Brave New Films: Bill O’Reilly attacks Obama staffer

  • JC Dufresne · 1 year ago
I don't want to see any democrat give credence to Bozo O'Reilly by appearing on his show. The person I'd really like to see on his show is Robin Williams doing a version of his "Man of the Year" character.
  • Gary Pruitt · 1 year ago
Why shouldn't Obama go on The Factor w/ O'Reilly? One word: FALAFAL!
  • William Scherr · 1 year ago
FOX is only an idiotic Bush propaganda machine. They regularly put forth lies as fact. They have the right to put forward the crap that they spew; however, they do not have the right to create their own facts! They call anyone who does not believe their fascist ideology as not American. They are the haters of the U.S. Constitution!!!
  • Margo Aleksich · 1 year ago
I would LOVE a face off with Robin Williams and Jerk off O'Reilly!!!!! I do believe that Williams can speak faster than anyone on the planet, and make sense whilst doing so! As to Obama appearing on Fox, why bother?
  • rob · 1 year ago
No serious politician should appear on sly noise because they are a tabloid opinion "outlet", that has nothing to do with actual news. That's because they don't tell the truth, they compose intentional questions that have intended results. Everyone at the company should be tried for liable, sedation against the American public, and crimes against humanity for their part in taking the country to war. Billy the boar should be water-boarded on a special war-funds-channel to help pay for this blasted fiasco! I'm sure their loyal viewers will be riveted to see their favorite opinion personality tortured without too much of a dust up. Sly feeds em violence and hate that eventually turned on em... like Robes Pierre!

Why Sen. Obama should not go on the Factor...
There is not one FACT on the show!
It's not a real news show it's a spin fest!!
Why should the Senator waist his time? They would probably shut off the Senators mike when he tries to voice his opinion!

I've never watched O'Reilly's show, and I've never missed Obama when I had a chance to see or hear him. I'd like to maintain that division.

In the spirit of David Letterman...Top Ten Reasons Why Obama Should Not Go on O'Lielly's show.
    10. That stuff in the beverage cup they offer doesn't look like KoolAde.
    9. Not sure he can skip Madrassa that day.
    8. Not sure if he's black enough.
    7. Can't find "that pin" for the occasion.
    6. Afraid of making Bill look even less Sexy.
    5. Doesn't know if it's appropriate to ask for more tea, Mother F***er.
    4. Might get shoved aside if he blocks Bill's camera shot.
    3. Not sure he can withstand Bill's overpowering machismo.
    2. Doesn't want to inside or outside or really anywhere near Bill's "box".
And the number 1 reason why Obama should not appear on O'Lielly's show...
    1. Obama is too hot for FOX!!

I agree with everyone here. There is no person who seriously watches Fox that would even vote for a Democrat. So, ignore them. It should not even be an issue. We, as a country, are more intellegent than the crap that poses as news on Fox. Trust me, I grew up in Australia. I know what Murdoch stands for - he is a ruthless, cunning, formiddable foe. But, he will fail this time. The right wing lunatics are frothing at the mouth because they know that America will not vote another Republican in for, at the very least, 4 more years.
  • Betty Ann Manock · 1 year ago
Why would anyone want to be on any show on Fox "News" and especialy with Bill O'Reilly. This man doesn't have a clue on how to report the news and stick to facts instead of fiction. It takes a good reporter to take a news story, make it interesting and not add in inuendoes or, in some cases, pure lies. Twisting the truth is what Bill O'Reilly does best and people with any intelligence is not interested in listening to him --- so why would Obama want to subject himself? Stand tall and stay firm, Obama.

Fox news...it's a total joke. I watch Colbert, John Stewart and Fox to get my laughs. I'm being totally serious. I've never seen anyone with the ability to warp reality as the comics...I mean reporters on Fox. I don't know why people get so upset over their monologues, because everyone who is educated and has any sense, knows that it's all just a joke!

