line-up and replacing him with Lionel. GAWWWD! What were they thinking?

I agree with John M. voicing skepticism that any of this will register with the powers that be there at AAR. Marron, Malloy, Seder, Unfiltered, Hartman...so much talent dismissed from the airwaves (in the NYC market, anyway.) So discouraging. The Seder/Lionel swap was an enormous insult. Bad track record, AAR. We'll see...

Anyway, yes, fer cryin' out loud...MORE SAMMY!

WWJD...? SAM, FIVE DAYS A WEEK!

    (...it's what He'd do.)

First I want to say that I love Randi. She was the reason I listened to Air America. During the last election as it became ever more apparent that the outcome was not as it seemed, her tenacious reporting and exposing kept me from going insane with frustration. It was an enormous mistake letting her go.That being said, whenever Sam Seder covered for her, I stayed tuned. He carried on her tradition of daring reporting with a joyful sense of humor. After working all day, it was what I needed on the ride home. Keep Sam Seder- I dread the next several months trying on different hosts. You've found the right one already.
  • Johnny M · 1 year ago
At the risk of being a spoiler, the love fest for Randi baffles me. Why would you want to listen (or call in) to a show where the host ridicules callers--particularly ones who agree with her-- and repeats the same messages over and over an over with a limited vocabulary.

SAM! Now there's a guy with a brain and a genuine wish to debate people who disagree with him without shouting them down. I love him. Put him back on. Next to Rachel and Thom he is THE host!
  • slim · 1 year ago
Our son L. knows how I cherish my few weekly hours with Sam Seder on Sunday afternoons by the way he has to beg to get me out of the house or car.

Now that the afternoon drivetime slot is open, I'm deeply, desperately hopeful that Sam will get the full-employment airtime that he deserves. Not only would I get 5 times more Sam a week, but L. would
be thrilled not to have Sammy cutting into his Sunday enthusiasms.

Despite Sam's obvious talent, he's had a hard time at Air America, so my hopes may be pie-in-the-sky. But we had summer weather here in Vancouver over the weekend - 80° for the first time in 6 months - so I'm willing to be a little optimistic.

    Thanks,

I somehow think that their are many people out there, particularly some of the management types (esp. at AAR), who feel threatened by Sam's humility, intellect and humour. He is sharp, funny and very genuine - that is what makes him very compelling. Sam is the only reason I listen to Air America. Give him a good slot 5 days a week!
  • Drew Richman · 1 year ago
I love Sam Seder - I agree that no one is funnier(Sam, I would pronounce that Sayder, but hey it's your name!) - I cried for a week when he and Janeane were removed from daily rotation - You could try and get her back (by begging) too - because they have chemistry together - I am very upset about Randi - Heck I am still pissed about Mike Malloy - you guys are turnig into the FCC right befor emy eyes - I will think twice before sending money ever. I love to listen to Sam Seder's show. I miss him so much. He would be the perfect "new talent" AAR is looking for. His sense of humour, intelligence and compeling way of presenting facts to the audience is very entertaining. So, please, please, pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase put Sam on the 3-6 spot. Lionel, Thom and Sam together - WOW!!! we'll be in heaven.

I love listening to Sam Seder on Sundays. I really used to enjoy him when he did the Majority Report, and I would love to see him on Air America dailly

Air America keeps losing its best talent (Franken, Rhodes, Kent Jones) and retaining mediocre hosts like Lionel. The most talented, well-informed hosts that I am aware of on AAR are Seder, Maddow, and Hartmann. By all means, Sam should have a shot at the afternoon show!
  • Rick Howard · 1 year ago
Seder is the most under-rated talk show host in history. Period. In addition to his having a masterly command of facts in politics, economics, and history he is a comic genius. PLEASE DO AIR AMERICA A FAVOR AND GIVE HIM A DAILY SHOW!!!! I mean really? What more could you ask for??? He's articulate and he's entertaining. I don't know why he doesn't get a TV show, he's always awesome as a guest, what's the deal? Do they think he's too edgy for TV?.. He's much, much more entertaining than Randi Rhodes and he's great with callers. PLEASE GIVE US BACK OUR SAMMY! We love you Sam!!!!
  • Gary Wilson · 1 year ago
In a letter to peter collins of Air America I wrote: Through your Portland, Oregon affiliate KPOJ, I have been an ardent listener/supporter from day one. The Sam Seder Show was a particular favorite in my listening schedule. The man is knowledgeable, insightful to say nothing of humorous. He is everything you would hire a talk show host to be. I never got how that show was dropped and transplanted into a way too small time slot on Sundays only. There is an opportunity with this upcoming schedule shuffle to right an inconceivable wrong. I speak for many friends and other listeners in imploring you to hear us this time and bring Sam back. Its more than right. Its left.

    GIVE SAM A DAMN SHOW!

Sam is brilliant. I miss him and I am bitter about it!!
  • Ellen Ross · 1 year ago
The problem with Air America has never been its personalities, it is with management. Run the business and leave the commentators along. They are the backbone of the network, they are while I have been a loyal listener since day one. I never listen on weekends in NYC, nor do I listen now to the nutrition show from 9-11 a.m. every morning. Put one something progressives want to listen to ALL DAY!
  • Mike Miller · 1 year ago
No AAR host is as fun to listen to as Sam. Hartmann is the professor, but Sam brings the funny. For the last 2 weeks, I feel like my subscription dollars are finally getting me my money's worth. It's time to make up for replacing Sam with Lionel, now's your chance.
  • Bryan Harrison · 1 year ago
We have Randi back in L.A. in the same slot, but I would love to get Sam back too. Maybe we could get a replay of Sam in place of that Phil Hendrid (sp?) show. Wazzup wit dat guy?

Is the only reason why I would tune back into Air America again - He is the best liberal talking head put him back on the air NOW !!

