Brave New Films: Exxon Mobil’s Income Falls To $10.26 Billion! Tears Flow At Headquarters

  • Grayson · 2 years ago
    That is so horrible I can't believe it! A company trying to MAKE MONEY! Everyone who works for this company should be tortured and killed on site! I bet they think that America is a capitalist society or something weird like that! We all already know that they are inherently evil, I mean, they make the stuff that fuels our cars! Anyone who has business in oil is automatically worse than Hitler!

    I know! They should give all of their profit to the DNC. I bet their shareholders would like that!

    Why doesn't Exxon pay the $5 Billion it owes the poor fishermen and affected communities in Alaska! For 18 years now, Exxon has been fighting in Federal Court to award paying the class-action award to the 32,000 fishermen, food processors and natives who won and remain plaintiffs in the case.

    Correction: Why doesn't Exxon pay the $5 Billion it owes the poor fishermen and affected communities in Alaska! For 18 years now, Exxon has been fighting in Federal Court to avoid paying the class-action award to the 32,000 fishermen, food processors and natives who won and remain plaintiffs in the Exxon-Valdez case.

    Wow, maybe these people bitching about exxon should risk some of THEIR money and invest in exxon moblie, ya know they are publicly traded. Anyone can get in on the action!! Quit crying.
  • Grayson · 2 years ago
    Rupeies,
    Your missing the point. Any company that sells or does anything with fuel for cars is automatically evil, according to the left. The best reason they can give for the hatred, is that they are TOO GOOD OF A COMPANY AND MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY! Amazing, and I thought I had heard it all.

    Thank Allah there are people like Grayson to defend the glorious oil industry. We need people like you to fight for the Saudi family and the terrorists they support. To pump up the price of Iranian and Venezuelan oil. To coincidentally bring record profits to the industries that have coddled and supported Bush and Cheney.

    Glad to have you looking out for the little guy, Grayson. No one here has spouted hysterical BS but you.

    Hey Greyson, ever heard of price gouging?? Stay with me for a second and reflect on this:

    Hypothetically let's say for instance that a baril of oil cost $40.00 ... which represents for the consumer $2.00 at the gas pump. This would represents a 20% profit for the Big Oil Companies.

    Let's say that the cost of an oil baril goes up by 25% i.e., to $45.00 a baril ... than normally the price at the gas pump should also be increased by the Oil Companies by 25%, i.e. to $2.50 ... but the Big Oil preferred to gouge the public and decided to increase their price at the pump to $2.75, then $2.90 then $3.10

    Why do you think the Big Oil Corporations have steadily shown an all-out "record breaking" profit, year after year?? Because these greedy companies were no longer satisfied to maintain the same margin of profit in direct relation to the price of a baril of oil. They knew that Bush (an oilman himself) would not investigate this price gouging and would not do anything to stop them.

    Have you noticed that the price at the pump went down just before the last November 2006 election, to calm the voters down who were fed up with Bush and the Republican Party. It went right back up after the election.

    If one of your famously evil oil companies was price gouging, what would the other oil companies do? If one company starts selling its gas for a lot more than the other companies, what do you as a consumer do? Most people would buy gas from the stations that were cheaper, and the oil company that raised its price for no reason would not make any money. For your theory to work, ALL of the oil companies in America would have to collude together to raise prices at the same time. I hate to tell you but congress looked into this and did not find ANYTHING to suggest any of the oil companies had.

    If you think about it, oil is one of the cheapest liquids around. You can't buy a gallon of water or milk for that price. Our gasoline here in America is also much cheaper than gasoline in Europe. I guess Europe's oil companies want to make even more than ours right? Lets demonize the European oil companies! Down with them!

    Or we could go the other route, and talk about how half your dollar on each gallon of gasoline goes to the government in taxes. The government has a high profit margin of around 16-20% per gallon of gasoline. Down with the evil government! They are involved in gasoline sales!

    Book-lover, the math is rough up there, but I guess the sentiment is well placed.

    Will we ever get tired of being an aristocracy where corporations hold perverse sway over the system of laws that should protect all citizens? They lobby to write the laws and they fund the executors of those same laws, and if that fails they they hire lawyers to stall any action against them. Sounds like money makes you a premium citizen... we may have been created equal, but...