Mr. Nicholson should get tested for a sexually transmitted disease after physical contact with the known sexual harrasser, O'Reilly. And O'Reilly, for the first time in his life, should read the U.S. Constitution. I can't find anything that limits the powers of candidate staffers from standing in front of a camera.
  • Johan Skepticus · 1 year ago
O'Reilly needs Obama and Edwards; they don't need him. After the way they've been smeared by Fox, they should merely say "No, thank you" to any invitation by Fox to appear. And they should merely say "No" to O'Reilly. They shouldn't discuss the rejection, shouldn't complain about past treatment; they should simply ignore Fox altogether. Fox is trivial and irrelevant to most of America. It should be treated as though it doesn't exist.
  • Joseph Soler · 1 year ago
I think it would simply be great for Obama to have a show or anyone else with a brain for that matter and have Bill O'Reilly come on it and then subject him to the post-taping editing to which he subjects his "clever" guests so that he comes out on top, because on the "O'Reilly Factor" "Portions of the Show directly related to the intellectual outcome maybe be edited to salve O'Reilly's Ego."
  • Patt T · 1 year ago
Obama should not appear on the factor because he will be upstaged by the nightly WOMEN IN NAUGHTY NIGHTIES segment.
  • Patti Guthrie · 1 year ago
Saying that Fox News presents "NEWS" is like saying Bush is a law-abiding, honest person, true to our Constitution (which he probably never has read since he can't read ANYTHING aimed higher than second grade) - for Obama, or ANY Democrat, to stoop so low to appear on Fox would be ludicrous - it would be far too difficult for even the BEST contortionish to fold his body THAT low... Totally ignoring FOX minimalizes them and surely is the best way to go.
  • Feebs · 1 year ago
O'Reilly is a putz. Why does anyone even listen to him? Leave him alone and let him bury himself in his own dirt. Obama should flick O'Reilly off like a piece of lint on his lapel. Faux News goes WAY to far in their bias, is the biggest joke on network TV, and will only survive if people keep watching. And THAT is the scariest part of all! People keep watching! (sigh)

Out of respect for REAL journalism that's why you don't go on O'Reilly's faux noise! It is like going on a comedy show. BILLO comes across as a screaming sex offender and should be avoided. The less attention he is given the more tantrum we will see, unfortunately. But out of respect for "real" news (what little of that we get these days) avoid BILLO! I agree with Pruitt, just keep saying FALAFALA or Loofa over and over and nothing else! Or ask him how's the Loofa business?

FOX news is only the worst of the Corporate media. Until we have a truly free & open press combined with a multi-party political system, it ain't gonna make much difference, folks.

As good a man as Obama may be personally, the Democratic Party hierarchy is just as controlled by the Corporate ruling class as the Republicans.

*Hopefully by 2012 I will be proven wrong but I doubt it.

The FAUX noise channel always mixes their Reich Wingist spin, with the facts. Then they try to pass this dribble off as "The Opinion Of Mainstream America" to their loyal FAUX viewers.( mostly in the 60-90 yr. old age group) Thank God, Real Main Street America has begun to see through this partisan Bullshit. Bill O'Really and Shawn Insanity have no real Soul. They will do whatever necessary to continue collecting their own personal paychecks.(Including continuing to defend the worst, most criminal, corrupt, Presidential Administration in U.S. History.) Both Murdoch owned and operated, The FAUX Fake CABLE T.V.NEWS(NOISE) Channel, is the Cable News equivalent, to Murdoch's printed version of the truth "The National Enquirer!"

    O'Reilly's fantasies:
    1. He is a journalist.
    2. Women want him.
    3. Men fear him.
    4. People care about his opinions.
    5. Olbermann is just jealous.
    6. Fox News is news.
    7. George Bush is smart.
    8. Obama will come on his show to be publicly shamed and exposed as an Islamo-fascist latent terrorist.

Why should Obama continue to boycott Fox? Because, when you're Bill O'Reilly, fantasy is pretty much all you've got left. Dream on, O'Reilly.
  • Chuck Lasker · 1 year ago
If only the Republican candidates who participated in Fox's debate last night would have had the integrity that Obama has, they would have walked away when they learned Fox was excluding Ron Paul. The fact that they participated shows they have no honor, no pride, and will gladly participate in injustice if they can personally gain from it. Bravo Senator Obama for sticking to your principals - something no other candidate but Ron Paul is doing.
  • Margo Aleksich · 1 year ago
I think that we are all preaching to the choir here. I agree with RM that until the media starts behaving like an independent body, then nothing is going to change. Unfortunately, that will not happen because there has been a system created which does not allow open, rational discussion to take place. Even Olbermann, Stewart, Maher etc. are shut down to some extent. That is why a lot of people tune out and watch football.