Sam would be the only reason I would join Air America again. All the other great talkers I can hear on Nova M. Please, please put Sam back on every day!

give sam a daily show! he's one of my favorites on air america!
  • Jenn Hogan · 1 year ago
Please bring Sam back 5 days per week! His show was so fantastic. The show was funny but it was also really informative. After listening to Air America all day when it first started, I pretty much don't listen at all now since you took away Marc Maron, Sam, Mike Malloy and moved Rachel to the evenings (put her back on in the mornings in NYC). Sam also skews to a younger demographic. The public radio stations realize this demographic is important (look at "The Bryant Park Project" which took away wonderful Dan Pashman). This is a great opportunity to bring Sam back 5 days per week.
  • Tim From Los Angeles · 1 year ago
Sam is great, and would be an asset to Air America....daily. I listen to AAR because of the current line up and Sam should be a part of the line-up too.
  • Ryan · 1 year ago
The Majority Report should have never ended -- this is an opportunity to correct that mistake. Bring Sam back 5 days a week!
  • Kalena · 1 year ago
Sam Seder is adored by me and several others in my family. We talk about "Sammy" as if he were a part of our group..."Sammy said this", "Sammy did that", "Man, Sammy was on fire today!", "What shirt was he wearing? The blue checkered one?". Get it? We LOVE him! PLEASE! WE NEED MORE SAMMY!!!!
  • Amber Kelley · 1 year ago
I want to hear Sam Seder daily. His radio show is informative and entertaining and it is too important to only be heard on Sundays.
  • Josh Whiteley · 1 year ago
Please bring Sam Seder back to 5 days a week! I used to arrive at work at 8am and immediately log into AAR online and listen to Sam and then Thom Hartmann. Since Sam was replaced with Lionel, I can't stand to listen to Lione's annoying voice, I usually end up skipping Thom too.

Please bring Sam back so I have a reason to listen to AAR again!!
  • LORRIE · 1 year ago
LOVE YOU SAM, PLEASE BRING ON SAM, WE NEED SAM HE'S THE BEST YOU GOT. SAM SAM SAM
  • Tom D'Ambrosio · 1 year ago
    Yes, bring back Sammy!

I've been hoping to hear Sam back on weekdays ever since his show was given away to "Lionel", of whom I am no fan. It is total mystery to me who made that decision to make that substitution. Now is their chance to rectify that idiotic mistake.

Randi was great and I listened to her show from day one (with the Nader interview), but we all saw this recent kerfluffle over Hillary Clinton coming a mile away. In recent weeks, she was getting angrier and angrier. The very subject dominated her entire show for weeks to the point that was all she could talk about. She let the subject get the best of her. It is now time to return her timeslot to someone with a bit more temperament on the subject. Bring back Sam.

I like Sams show it was one of the best on AA. Lionel was shameful with its love of alcohol and drinking.
    Please give him a show.
  • Dave Saldana · 1 year ago
Sam is the right guy for the job. He's good at it. He's earned it. And his fans have supported AAR for too long to be denied. Do the smart thing here, AAR management... it's also the right thing.
  • Annie · 1 year ago
Please, please, please bring Sam back everyday. Maybe you could put him in Phil Hendrie's time slot and let Phil have Sam's slot on Sunday. Sam is smart and funny and informative. A little Hendrie goes a long, long way !!!!
  • Mary Ann · 1 year ago
Sam belongs on a daily show. I know this is the worst thing you can say about a male, but Sam's a nice guy. And totally off the wall and totally appropriate humor, delivered in a deadpan way I've come to appreciate. And while you're at it, hire back Marc Maron and Janeanne.
  • Eric Baldwin · 1 year ago
Sam Seder and Rachel Maddow are the last big guns you have. Whether you personally agree with Mr. Seder's politics, I believe you have to admit he is a serious progressive voice. I tune in for Rachel and I tune in for Sam. Rachel has her show for 10 hr a week. Give Sam his. Then I'll double my listening time and I'll even sign up again for AAPremium.
  • M. Grdinic · 1 year ago
I've been a fan of Sam's various shows over the years, and a move to a 3-6 slot would be no different. He deserves it, his shows are constantly among the most informative and original on any radio station hands down. Give him the slot already!
  • Angela van Patten · 1 year ago
Sam Seder is a rare talent. He's intelligent and informed, is an excellent interviewer, is extremely funny. When he had his daily show, I listened to all three hours every day. He's the only host I make a point to listen to that consistently. It was a shame to reduce his show to once a week when he has so much more to offer.
Please consider him for the show left vacant by Randi Rhodes move to Nova M. While Portland will be running the Randi Rhodes show from 3-6 p.m., I can't help but think KPOJ would try to have him on in a different time slot. Or I would consider signing up so I could podcast. Also, consider bringing back the hilarious Kent Jones to the Rachel Maddow show, and consider having Mark Riley/Mark Maron do their wonderful show again. Thanks.
  • Sheila Samples · 1 year ago
Next to Mike Malloy, there is no better progressive voice on the air today than Sam Seder. If you should screw up and let Sammy get away, you might as well close up shop. You have shown such contempt for what your listeners want, I hope you realize that keeping -- and coddling -- your very best talent (Sam Seder) might very well be your last chance to keep your listeners.

Please listen to the pleadings of the people on this petition.
  • Jill · 1 year ago
My e-mail is in, and I am ready to cancel my Air America premium subscription immediately if Sam Seder doesn't get this 5-day-a-week show. I've been with AAR since the beginning. I put up with the shabby way they treated Marc Maron. I put up with the WWRL disaster here in New York. I put up with Mark Green bumping Sam to Sundays for the unlistenable Lionel show.

Everything that succeeding generations of Air America management has done has eroded the product further. Now I'm giving Air America an ultimatum: Give Sam this timeslot or cancel my subscription. I've been a premium subscriber since they first became available, but this will be the last straw.

