The first step, is to make it illegal to intentionally fabricate news or report unreasonable assumptions. If we could organize a petition for that stopped that, I know of no one who wouldn't sign.

It's a good move that President Obama admonished foxnoise as not being a legitimate news network; however I don't think the administration should actually ban them; it gives foxnoise more power and I doubt the "ben gleck teaparty-promoting" network will clean up its' act since dishing out right-wing propaganda and misinformation has been foxnoise's part and parcel for the last 13 years, and their audience drinks their koolaid like there's no tomorrow; they like what they hear and you can't argue with their ratings.

All one can really do is to call out foxnoise for what it is: propaganda and misinformation,

Really and truthfully... what is the market share for Fox News? Do they get significan audiences? My gut says, "No". The nation appears to have been shocked into action, at least for the time being, and will soon vote out large numbers of phoney right-wing nuts who have proliferated as part of the anti-Clinton propaganda that began soon after his election. We just have to believe that the next Democratic president and Democratically-controlled Congress will take effective actions and not squander the opportunity for political expediency.

I realize that many people have bought into the propaganda that the federal government should be small and that publically funded initiatives are akin to "socialism" but the role of the federal government as what seemed to be invisioned by our country's founders is to provide for the common wellfare. That includes bridges, roads, telecommunications, schools, retirement, and healthcare. What kind of stupid nation are we to neglecting these things? And in the name of "lower taxes"? Let me ask you how much your local taxes have increased to compensate for the decrease in Federal spending? Oh, you don't see it? Try looking at your local roads and bridges. Ever bitch about how crappy your public schools have become? Know anyone who has gone broke paying for a surgery?

I think most people are starting to care about this stuff and thankfully, idiots like those on Fox News clearly do not. Therefore, their wanninginfluence will lead to their removal from our airwaves.

It all boils down to what Reagan did in 1988 bowing to pressure from the right: "Abolishing the Fairness Doctrine" which allowed channels like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to exist. 92% of radio talk show hosts are right wing persuasion. Public airwaves belong to the public and the fairness doctrine must be restored. Insist that the presidential candidates promise to restore the fairness doctrine and bust the 5 media monopolies which control our thought process.

Why doesn't somebody follow the money?
Fox and its owners are getting something out of the propaganda it's spewing. What ever happened to the scandal regarding the paid "news-gandists" about three years or so ago? How much money is the Bush Crime Administration giving out to Fox and other propagandists to this day? Why doesn't some Democrat investigate that?

The one that got me happened just last evening at the Emmys, when Sally Field remarked, "If mothers were running this country we wouldn't have any more wars." Fox, as usual, cut it out of their news hour. Our modern rulers are extrmely leary of disent, and so was Big Brother in George Orwell's powerful novel 1984, written over sixty years ago. It's so disturbing because his novel describing a Police State parallels nearly everything happening in the world and in our country today. Either George Orwell had incredible insight, or Corporate Television has fashioned their own Ministry of Truth right out of the pages of his novel, an all pervasive News Network, whose three slogans were repeated nightly as in a ritual, so that to believe otherwise meant you were a mortal enemy of the State, someone who must be gotten rid of.

YES, YES, YES! Democrats should definitely shut out, ignore, and dismiss Fox as anything but a serious news organization, upholding high journalistic standards. They are beneath contempt and deserve to be openly disdained and boycotted for attempting to hijack and destroy responsible news reporting that Americans expect from the news. I am sick and tired of Fox slandering me as a Democrat and making defamatory statements about me as a liberal. Isn't there a way for private American citizens who are registered Democrats to file a class action law suit against Fox for making defamatory statements about us? --- Can't they be held accountable for creating the partisanship that now infects and divides our country? After all, their defamatory statements have caused me severe emotional pain and blackened my reputation --- that could very possibly endanger my life! I really take their insults personally and I want them to stop. So why can't we sue?

As a veteran against the war, I am insulted by Ann Coulter's remarks. How did she ever get on T.V. to begin with. Her views are very close to the KKK or the Nazi's. If she had her way, we would be living in Communist China. If you ask me, most media is biased to either the Center or Right,not the Left,as many would have you believe. We need to know the sponsors' names, addresses and phone numbers. The sponsors need to know that we will not patronize them if they continue to support such programming. Liberals, dems and progressives that do appear on Fox must use their precious time to relay this message. Their first sentence regardless of the question or topic needs to be "I find it hard to believe that the sponsors of this program, ______, _______, and _____ know how biased this news network is. If they knew I believe they would spend their most powerfull advertizing dollars elsewhere."

Let's remember that Roger Ailes was the media consultant for Reagan and the first Bush. He's continuing to campaign for Republicans, now with his own network at his disposal. That's what the lawsuit is about. Wait and see. If Rather cannot prove it, then the case will be dismissed. (That witness was identified on NBC this morning.) I bet Rather will get a hefty settlement in the end.

And what about all that O'Reilly and his pals fabricate and twist day in and day out? Shouldn't they be ousted as well, you know, following your line of thinking to stick to the truth and nothing but the truth -- thinking for which I agree wholeheartedly?

Fox News will never present balanced views, so anti-war folks are as dumb to go on any of their programs as the Fox "opinionators" (note I don't call them newspeople) who merely use airing opposing views to claim Fox News is balanced. Boycotting any Murdoch media is the answer (television, radio, and newspapers). I've quit watching any Fox affiliated channels except NFL games, and I'm close to boycotting them also.

Is the lawsuit to deprive FOX of their utterly false "Fair and Balanced" slogan still going forward? I think it should be pursued with all possible vigor and might help draw general public attention to the fact that FOX is indeed a propaganda organization, not journalism at all.