Post a comment on the blog with all the reasons you can think of why Obama should not go on Billy's show.
"All the reasons? This will be a long comment. I wrote an extensive article on this subject called Starve The Beast. Here are just a few of the reasons:
    <ul>
<li>Your appearance on Fox will be rewarded more with ridicule than respect.</li>
<li>The ratings story they use like a sledgehammer is a fraud.</li>
<li>Your appearance on Fox will mark you as a masochist.</li>
<li>By denying Fox the presence of Democrats and progressives, their ratings will suffer.</li>
<li>Don't affirm Fox as a credible News outlet.</li>
<li>Encourage more responsible journalism from other networks.</li>
    </ul>
I could go on, but I won't. Please read Starve The Beast. There's some pretty artwork to go along with the story.

Reasons Obama should avoid Bill O'Reilly's show like a drug resistant staph infection:

    1. Not enough of us read semaphore that we'd be able to understand what Barack is saying once Bill inevitably cuts his mic.

    2. We may all never recover from the excruciating embarrassment of watching Bill try to talk "jive" to Obama, "Uh...chill, my blood. It's, uh, all to the good, right? We've, ah, got nothin' but love for you...up...here...in the...hizzie?"

    3. We probably won't be able to hear a word Obama says over the buzzing of Bill-O's vibrator.

Barack, the only time you should show up on Bill O'Reilly's show is when you are the President and you uphold your pledge that you will meet one on one with the leaders of evil, anti-American nations (though I think Rupert Murdoch is actually the evil leader of the Faux News Nations....hmmm...O'Reilly is just a little incubus compared to Lucifer Murdoch himself, heh heh.)

Mr. Obama should not appear on Fox News (O'Reilly or any other part of that whole sewer)... There is nothing to be gained. Anyone who actually watches Fox News has drunk the Kool-Aid and nothing Mr. Obama might be allowed to say is likely to raise their consciousness so much as a millimeter.

The down sides on the other hand are numerous. Fox would not hesitate for an instant to twist his message and use it against him. Perhaps even worse, just appearing would miss-lead Fox to believe it is relevant going forward. It's time we all start treating Fox as the totally irrelevant joke that it is and stop even talking about it. We should be focused on things that actually matter, like what the candidates actually think and stand for, not these faux-controversies created by Fox and other infotainment producers that ultimately distract and dilute the process of political dialog in this country....

Did anyone else notice that O'Reilly doesn't let go of Obama's hand when he goes to pull it away. You can see it in Barack's reaction -- 1:02 on the video above. I am not a fan of foxnews but I have researched a lot of information about Obama and what I found scares the h*!! out of me. I am not ready for a President with an upbringing fo radical Islamic teaching. Nor will I support a racially biased candidate, check out the Trinity Church. I will admit he has the gift of gab and his hypnotic smile has bought him many supporters but is any one looking beyond his smile and words. If this man gets elected as the democratic choice I will vote republican for the first time in my life.

"...continuous growth in the "leading role" of the Party; improvement of Party education and of mass political action; youth participation on large construction projects as part of their "patriotic work"; an intensification of political-ideological education in schools and universities, as well as in children's, youth and student organizations; and an expansion of political propaganda, orienting radio and television shows to this end, as well as publishing houses, theaters and cinemas, opera, ballet, artists' unions"

This may sound like the Christian Republican Right Wing! Unfortunately, it is known as the "July Thesis" of dictator Nicolae Ceauçescu of Romania in 1971.

FOX is nothing but an official dictatorial TV network serving the every word of our own dictator. It is also a white supremacist group with a Bill O'Reilly leading the movement. This man should be ban from public appearances because of his civil right abuses and open discrimination. If I was a profiler, I would describe him as fitting the profile of a pedophile.

I can't tell you how amusing I find it that O'Reilly had to stand up for the Constitution by assaulting a fellow American. Quite the patriot. And he needs to attend a Constitution 101 class if he thinks that freedom of the press means being guaranteed a camera shot at a crowded campaign event.

And Nancy G - if you are frightened by what you've read about Barack Obama's upbringing, I'd strongly urge you to reconsider your sources. You may have read it on your own, but there's a lot of B.S. out there. Obama is a Christian, he belongs to the Church of Christ, and he is NOT an Islamic extremist. Sure I think you'd see O'Reilly pulling a few low key baits out, but it will be mostly soft tosses at this stage. Right now Fox seems more focused on trashing Hilary Clinton than Obama.