    It's now up to you.
  • Venetia · 1 year ago
Please give Sam his show back! We really need him on 5 days a week!
  • Willow · 1 year ago
I adore Sam. I have always thought Sam deserved a full time gig and fought for him to keep his original full time gig after Janeane left the Majority Report. I will fight for Sam to stay on at Air America for as long as wants to stay there. And if the time comes he realizes he wants to move on to where he will be treated as he deserves [i.e., not like the crap but rather like the asset to radio and liberal talk that he is] I will support him then, too.
  • Tim D Robbs · 1 year ago
I like listening to Sam and I make an effort to hear Sam whenever he is on the air. Sam does his homework and knows his stuff. He explores the topic. AirAmerica should not make a mistake and look beyond Sam for the old Randi Rhodes time slot.
  • Laurie Hooper · 1 year ago
I miss Janeane and Sam, but if I can't have that, would love to have Sam daily! By the way, you've got to work with the good and the bad in any healthy relationship and Randi's good far outweighed the questionable. But it's certainly not the first time a radio station (and it's listeners?) has shown it cannot deal with progressive visionaries. Me? I need them to survive. But AA is obviously not too worried about me ;(.
  • Cynthia · 1 year ago
Of course Sam Seder should have a daily show--he's terrific. It was just one more example of AirAmerica's idiocy that they got rid of him in favor of the execrable Lionel. (The first examples being firing Marc Maron and then Mike Malloy.) If Sam doesn't get this slot, I hope he would move to Nova M along with Randi and Mike--and then Marc should join them, too. Stick a fork in AirAmerica--it's done.
  • Alisha Ritt · 1 year ago
Yes, Sam deserves daily airing! I enjoy his incisive talk and
humor and listen to him whenever I can, which I wish were more often!
  • Eurica Rodney · 1 year ago
I use to listen to Sam when he was on 9am to 12pm, it was like slipping into something comfortable and familiar. I really missed him. And even though I don't dislike Lionel, I thought his show was too, inappropriate, at times. So I would turn him off, especially when he talked about sex. I have the internet, I know where to find sex, I tune to air america to listen to political talk. Also Lionel speak down to his audience, using only words only he knew the meaning to. I really would like to get back Sam 5 days a week, in any time slot.
  • Tim · 1 year ago
Moving Sam to Sundays was a mistake. Losing Randi was another mistake...Bringing Sam Seder back on Air America Radio five days a week, would do a great deal toward repairing the damage.
Sam equals honest information and Hope for the kind of Change we all Need!
  • Dean Smith · 1 year ago
I'm beggin' ya folks. I can't lose my daily Sam yet again. When he started out with Janeane, I couldn't stand the ah um st st stuttering fool, but boy oh boy what a change since then. He went from being my least to most favorite host on AAR. When they replaced him with the "L Word", I voiced my opposition vociferously.

All we have left is 2 hours of Rachel during the day (sorry, the 3rd hour with David Bender is a joke.) Hardly with the subscription. I would gladly pay up to $20 a month for my daily Sam alone. I mean it.
  • Tim · 1 year ago
Sam is the reason I started listening to AIR America originally while on the Majority Report and then The Sam Seder Show every morning. I completely stopped listening to the morning slot when Lionel took over and to be quite frank I don't see myself renewing my XM subscription if Sam is only on Sunday afternoons. I really think Sam has a great show and he covers topics that are quite important that in their scope fills a huge void in talk radio much like Rachel Maddow. Air America has made some bad decisions lately - letting The Young Turks go and now Randy, I would like to see you start to turn things around by getting Sam more time.

Please, please, Please! Get Sam back on the air full time.
  • Stephen Ambrosini · 1 year ago

After you've tried the rest, sign the best: Sam Seder for east coast drive time.

Sam Seder's programs have some invectives and venting, but also lots of good interviews, information and satire. A nice blend.

C'mon, give the nice Jewish boy a daily show -- would it kill ya'?

  • Barbara Ann Rice · 1 year ago
    Dear People,

Please give Sam Seder his own show on weekdays. If there's anyone who needs to go, it's that Richard Green, who has psychics and 9/11 truthers on, and drops the names of celebrities with the frequency that Cheney drops expletives. Unlike with Richard Green, Sam always teaches me something new on his shows. He works hard on his background information, plus he has legions of devoted fans, who would follow him everywhere. A lot of us foreswore sporting events and family outings on Sundays so that we could catch Sam's show. Please give Sam the break that he deserves.

    Sincerely, Barbara

I was heartbroken when you took Sam off his daily slot....He was the host I most enjoyed, and, as usual (as with John Edwards), my favorite did not catch on. NOw is your chance to win me back as a regular listener.....

Cynthia mentioned the "example of AirAmerica's idiocy that they got rid of him in favor of the execrable Lionel"

That *can't* be true! Lionel IS the worst. What a sexist jerk. It's bad enough that they replace one of the only women with yet ANOTHER white male...(to quote Jon Stewart, "what will they think of ....ALWAYS?"). But Lionel is SO Geezer-esque and sexist. I turn off the radio when he's on.
  • Chris Osborne · 1 year ago
I used to listen to Air America all day from it's inception, then gradually I began whitling down my listening time as good people were being "replaced". I like information, insight, intelligent analysis, and some humour. Sam is the best! Give Sam a daily show and I will come back!
  • Kim Nelson · 1 year ago
Bring Seder back! If it were a perfect world, you would bring him back during the west coast drive time, currently occupied by Lionel. Then I could start listening to Air America on the way to work again. Replacing Sam with him was a big mistake, but giving him the Rhodes spot would make it all better for me!
  • Jackie · 1 year ago
I think Sam is really great! Please let him have the 3-6 slot for 5 days. I think you would have a better audience, if you just stuck to some of the great people you used to have, such as Mike Malloy, Ed Schultz and Randi. I do enjoy Rachel and Thom, and many others, but I haven't been listening as much. Please keep Sam Seder! You need more continuity.

Sam Seder deserves a daily time slot. No one serves up useful information with a hefty slice of the funny the way Sam does--except for Marc Maron. Heck...give same his show, and bring back Maron, too.
  • Danielle · 1 year ago
I always tune in when Sam Seder is on Air America. He makes sense, and makes me laugh, and thinks like me even though I'm old enough to be his mother. I can't imagine AA letting go of a bright young star like Sam. Please give Sam the Randi slot, and watch your ratings climb with the younger audience.
  • Tina Wilcox · 1 year ago
This is your/our golden opportunity. Please, put Sam Seder back on the air 5 days a week. As an AAR listener from Day One I find I normally don't like right-wing callers. With Sam Seder on the phone though, it's a joy to behold.