    Good to know that Congress looked into it and found there was no collusion or price gouging on the part of the oil companies. I feel so much better now.

    It's interesting to note the simplicity of the obvious relative to right-wing positions on issues. It defines things so well.

    Corporate Profits = Good
    Working People's Needs = Bad

    Pollution and Global Warming = Good
    People Who Care For The Environment = Bad

    War = Good
    Peace = Bad

    Rich People = Good
    Poor People = Bad

    White People = Good
    People Of Color = Bad

    Sefishness = Good
    Compassion = Bad

    45 million Uninsured = Good
    Universal Coverage = Bad

    Torture = Good
    Geneva Convention = Bad

    The list is endless . . .

    Well, John, it's good to know everything in America is so black or white. I can't believe I never saw it so clearly before:

    Earning money = Selfishness
    Starting a business = Torturing poor innocents
    Personal responsibility = Killing children
    Government control = good

    It's also good to know that when Obama or Hillary are elected, that they will do something to reign in these evil corporations that make too much money. Because, those companies didn't make that much profit when the last Democratic president was in power, no sir.

    If you really believe that the right-wing is the only group interested in corporate profits, I suggest you do some investigation into the lobbyist contributions to the current Democratic Presidential nominees - tell me they don't have corporate interests at the top of their lists when a 90+% majority of their fundraising comes from corporate lobbies.

    I can hardly wait four years to hear the cries for impeachment for the next president as well. With the country split 50/50, there will always be half the population calling out to remove the opposite party and institute theirs instead.
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
    It's unfortunate that you choose to distort and manipulate to defend the undefensible.

    Earning money is not selfish. What is selfish is reaping windfall profits at the expense of the working class and not caring what happens to those less fortunate who drop through the cracks.

    The reality is that conservatives choose to defend unregulated capitalism by means of legislative, judicial and executive actions that serve to create an environment where HMO CEO's make ten's of millions of dollars and 45 million Americans have no health insurance. Where oil company executives receive hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation as a reward for polluting the earth.

    Corporate profits are not at all bad when generated under a regulated system. Corporate profits are indeed bad when generated under an unregulated one. That is the issue.

    Come out into the sunshine anonymous, it's pretty nice out here.

    I like the post about positions held by conservatives these days. Its pretty much dead-on. We like to keep things simple and clear, unlike our left-wing friends.
  • liberalfarce · 2 years ago
    AND...attn: Left-wingers

    Cars, buses, and any form of transportation that harms, uses, or Mother Earth are forbidden! So start running to work becuase the tire on your bicycle came from a tree. Gasp! (If of course you even have a job and from the looks of the number of posts on this website, you don't and are hoping for more government power so that you can continue to post on this website all day long while still collecting a tax-break income, courtesy of the U.S. government.)
  • Grayson · 2 years ago
    The post above shows the true nature of liberal ideology; it requires an elitist attitude. Notice the constant personal attacks, this person has nothing of substance to say and truly believes he is above others. So the government doesn't regulate companies? Is that so? I could have sworn there was something called the FDA, EPA, OSHA, ADA, FAA, FHA ... just to name a few. I guess us "poor ass hicks" happen to know a little more about the government than you think, eh?

    Many government agencies exist to provide regulations for safety of workers at companies as noted above, workers are also given money if they are injured on the job. The EPA is responsible for regulating companies that "dump poison into the environment".

    Really though, just continue to walk around with your elitist attitude and leave the real thinking and other hard stuff to the good old "poor ass hicks".

    This is what the GOP is made up of. Oil revenue. This money finds its way into the GOP and help run their campaigns. This is Karl Roves secret.

    I think its certain the GOP will not win in 08. I will vote Democrat no matter who wins the primary.

    This is in comment to Rupeies, If we could afford money to invest in exxon we probably wopuld but as a fisherman's wife i think you should mind your own business because we are rightfully owed this money for exxon's hire of a drunk captain
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
    Randa are you in Alaska?
  • John Ehrenfeld · 2 years ago
    Thanks Randa. That's what America has become, a playground for the corporate elite to accumulate excessive wealth at the expense of the working men and women of this country.
  • Floyd · 1 year ago
    We should all boycott Exxon-Moblie, find somewhere else to buy your gas. If we as consumers stick it to the biggest, they will get the message.