Barack ought to acquit himself well, and I think actually win a few of the dumbed down votes out there in America by doing so. There are lots of those types out there too, they watch Fox, and should not just be ignored by any campaign. Even dumb people will appreciate the courage necessary to walk ino lion's dens. Just take a sharp sword along.

  • Mark @ News Corpse · 1 year ago
More goodies from Starve The Beast:

Let’s take a look at the make-up of Fox’s audience. One of the more foreboding characteristics of this group is that they appear to be more loyal to Fox than to Republicans or conservatism. This is a malady that I previously described in The Cult Of Foxonality.

The Mellman Group’s research revealed that Fox viewers supported George Bush over John Kerry by 88% to 7%. Only Republicans were more united in supporting Bush. Conservatives, white evangelical Christians, gun owners, and supporters of the Iraq war all gave Bush fewer votes than did regular Fox News viewers.

What is there in that assembly that holds value for politicians or pundits of the progressive stripe, save for disdain and abuse? The potential for comrades or converts is so small as to be virtually nonexistent. It is long past time for Democrats to recognize this simple fact and resolve to stop allowing themselves to be used for target practice by disingenuous pseudo-journalists whose purpose is to defame and defeat them in politics and public opinion.

And Barak will be walking into a trap; that big mouth ego-maniac will not give the candidate any time to express his views. Besides what person in their right mind would believe that the thirty percent of Bush dead enders--the nut jobs who still believe there were weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam and al-Queda were linked--are capable of reasoned thought?

I didn't hear the whole coveersation but I did hear Obama purchased a vary expensive home and purchased 20 or so feet of his neighbors property at a low price. The neighbor holding was Public Office. He was convicted of fraud, corruption and other felony's. They said Obama would win the nimination with a little help from Republicans. They were laughing about how they would blow him out of the water in the General Election and there would be another Republican in the White House.

Please assure us, Mr Obama, that you will NEVER dignify the Fox News spin machine with an appearance on their network. You will serve only their agenda, and will gain nothing in return.

Stand firm. Your resolve will send a clear message to the media that they have a responsibility to the American people and to Democracy to uphold fact and reason over propaganda and partisanship.

This is the beginning of "change".

O'Reilly is the alpha lapdog of Murdoch; the fox that claims to be guarding the henhouse. It's a desperate attempt by a wannabe has-been who is trying to validate himself as a legitimate journalist. He suffers from oneirataxia and is dellusional in his self-aggrandizement of being intelligent. They should send all of them at Fox to Iraq and do their show there for the Iraqis; Now that is torture!

Bill O'Reilly showed his true colors by shoving an Obama staffer (otherwise known as assault) and then trying to justify it by invoking the Constitution. This shows that he’s nothing more than a bully and a moron.

He has never been fair and equal like a journalist is supposed to be. So why would anyone go on the Bill O'Reilly show unless they agreed with his lies? He just uses the show as an instrument to spout forth his far right Republican agenda, poisoning the minds of his audience.

I congratulate Senator Obama for standing up to O’Reilly and taking the high road. Obama was even bold enough to shake his hand, although why anyone would want to grab onto a poisonous viper is beyond me.

FOX does not deserve legitimate consideration as a news outlet. Obama definitely should not even consider going on one of their dog and pony shows.

The aide has in fact showed considerable restraint in not pressing assault charges against O'Reilly. But then again, we have become so litigious that in itself would have been a classless act for such a wussy-boy shove.

O'Reilly got more courtesy than he deserved when Obama shook his hand...Obama definitely came out the better man.

Bill O'Reilly has done for the news what Morton Downey Jr. did for the talk show. It is difficult
to present an opposing view when your opponent controls the cameras and your microphone. It is a

Anytime someone of Obama's stature appears on Fox News, it gives them credibility as a bonafide news and journalism outlet. When in actual fact, they are much more like a highly over-produced "The View". Does anyone tune into The View to get serious news reporting and/or analysis?

People who've uttered the words "fair and balanced" relative to Fox News has never watched PBS "News Hour with Jim Lehrer". Even News Hour has a way to go to present enough commentators and reporters from the Left, but compared to Fox News they are light years ahead in comprehensive journalism.

It is beyond question that Obama should abstain from noticing Fox News. He can smile and nod from afar, as one would humor an eccentric, goofy neighbor with a few loose screws.

"Not-Watching" the show does not matter one little bit to the producers and all involved in placing it in public.