    Please, I need more SammyCam!!!
  • PrahaPartizan · 1 year ago
Give Seder the time slot. Mark Green's total incompetence is demonstrated by the chaos he's created at Air America Radio and shows why he had his butt handed to him by Bloomberg when he ran for Mayor. Seder brings an intensity along with insight and humor which is badly needed on talk radio. Just do it and stop debating this move to death.
  • Gordon Peterson · 1 year ago
I can't believe how idiotic it was for AAR to drive Randi Rhodes off... instead of dumping some of their losers like Lionel (who is even a bigger jerk than Ed Schultz was).

Rachel Maddow and Laura Flanders are probably the best that AAR have left, but Sam would be a respectable replacement for Randi's slot (although I won't hear him, since I'll be listening to Randi then).

It's been very discouraging to watch AAR lose their best people one after another. :-((
  • Wayne Pearce · 1 year ago
Give Sam a break, end his Sunday exile and give him the 3 to 6 slot. Sam is the true conscience of the station and he will also make money for you.
After all money not conscience is all the management cares about.
  • Charlie Moylan · 1 year ago
When Air America started out I was an avid listener. Over the years, sadly, as many of their best people went elsewhere, my interest level diminished.

One thing that would bring me back in a New York minute is Sam Seder in a 5-day per week show. I listen to him every Sunday, and I want more.
  • Roger Kaye · 1 year ago
We'd love to have Sam back on KPOJ, Portland, Oregon. We've learned about crucial events that are not covered by the mainstream media.

We love his Sunday show, but it would be great to have him back 5 days/week.

Personally I wish Sam was on from 6-9, like he used to be. I would prefer he did it with Marc Maron and Kent Jones. Somehow, with the bad track record that Air America has displayed over the past few years, I doubt they will listen. But if Air America doesn't do right by Sam soon, every good person that is left on Air America should all go to Nova M.

when they took Sam out of the morning slot, I called management and complained. It did no good then, but hopefully this will get him back on air on a daily basis. Good luck Sam!
  • Bukko in Australia · 1 year ago
My wife and I took back the annual membership fee that AAR had debited against our credit card, because we were so angry about what the management idiots did to Randi, and Sam before her, and Mike Malloy before that. We MIGHT start paying for podcasts (the only way we can listen here in Australia) by the month if Sam gets a daily show. He's gotten MUCH better over the years, and we'll miss him and Thom Hartmann. (Even though we moved out of the country because of Bush's genocide, we still follow American politics.) But I wouldn't pay for a year of AAR because I don't think they'll be around that long.

I HOPE NOVA-M PICKS YOU UP FROM THE RUBBLE OF AAR, SAM!

I have read every comment posted thus far, and I approve the message: Sam Seder is a true talent, and exceptional radio host, a decent human being who respects his listeners, his guests and himself. He deserves all the praise and observations about his continuous professional growth and stature are more than on the mark. (BTW, bring back Mark Maron too).
I grew to love Randi, and will miss her gut and knowledge. I regret that Thom Hartmann is no longer available to me on wwrl, indeed, I am very angry about this.
Dear Air America: Please do not destroy the career of this young man. Dear Sam: Look out, but the best of luck to you!! Look forward to hearing you 3-6 and more whenever....

If you want to maintain your listeners during Randi's old, prime time slot, you'd be wise to bring Sam back on. Surely you can tell how well people are responding to Sam - he has a lot of supporters out there. The Majority Report was the best show you had and if you hadn't given Sam the sunday show, you would've lost me altogether. C'mon - give Sammy a contract - he's intelligent, well-informed, witty and he will guarantee you a high number of listeners in that time slot. P.S. After you bring Sam back, bring Janeane back, too, would you? :) Thanks.

I was amazed when Sam's show was collapsed to one day a week, and my listening to Air America has dropped off because of it. I catch him on podcasts on the weekend, but that's about it nowadays. If he was back on in a full time anchor slot I'd really be back on board with Air America.
  • Helyne May · 1 year ago
I'm frustrated to be having to sign another petition for Sam, just as I feel betrayed by AAR management time and again. They obviously do not know or appreciate their audience, and are willing to throw the loyal listeners of AAR under the bus for some misguided attempt to bring in "new and improved" listeners. How about trying to keep the talkers you have had, AAR, who were/are so beloved to us, and promote them better?! We don't want "celebrity voices"; don't alienate and insult us further.
In spite of Sam's loyalty and loyal following, AAR has been willing to jerk him around. In spite of his ability and willingness to use the newest technologies, AAR has been willing to slap him in the face. In spite of Sam's obvious talent as a talker, and ability to take on the most noxious caller in the spirit of respectful debate, I am having to write another petition asking you to recognize what you have before its gone. It makes it worse for *you*, AAR, to know that you are yanking Sam around because you can, because Sam has a family to feed, and he is passionately committed to the new media, and, more importantly, the message. Please do the right thing, and put Sam back on five days a week. As a listener since AAR's inception, I challenge you to pleasantly surprise me, for a change.
  • Doug Baer · 1 year ago
I have always enjoyed Sam Seder's insight and informative show. The 3-6pm slot would be perfect. Please give him this slot, we need someone like him to keep the progressive momentum on talk radio going.

