What brought me here was something a fox reporter (basically) said... "...energy independence is a hoax and will never happen". Therefore I believe that Fox is infact trying to decieve America!

It is obvious that all nations need to become at least mostly energy independent, otherwise we all will fall back into another dark age. Oil will run out and Fox knows that, but they continue to dismiss that and say "something else better and cheaper will come" but at the same time say "wind is like the ethanol of electricity", another flat out lie! (Ethanol does, however consume almost as much energy as it gives but fox said it consumes more). Fox is feeding on all the conspiracy theorists who believes all scientists are paid by the black helicopters... I believe that it is possible that the 300 CUBIC miles of CO2 humanity has added can indeed have no effect... But I would rather believe Stephen Hawkings (in that global warming is cause for serious concern)...

Tree rings once showed an accurate picture of the years temps but since 1980 for some unknown reasons (some believe global warming/excess co2) the readings DO NOT show true temp readings, hence the "trick" to "hide" the data.

NASA has just released a report that the last decade was exceptionaly WARM.

I used to be a skeptic untill I researched the skeptics accusations and found out they are a bunch of LIARS.
Sea ice as thick as a decade ago.........A total LIE.
We are in a cooling trend....................Read the NASA story.
Sunspot causes warming trends...........If true, we should be in a cooling trend since current sunspot activity should show a cooling trend wich it does NOT!!

hmmm. I wonder what people's thought's are now that the e-mail's have shown a deliberate distortion. And that all the evidence which proves Global warming and cooling has, is and always will be a natural phenomina. Even the IPCC's own graph which includes the last 160 years shows that there were spikes in the temperature in 1860 and again in 1905, both for similar periods and by the same degree. Noone can deny that graph. Quite clearly from a lot of the posts I have read this is more about politic's than real concern about the argument for or against Man-made Global Warming and rather strengthens the views of those who believe the IPCC's claims to be absolute garbage.

Haha i love the way some americans actually agree with what is said by Bill o rielly who is in fact ; NOT AN EXPERT AT ALL . HE IS A REPORTER WHO IS PAID TO SAY THINKS BY RUPERT MURDOCH. Also top MIT , Stanford, Harvard yale , Cambridge and oxford professors and fellows acknowledge that global warming is true. I trust them way more than this news channel. I bet that hydrocarbon companies pay FOX to do all of this fallacy and FAIL. But in a superficial , short term , and extreme capitalist economy like USA , it does occur.
Corporations should not be allowed to distort the truth ever! However they have more power = more influence , so it occurs.

well, I would say that man has affected the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, but certainly not the temperature. And if you do want to say that man is affecting the temperature, then think again. I mean, looking at the charts in the inconvenient truth, you'll notice that the rise in temperature is NATURAL. the temperature goes up, and it goes down again - even like 100 thousands years ago on the chart. and what human owned a factory in that time? nowadays, factories and machines are the cause of rises in carbon dioxide levels, and that, instead of affecting temperature, affects the air we breathe... so dare I say this, FOX is technically correct - global WARMING can technically be proven as natural and not man-made. man-made stuff just affects, like I said before, the air quality in the atmosphere...

@dilbert - do a little research on Fox, who owns it, and how much media they control - not just here but around the world. Its scary to think one man - and he doesnt even live here - controls so much of our media. And yes, he is a naturalized citizen only because he had to become one. Why? Only US citizens can own and control media interests here in the US. Just look up FOX on wikipedia and go from there.

Apparently, hypocrisy has reached pandemic levels in this, the greatest free country in the world. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that humans have an impact on the environment. "Fossil fuel burning has produced about three-quarters of the increase in CO2 from human activity over the past 20 years. Most of the rest is due to land-use change, in particular deforestation" www.grida.no

The debate now is the link between temperature increase and the environmental effects humans have made. The reason we cannot make the link is due to us not having the ability to see if this temperature increase is an historic anomaly, or if patterns show a cause-and-effect with C02 emissions. The information we have now shows that there is a 'high probability of a link'. Regardless if your a cynic or otherwise, the price we could pay for being tentative with this issue is enormous. The best solution is to deal with it immediately. The Stern report suggests it will cost 1% of GDP per year to solve this, and the costs are 3% of GDP each year due to climate change.

With the US being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol from March08, stating 'it will be too harmful to the economy', however the Stern report suggests it is more harmful to do nothing.

Im not sure Americans realise how unfavourably you are viewed around the world as a result of being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol and being the worlds largest C02 emitter. Regardless of the protocol's criticism, the fact that the US is looking for excuses rather than sustainability is showing the world how corporate interests have made the US so backward.

Fox serves as just another organisation designed to create debate and confusion.

ExxonMobil states in their global warming strategy; "Victory will be achieved when Average citizens [and the media] 'understand' (recognize) uncertainties in climate science; recognition of uncertainties becomes part of the 'conventional wisdom'"

Exxonmobil has ties to DCI group, which serves as an adviser to the Bush/Cheney campaign and represents corporate interests. The link between Fox news, News corp and republican support is not difficult to make. Fox's stance on climate change is simply to create confusion thus to satisfy corporate interests.

Dont use this information to attack republicans/democrats here. I have no idea how some of you hold the opinion that climate change doesnt exist due to what you hear of people being divided over it.
I suggest you all read the Stern report, or at least Wiki this topic before deciding what to believe.