    IN FACT..
Everyone who purchases cable/sattelite is paying money TO the "FOX" people to do what they do.

....For those who may not already know..

When you pay cable or sattelite bills, your money goes to purchase that show even if you don't watch it.

Television isnt a basic nescesity like electric and phone. There may be some low pressure to suscribe to the people responsible, but Nothing and Nobody is FORCING you to purchase that product.

stop suscribing to cable /sattelite, because there ARE alternatives which do NOT feed the war criminals.

Ok, watched the video. I think FOX, like all the TV network "news", is a joke. The lot of them are no more concerned with telling the truth than an episode of X-files, but I also I think the people behind the video are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

O'Reilly, who's a professional a-hole, shoved one of the phalanx of staff around Obama. So what? Given O'Reilly's complete lack of basic human interaction skills it wasn't much of a shove. I had to watch the clip twice to see what they were talking about. Camera crews shove bystanders out of the way all the time, anyone in the public eye should be aware of that. It's the sort of thing you let roll off your back like water, not make the center of a internet "drama" like this.

Focus and attention to this sort of non-issues is why the country is going down the drain.

The Top 10 Reasons Barack Obama Should Boycott Faux News

    10. It would be bad to cross the picket lines since Credibility is on strike against Faux News
    9. There might only serve MFing tea
    8. Might have to share a studio with Ann Coulter and who knows where she's been.
    7. They might require Mr. Obama to get a lobotomy so he would fit in
    6. It might distract Murdoch from growing his Fox Business Channel to 7,000 daily viewers and does Mr. Obama really want that on his conscience?
    5. Mr. Obama would probably need to burn his suit after being in the Faux News studios and those look like decent suits
    4. Do we really want to hear how O'Reilly was surprised that Mr. Obama was just like a white candidate?
    3. If he speaks with O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmes will just pout
    2. Do we really need another story about flag pins?
    1. The boycott may just make Bill O'Reilly's head explode on live TV!

    1. ANYONE, not just Obama, who wants to maintain the appearance of integrity and truth should avoid the FAUX News Channel. Just being associated with ANYONE on FNC is enough to get you bounced from the pearly gates by St. Peter, the original bouncer. He would've come in handy at Obama's rally when O'Lie-ley barged in waving the flag.

    2. O'Reilly was on The Daily Show last summer (I think) and Bill openly admitted that even HE doesn't believe anything he says. It's not news, it's 'pro wrestling.'

I saw a youtube clip of him on O'Rielly and Ron never even got a chance to speak. Did anyone notice that CNN is being bias as well? Wolf Blitzer's comment of Clinton's third place "win" in Iowa and last nights AC360's replay of their live show had a filter in the background to lessen the visual of all the Ron Paul signs. I couldn't believe they would stoop to that. Maybe CNN should be boycotted next. James Hazelbower, Jr. Lanark, Il.

Fox News is the National Enquirer of TV news....they shouldn't even be allowed to have "news" as part of their network name. They spend more time trying to create news rather than report it. They are the very definition of a propaganda machine..."No Spin Zone" on a show that specializes in spinning stories; "Fair & Balanced" when they've been proven time & time again to be anything but. I haven't turned on Faux News for so long, I don't even know what channel it is anymore but their reputation and misdeeds still make it to me via other sites and people who revile them as much as I do for many of the same reasons.
  • Joe Green · 1 year ago
The FOX "network" is not a legitimate press organization. Its a propaganda machine owned by an individual with more money than brains.

Bill O'Reilly was challenged on his lies about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and like all bullies, when it came time to put up or shut up, he shut up.

All democracies around the world, including the American Democracy requires proper information about candidates so that electors can make informed choices.

The right wing corporate facists that own and operate media like FOX news, are NOT CONSERVATIVES, they are CORPORATE FACISTS of precisely the same kind that made the trains run on time in Italy under Mussolini.

What I would like to see, is the candidates say that they would prosecute all war crimes committed in recent years by American political leaders that ran unconstitutional programs of torture and rendition, breaking not only US laws, but international law as well.

And lest we forget, Herr Goebels, the Nazi Propaganda Chief, operated on the same principles are Bill O'Reilly with the Big Lie.

I hope that all people come to see these fascist creeps and bums for what they really are.