I really missed Sam when he went to one day a week. We need his insight and candor five days a week.
  • Andrew Riley · 1 year ago
Sam's put a lot of hard work into Air America, and developed quit a bit as a radio personality. If Air America doesn't take him on full time, I don't see him staying and I think other stations would snap him up quickly... Actually the way Air America has repeatedly burned him, maybe that would be a good thing.
  • Gilda Hannah · 1 year ago
Restoring a Sam Seder daily show (available to the NYCity audience) would give me a reason to listen to Air America again. I have stopped listening almost totally since you instituted your "new" and virtually worthless line-up for NYC. Sam would be one person (along with Rachel Maddow) to deliver a substantive and intelligent weekday show, Sam's voice (and of course Rachel's) is sorely needed for your otherwise lame group. Wise up! Give us back the information and insights Sam delivered before you were seduced by celebrity and hype. (They obviously did not work out or they would be still in your line-up.) Oh, and by the way, what ever happened to Thom Hartmann for us New Yorkers? Well, Sam would be the ideal for the 3-6 slot.
  • Cliff Summers · 1 year ago
I miss Sam and Cenk as well. I love Air America, but sometimes feel it is caving to the same corporate interests that progressives fight against. Sam is as enlightening as he is entertaining. WE WANT MORE of SAM!!

The only way I will ever return to streaming Air America, after your lame decisions to put Lionel in place of Sam Seder and after the way to treated Randi Rhodes is if you put Sam in Randi's time slot. Otherwise, there are several other progressive stations from which to choose. Also, you might consider replacing Lionel with Stephanie Miller.
  • Jeff Dorchen · 1 year ago
What? What happened to Cenk? I stopped listening when they took Sam off. But I promise to tune in again if they wise up and use his talent, wit, and insight to anchor their afternoon.

I don't get it? Are they "mental?" Can I cuss on this thing? Because I could describe management in so many cuss words, some of them only exist in a future dialect. Motherklampnok!

Please put Sam Seder in a daily slot. He's funny and insightful and would be a plus for AA listeners if they could hear him on a daily basis. What is it with your NYC lineup? I turned on streaming the other day and it was all about vitamins and diet?
  • Randy Thomae · 1 year ago
I am a little bitter about AA.

I first started listening to AA when Al Franken was on. I listened all the time. It was the best radio show I have ever heard. I was introduced to Sam Seder when Al Fraken had him on and ironically predicted that Sam was the "future of AA". I thought he was right, I added Sam to my daily listening on AA. This was the golden year of AA and my radio listening. I ponied up for a subscription and listened to the podcasts of each show daily. When Al left, I was crushed, but I understood his decision to run for office. When Sam was shockingly dropped from daily, I was flabbergasted and began to have a very bad impression of the new mgmt. I eventually found the young turks and after a big adjustment period I got used to their style and listened daily. When they left AA, I canceled my podcast subscription. I stopped listening to AA altogether. I couldn't stand Rhodes, and I cant stand Schultz. Don't tell the right wing, but there actually are some lefties who are intellectuals, and AA used to be targeted directly at them. Now it seems that they have as much respect for intellectual lefties as the right wing does. I obviously don't understand the plan at AA, but if their goal is to have the most intelligent, funny, biting commentary from the left, there is only one option: Seder.

If they want to continue to make people cancel their podcast subscriptions, I recommend they get a cheap blow hard to finish their downward spiral.

You are fast destroying the station. The only way to start turning things around is to show your listeners that you listen and will change. So, WE WANT SAM SEDER in a daily time slot, preferably Randi's. Otherwise, we move to Randi and Nova M, but we would stay with SAM
  • Pamela King · 1 year ago
I have been pleading with Air America for years to stop firing their best talent. I'll even admit that I cried when Morning Sedition was cancelled. Ah, what the hell, I'll give it one more shot.

Please, I am BEGGING you, keep Sam Seder and give him a daily show.
  • Clea · 1 year ago
PLEASE bring back Sam on a daily show. He's one of the best hosts you've ever had and I really, really miss hearing him every day. I loved Majority Report, I loved his morning show, I love hearing him whenever he fills in on other shows.
  • Madduane · 1 year ago
I love Sam's show! I think it would be awesome to hear him on the radio 5 times a week again. His take on politics is pretty close to mine, and a voice like his out there in the political mix in this country can only help regular folks and give the country in general a better moral compass. I hope, as Air America moves forward with their "new talent", that they'll consider Sam a good, clear voice for America's progressive movement.

I have listened to AAR since its beginning. The Portland Maine station was changed to ESPN after two years and no one at AAR even cared to find any replacement. There was (and may still be) a loyal large group of people who listened daily to AAR. We were left to fend for ourselves. I listen on line now and love Sam Seder and wish he were on the 3-6 slot. Something happened to Randi about 3 months ago and she became self centered, arrogant and downright hostile to anyone who disagreed with her. It is best that she is gone. Thom Hartmann is great and glad he is still on the air. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND SAM FOR THE WEEKLY HOURS OF 3-6PM.
  • jamy madison · 1 year ago
Randi's ego is getting to Rush level. I want the show to be about the material and not about her/him. I will be streaming your show as KPCC 1150 in LA has decided to keep Randi in the afternoon. Thank you for pointing me to Thom Hartman at the end of your old show. Love your work Sam, please keep it up on your own daily show.
  • TC Cragun · 1 year ago
I appreciate Sam's perspective. I would be very happy to see (hear) him daily.
  • Robt. Braam · 1 year ago
Mr. Seder combines three important, perhaps essential, aspects of political discussion.
One is his individual knowledge. He is always prepared, he is always up to date and he always has at the ready the historical context.
The second thing Mr. Seder brings to bear on the issues is relevant guests whose expertise furthers the discussion. Facilitated by Mr. Seder own capability to conduct an intelligent interview.
The third aspect is most important because without it these discussions would be merely academic and our consideration to conclusion by proposing the implementation of solutions. Mr. Seder exposes us to the discourse and then challenges us to act.
The wielding of this trident not only makes for a valuable show, it is a template for the concern citizen.

The only reason I ever listened to Air America was for Sam Seder. I enjoyed his program greatly. I would listen Air America again if you actually brought him back on the air. I found him informative. I know people like the brass in your face hateful hosts. But, I tend to like the informative sarcastic funny hosts and I think Sam is one of those. He wants to give you the truth even though it may not be the liberal way to go. I actually bought the premium subscription so I could listen to him and Ipod him when I could not. Please bring Sam back.
  • Mark PDX · 1 year ago
Please give Sam Seder a regular show. I had always been relieved to hear his voice rather than Randi's when he was filling in. Sam is as sharp and informed as Randi without the abrasiveness. I live in Portland, Oregon. I was actually disappointed to hear Randi on the air here again yesterday, as was my wife. We had been tuning out our local station because of her in the afternoon. Sam, from my perspective, would be a huge improvement. I'm sure I am not alone out here--I see her as left wing political shock jock--not exactly Portland's style. Please get Sam a show.

I stopped listening to AAR in the morning when you replaced Sam with Lionel.I still don't get that decision.I was listening less in the afternoon,Rhandi was becoming a bit too strident and aggressive.I make time to listen to Sam on sundays..he is the perfect choice to replace Rhandi. We need Sam's insight and integrity during the election process. He makes certain we have correct information with which to form opinions without shoving his opinions down our throats.I trust the information given by Sam and Thom
Hartman. It will be a sad,sad day to part with AAR but I see that happening if you put yet another doofus on the air.

    Dear Sirs,

Sam Seder has been the best talk show host I have ever listened to. I would like to listen to him on Air America 5 days a week.
I could never understand why Seder was taken off the air 1 year ago. He was the best amongst them all... Unless Air America has changed its political affiliation, and philosophy, it should allow Sam Seder to talk about the progressive agenda.

    thanks

I never understood what you took Sam off at all. He is by far the most entertaining, well read, intelligent person on your station. We were incredibly disappointed when he was replaced. He has stuck around and helped your station, now give him back a show. He is a perfect host - funny, witty, but also polite to the callers. You will be missing a tremendous opportunity by losing him. We just listen to him whenever he is on and never miss him.
  • Cat Chew · 1 year ago
Sam Seder is consistently entertaining and informative. It's a shame Air America seems to have decided it's good business to kick both their listener base and on-air talent in the teeth again. You can reverse much of that (well deserved) bad will by giving Seder a daily show. I listen to a lot of talk radio, and I don't limit myself to liberal/progressive shows. Seder's Sunday show is lively and fun in spite of the fact that its focus is (ostensibly) TV's talking head shows. Seder makes talking about talking heads interesting! I'd love to be able to listen to him daily again.

The Progressive Radio needs Sam Seder's voice. Whether AAR chooses to do the right thing and give him his own show remains to be seen...

Frankly I think the TRUE Progressives,at NovaM Radio, should seriously consider giving Sam a full time slot; he would bring a good audience $hare to the party and build a great following.
    _How about it, Shelly?

Please give Sam his own show--he's Air America's biggest attraction...for me at least. Although I suspect I'm not alone. Sam is so funny. He's just a genuine pleasure to listen to. I'm beggin' ya--give this guy his own daily time slot!

Sam Seder is a great radio personality. He is smart, quick and is wonderful with callers. I stopped listening to Randi; she was very off-puting-rude to callers who just wanted to chime in. Sam is never like this. He would be an asset to Air America! Give him a 5 day show, and if it isn't played in Denver, I'll become a subscriber again & listed online.

Sam Seder is popular and would make a great fit for the 3-6 pm time slot.
While I like Randy Rhodes, she could get rather strident. I think Sam Seder would be an asset back in a daily show.

Air America is missing a great opportunity if they don't turn their recent error into something positive by having Sam Seder take over the afternoon show. There are only a few people on Air American for whom I make a special effort to "tune in." Sam is one of them (as was Randi). After listening to only a few minutes of this week's guest host, I've changed to a music channel on my XM radio. Sam is an excellent radio personality and I hope Air America will work out a contract with him.
  • truebluefemdem · 1 year ago
Please put Sam back on 5 days/week. I would also love to hear him on Sunday as well! He has a great show and it would be foolish for AA to pass this up. I would prefer Sam over Randi any day regardless! I hope you make the right choice and choose Sam.

I don't know how many time we have to ask that Sam Seder be given a daily show, similar to the successful one that was canceled from 9am to noon, but I'm asking, nicely, can we please have a Sam Seder Show to take the place of Randi Rhodes, who has now left Air America Radio. I am very close to giving up on this station if there is no Sam Seder Show. Thank you, Janice.

I connected an FM modulator to my desktop, then crawled into my attic with RG6 and wired my back patio, garage, kitchen, living room home theater system and master bedroom. Hell, I even got an FM transmitter so I an pipe it into our master bedroom shower's combination radio and shampoo dispenser! We can walk throug hour entire house, garage, and even our back lawn without missing a single syllable, not to mention seeing the SAMMYCAM on three different TV sets. Sam's ability to expose wingnuts as complete idiots beyond anyone I've ever heard, and as you can tell, I've literally heard them all! Bouncing Randi was a mistake. redeem yourself. Put Sam on full time!

I have been a listener and blog poster who has been a Sam fan since the very first days of AAR. I would like to see Sam have a regular show but on Nova. I am now a 1480 KPHX listener having given up on AAR because of too many disappointments. It is time for Sam to make the big move to a network committed to LIberal Radio with a sense of humor.
  • Ottis Foxx · 1 year ago

What the f*** is going on. This is not NPR begging for money.I sent $100.00 to Nova M a profit station. My local wingnut outlet has never ask me for a dime. Sam need Snaple. Maybe Bravenew films could pony up some bucks. I've given you all money too.
I listened to Randi when she was at JNO years before AAR. I cut my streamming teeth on her show. I want us to kick ass every day. Enough all ready, enough. I don't care where Sam ends up just put him on.

I trust AAR or Nova or Jones picks up Sam Seder. This guy mixes humor with “hutspa” . Being a Goy I’m sure I spelled that wrong.
Seriously, Sam is a cool head under pressure and a quick wit putting his intelligence on the side of reason. Much to the chagrin of those who would choose Fascism over Love thy neighbor.

Sam Someone is going to pick you up for selfish reasons, You earn listeners everyday.
The other networks will learn via their diminishing Arbitron ratings during your time slot
  • Le Purplier · 1 year ago
Listener of AAR from Day One.