Of all the good reasons not to go on the O'Lielly Cracker, these are my favorite:
    1) O'Lielly is a windbag & Obama, in his thinness, might get blown off set
    2) O'Leilly can't help but lie. It's his duty as an officer of the Faux News army, bent on destroying freedom & thinking for oneself.
    3) During the course of debate, which mainly consists of O'Lielly yelling &gesturing; wildly, Obama might get crushed under the weight of O'Leilly's enormous, flapping wattle that he calls a neck.
    4) Obama's appearing on O'Lielly would legitimize that propaganda machine & stain Obama's record of standing up against fascism.
Everyone should boycott O'Leilly & Faux News.

The main problem with Obama going on the O'Reilly show is that Senator Obama is so intelligent, articulate, and clear in his speech, that he would make Bill look like an impotent steaming pile of bovine fecal coliform culture media. Inasmuch as we all hope that Obama will be the next president, and will serve for 8 years, it would be very nice if he never agreed once to a single interview with Fox and O'Reilly. They will demonstrate that they (Fox) are nothing more than a tabloid network and deserving of no credible attention from the public.

What point is Fox Attacks, and everyone else for that matter, trying to make? Have you ever seen any successful journalist, no matter their political leaning, ask permission to get a story? Have any of you people seen a press conference? If you want to get anywhere in journalism, you have to do exactly what O'Reilly did! Big journalists make the big bucks because of their aggressive, type A approach to their profession. And a public figure's handlers (unless they're Secret Service) have no right to bar the press per the 1st Amendment.

O'Reilly did what any aggressive journalist would do to get the story, and it's totally juvenile of Fox Attacks to think that this has some sort of meaning, and that the same standard doesn't apply to liberal journalists.

BTW - O'Reilly ran this same clip on his own show, and commented on how Obama, unlike his staff, was a perfect gentleman.

#5 Fox news crawl bar will identify Obama as

#4 Fox news will report that Obama spit on
    o'reilly. This will be the
    first true fact Fox ever
    reports on Obama.
#3 O'reilly will try to get
    Obamas' moms' phone #.

Fox News appears to be for people who want to propagate fear, scream invectives, and cruelly criticize anyone who dares to disagree. That's an outdated and ineffective twentieth century media and political strategy: we're right, you're wrong, and therefore, we will destroy you. That tactic, clearly in evidence in contemporary world politics, is not effective for twenty-first century citizens. My hunch is that Senator Osama believes that modern politicians need to be peace-makers, not war-mongers, and that first and foremost, to be an effective leader, one must exhibit reason, intelligence, and kindness. It's easy to check that edict, Bill O'Reilly; it's a fundamental Christian tenet, first introduced by Jesus. Oh, yeah, that, and "love thine enemy."

Obama "should" avoid the ambush because of Fox's incapability to guarantee "fair" fight. That said, our nation could use a bellylaugh and I can envision such loud laughter we'd miss half the punchlines. [The mere concept deserves a chuckle: an "intellectual" debate between the eloquent, elegant president-elect and Whatshisface.] I reluctantly signed the Open Letter for Obama to remain unsullied. I wanna say "Go for it" if certain conditions were met (e.g., decontamination facility, a no-editing policy), because a dialogue holds potential for extreme importance above and beyond its comic potential. Join me in fantasies of fantasize the myriad possibilities, both high-brow and Fox-brow: the pair engages in an apolitical TV chat on intellectual topics the channel's viewers couldn't begin to even define OR they compete quiz-show style on any topics of Oreilly's choice ... and somewhere along the way, the broadcaster who's able to pronounce con-sti-tu-tion discovers there's some candidate who's taught constitutional law in a famous law school -- guess which Bill?
Fox imagineers are no doubt busy trying to concoct "dirt" on Obama, but if he had any baggage, Oreilly'd be unfit to carry it.
Seriously, supporters are pretty consistently weighing in on Open Letter with "Don't do it," yet Obama's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't -- if they've not already, taunts of "chicken" will fly...
Here's Pure Patriotism: IF dishonesty could be precluded, I can think of little that'd be more glorious than exposing Fox's audience to intelligence, etiquette, patriotism, morality, honesty, sense, etc.? No joke: Imagine the uplift! The boost in national IQ, the state of shock as millions of eyes are opened, minds opened, SAT scores raised. Such an educational endeavor would serve as a collective antidote to years of "dumbing down" from propaganda and simply simplistic lies -- in the spirit of neocon-privatization, F---- News can label the nationally transformative hours "private" service message.
P.S...I hate sniping at fellow posts, but must join chorus below on the one post that Crossed The Line. While I can honestly boast I've never seen F--- News (via transcripts & radio clips, I'm not ill-informed), and despite being Old Enough To Be ... (against type, I'm a middle-aged mom, "even" this female sez the trancendental Simpsons is off limits! Fox's lone raison d'etre.)