I like Sam a lot but feel conflicted regarding his future. He reminds me of a battered wife. He deserves better, but after the way AAR has treated him to date, why AAR?

Actually, I'm on the fence here, too. I am as hopping mad @ AAR as any "loyalist." However, I do want, THE CAUSE, that is/was, at least titularly, AAR, to survive.

FWIW: I agree with Malloy, that I would like to hear Sam in better company. However, I do respect and have a romantic/quixotic regard for loyalty, such as Sam's. Should AAR resurect itself in mythic Phoenician form, I would like to know that Sam- and Thom- remain and become triumphant.

Thanks Sam for keeping Maron in the Mix. Truthfully, for my tastes, I preferred Hartmann and Rhodes in leagues of their own, as Malloy, before AAR. Moreover, Marc Maron was to my fancy the most personally enjoyable mix of character, comedy and the political mission. Loosing Maron/Morning Sedition was my first big gripe at AAR and sense of the pending, "here we go again, the liberals are blowing their goddamned foot off again!"

I honestly believe that resergent liberal, loyal opposition media is the only way to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.

I strongly believe that unprecedented corporate openness and form are what is needed. AAR could adopt an open-door, 0pen-book, shared governance model of corporate structure that essentially rips open all the closets of conservatice business as usual, so WE THE PEOPLE can be stake holders, activists, fiduciaries who would like the America Declaration of Independence concluded: "...And to one another we mutually pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor."

I think commercializing the organization by offering to comanies and their brands the Revolutionary American New Democracy in the medium of the new corporate form for new media to get new political results and associating brand loyalty also.

The Medium IS the massage, we know. I think the corporate medium needs the first massage.

Maybe the creative core left, can go on a retreat to work out a corporate form that serves the talent. The talent is the lifestyle and hero (endorser) that the advertisers want associated with their products. Be that corporate success that you be proud to show to your mom, your grandma, your kids. Keep the governance shared. Get us listeners equity options. Mandate 51% of Voting/Controlling stock is not held by mgmt., but by the listeners. Run it like a 21st century home owners association, or coop with fans as financial participants in the quarterly grind for Profits and Losses! C'mon! Revolutionary, ingenious, business art CAN take new form with the remaining talent.

Sorry, sorry..."Outside the box," businessmodels are bebeath cliche, I know. But Goddamn, the creative power of mount Olympus is there. Surely it is short order for a true believer to transform creative power into corporate capital.

I listen to Nova-M most. Next, i am a monthly subscriber to TYT. I still "drive by" AAR on occaision to keep abreast of what's still shaki'.

I'm a truck driver and I listened to the whole line up on my xm. Sam Sedar and Rachel Maddow were by far my fovorites. I let my subscription lapse when you cancelled Sammy. I would consider getting it back if you gave him a daily show. I would literally time my driving to hear his show back when he was on. Had me laughing out loud with uncommonly good RELEVANT interviews. I was dissapointed and wrote in before when he was knocked by the Rush sound alike you had on... That guy from Fargo. I mean i like to hunt and respect the military but that guy is just an ass kisser.

    Hi,
Glad you asked me to sign a petition to put Sam on his own program 5 days a week. While Sam was "substituting" I listened every day for the entire time period he was on. Listening consistently to any of the other hosts is not something I do. For Sam I stopped other activities to make sure I caught his entire show. What is happening to Air America? Who is making nutty decisions to not put Sam on 5 days a week when he obviously is so highly regarded? When he was only on Sundays, I make it a point to listen every week. Again, I did not do this with any other host. My final comment is that when I am asked to click "here" to vote and then can't find "here", I get a little testy. So I assume this little box is where I vote and my vote is to put Sam on 5 days a week and quit irritating your audience. There are 5 other progressive sites that I can stream, but there has only ever been one that I have consistently streamed. If Sam goes, I go. It appears that Air America is being co-opted just before the election. Hmmmmmmmmmm?
  • Cynthia Eggert · 1 year ago
Have to agree with the post about feeling conflicted about this issue. Sam Seder definitely deserves a daily show, but after the way Air America treated my favorite host, Randi Rhodes, I'm not sure staying with them is the way to go. Still, a good host is better than no host. Do something right, AA, and give Sam a chance to fill Randi's rather large shoes.

I was a regular listner when Sam Seder had a 5 day show and I regularly tune into his Sunday program. I appreciate his knowlegdge about the issues and his enthusiasm. On the basis of his past accomplishments on Air America, he deserves to be on 5 days a week!

Sam was one of the few people on the new Air America network when it started three years ago whose work I'd never seen before. He was a new kind of voice--not a radio voice then or now, but something new and ear-catching. I've enjoyed all of the things he's done on the air, even the cringe-inducing prank phone calls, and I've long thought he should have a daily show and he should not be relegated to an hour on the weekends. He's a major talent, well-read, plain spoken, liked by people across the broad spectrum of political beliefs and I hope you will give him a daily show. He is a good person for drive time, either in the morning or the afternoon--he cuts through the clutter with his unmodulated un-FM voice and his razor wit. I wish you hadn't pissed off Randi, but Sam is just as lovable and can be as acerbic. His tits aren't as big, though, and I hope you'll do something about that.
  • Gabby Hayes · 1 year ago
Sam is the best thing going on Air America. He has honed a radio talent that pokes through the armor to the heart. I wish he'd have Janeane on more often. The two of them are unmatched, unparalleled, like two unbalanced tires newly installed on the front of a DeSoto, they shake you up, point you now at this ditch, now at that one, turning a cruise to the corner store into a daredevil death ride. Janeane is one of the busiest talents in Hollywood, so she was gone a lot, and when she was on the air and Sam was gone, it was difficult. She demands so much of an audience. But I remember one time when Janeane was gone and Sam brought in the doorman from his apartment building as a co-host. And it worked. It was an amazing program, in fact. Then I realized that Sam was the true star of the program, directing from the background so that the whole thing came together. Air America has been very profligate with talent over the years, putting Chuck D on at eleven on sunday nights, exiling Flanders to God knows where (is she even on Air America anymore?), pissing off Lizz Winstead to the point where she sued, showing Mark Riley the door, brushing off Marc Moran as if he were nobody when he had one of the yeastiest shows on the entire dial. Throwing Marty Kaplan to the dogs. I could go on and on. Air America could be an incubator for great hosts. Instead, it seems to have no sense of what should be weeded out and what should be allowed to flower. Hint: the people who piss you off and are hardest to live with are the people you want on the air. They are the people listeners will listen to either because they love them or because they hate them, because there is no middle ground. Sam is virtually the last of this amazing talent pool left at Air America and I hope you will nurture him and let him grow into a regular daily, preferrably 3-6 pm, show. He was one of the few people who would fill in for Randi that I would continue to listen to. He is the voice of Air America. He's your soul, man. He's your heart and guts and your soul, too. Pin this guy to the mat. Put a pen in his hand. Force him to sign a contract.

We need more Sam -- the Sunday gig is great but not enough, too much going on and so much to be done. We need Sam's humor, great guests, and insight. Daily would be wonderful -- Sam has the talent and a committed fan base. I am happy to add my signature to this petition and I am an Air American Premium member (3rd year). Thank you.

Give Sam Sedar the show, for the love of God, let the boy be your dog!!! Seriously, Sam is the voice of the new generation of liberals/progressives, lets do this AAR!

Sam would be a credible replacement for Randi Rhodes who, by the way, you should have enticed to stay with Air America. You blew it big time by letting her go. You need to try to salvage the situation by giving Sam his own show.

I've listened to Sam for several years. He's got what it takes to take over the 3-6pm M-F time slot, hands down. First of all, the man is versatile. Hang any hat on him and you can be sure he will fit the bill. Creative, eloquent, witty, smart, civil, informed. Sam has an amazing guest list that continues to expand. I consider myself well informed, in part, due to listening to Sam. AAR should know by now what a treasure he is. Better hold tight! Get him while you can, AAR, before someone else scoops up this great talent! I look forward to the pleasure of witnessing him further evolve over the coming years. Big hug to you Sam!!!!!

Yes...give Sam a chance! He's smart and to-the-point - I like him. And I think he's shown (so far) that he can employ GOOD language and not language of the gutter (as one has) to get his point across. Civility needs a boost and I think Sam can provide it.

Please, please, oh please put Sam Seder on weekdays again!! He and Rachel are the only two AA hosts that put any prep time into their shows, and you can tell.

Hey AAR would you please go ahead and sign off the air and put all of us former listeners out of our misery. You're eventually going to file for bankruptcy like the rest of the owners. Hey Sam, go to NovaM radio they seem to have it all together.

Sam is among the best progressive hosts, in my opinion. Lionel and Randi as well talk TOO much and don't want to let knowledgeable guests or listeners say much. Sam and Rachel have valuable information to pass on to their listeners, but they also listen to the smart people they have on their shows and allow us to hear what they have to say- making for much more informative discourse, not just words. I learn from Sam and Randi (and Thom and Bobby and David), as opposed to having to endure a lot of bombast and verbiage from too many of the others. And that's why I listen to talk radio instead of music stations- because there's a lot going on that we need to be aware of to be informed citizens- I don't want to waste my time listening to egos with big opinions of themselves and little substance. With other hosts I end up waiting a little while for something interesting to be said, and more likely turning the channel in hopes of finding something being said that informs me- sometimes even turning to the inane right talk shows to hear how they're spinning the news (but I can take that only for a few minutes before I vomit a little in my mouth).

I think Sam's Sunday show is a winner. During most of the mid week listening time, I focus on Hartmann and PBCollinswhen they are on. I like all the left partisans, though I feel that Randi doesn't need a megaphone. I abhor the jurisdictional squables. The lother liberal networks should not be drowned out.

I just wrote in a comment in support of Sam, Rachel and Randi. In my comment I said that I would follow Rachel on the radio or the web where ever she ends up. Of course I meant to say that I would follow Randi.

I received a cheery e-mail from AAR telling me they're conducting their own "American Idol" auditions for the time slot, and so far we have had the joy of the following hosts etc etc plus Sam Seder and others are in the running. Worse than insulting to Sam and to ALL of us.

Can we New York listeners get together and Demand that AAR get a new affiliate? I don't appreciate hearing on the internet that Tom Hartmann is broadcasting "Live from the flagship station in NYC" while on the radio I have to listen to Ed Shultz, who is actually 10 times better than the preceeding health talk for 3 hours.
What on earth is AAR thinking by alienating their NY audience?

Sam is really one of the best... he is an amazing talent whom I eagerly seek out and wish he were on a consistant basis... While I would love him on in any slot, he would be a great addition to the afternoon slot. Or, as AAR has already lost most stations in this time slot, what about a late night slot (there's nothing happening at all late night... or an early morning slot to spice things up... Bill Press is very boring and I never listen to him any more. I'd get up early for Sam!!! Someplace.... any place.... soon!!!11

Sam is, and has been, one of the best and most consistent hosts on AAR. Not sure what business model AAR thinks its following, but their current hosts are serious and dull. More of Sam is really, really essential. Can't believe they even elimated the Sunday slot. Not sure I'll be staying with AAR much longer if this keeps up.

Please put Sam on the air daily, he's GREAT! So knowledgeable and funny. He does his homework, which is very important. As a result, he does great interviews w/book authors.

Thank you for considering my request.

SAM SEDER--for the open afternoon OR morning OR BOTH spots!!! Just listen to his programs! Just listen to his book programs! Wow--I learn so much from him! Please--I need to feel loyal to AAR again, before this horrible ugly election season becomes even UGLIER!!!

What have you go to lose? You have everything to gain. Sam is a true professional that knows the facts before he opens his mouth. He is a class act and a "virtual" friend to the fans that are loyal to him and AAR. Do yourself and this country a favor and give Sam the slot.

    Thanks.

Sam Deserves his own show. He represents me and my politics. We need more Sam Seder on the Airwaves.