Of course, Obama should not entertain Shill O'Crybaby by going on his show, as a direct protest to all the Fox propaganda. However, he should say ok, but send his 6'8" staff memeber as a joke. Then at his next appearance, before he starts speaking, he should ask all the reporters in the crowd openly to come and see him or one of his staff afterwards if they want to set up a date and time for an interview on their respective network.

Then before he starts speaking he should ask the audience in attendance if they can see well enough, as he would "rather not have any pushing and shoving.

Finally, Barack can point out jokingly, of course that F-O-X is 666 in basic 1-9 digit Numerology.

Up until now I had a limited respect for O'Reilly, since sometimes he even condescends to criticize his own side as it were. However, It's been obvious for a long time that he often uses a bullying tone and talks over or walks over guests who dare to stand up to him. This is unworthy of anyone purporting to be an serious investigative journalist.

It would be interesting for O'Bama to appear on O'Reilly because he would more than hold his own; however such a gross lapse in professionalism by Bill should not be rewarded with an interview. After all, O'Reilly daily accuses everyone else of much lesser offenses. The Spin Stops Here.

I believe in a free press and one that has access to leaders at all levels to ensure they report to us the goings on in government, as without them, we would be in the dark. However, FOX has proven not to be “the press” as they harbor an agenda to which end they have consistently displayed a willingness to go as far as fabricate “news.” This new "yellow journalism" is not worthy of Mr. Obama’s attention and we too must do what he appears to be doing: IGNORE THEM! They rely on ratings to sell commercial time and the more of us who turn them off, the less exposure our little brains get to their crap as well as the products being peddled every 15 minutes while they try to scare the hell out of viewers. Obama should not appear on O'Reilly's show for one simple reason. The Republicans - and their media mouthpieces like O'Reilly - are quickly losing in the polls, are losing their influence, and are becoming irrelevant. For eight years, Republicans and their media mouthpieces have had the upper hand because they were able to manipulate Americans by scaring us into listening and voting in their favor.
In the short term (historically speaking), that meant that politicians like George W Bush could win - and maintain - power, and spokespeople like Bill O'Reilly could boast of impressive viewership and, therefore, impressive influence over Americans' thoughts and opinions. Progressives like Obama used to HAVE to appear on Fox news in an attempt to reach the public and build name recognition.
Not so today. Americans realize that George W Bush and the Republicans have failed us profoundly. Americans realize that "fair and balanced" Fox journalists like O'Reilly were the cogs in that machine of fear, deception and failure, and have turned to the Democratic party to restore our country.
The Democratic party now has a strong field of candidates willing to reject the politics of fear and petty name calling, and take America in a new direction.
We no longer need the likes of Bill O'Reilly to assert our legitimacy or build our name recognition. Bill O'Reilly now needs us to appear on his show so that he can be validated as he flounders to assert his legitimacy.
Democratic candidates like Obama should continue to starve Bill O'Reilly of the attention he so needs right now to boost his ratings and thereby confirm that he is still relevant.

Those of us who remember such broadcasting giants as Paul Harvey and "The REST... of the Story" have so much to be grateful for! We, at least, have been exposed in our formative years to GENUINE journalism.

So check out Adam Curtis' latest work on the BBC. It is titled "The Trap", and Google Video has it. Also check out his prior "The Power of Nightmares" series for a hidden history of this insane ongoing State-sponsored US terrorwar that we all got schnockered and kerfluffled into, from a surprisingly SANE pre/post-ninesey-'levensey Brit POV.

THEN just take in even ten minutes of O'Reilley... A SMART shopper COMPARES the QUALITY of the GOODS!

Fact: We seniors have STANDARDS that the raised-on-FOX-"News"(FNORD) crowd simply ain't got. Maybe that is why those lyin', power-mad NeoCons and their buddies at the CFR (as well as roughly 400 congresscritters who voted on October 23 2007 for the BushCo "Domestic Terrorism Bill") clearly would strongly prefer that all us long-haired, long-memoried, funny-hatted old-timers were just put away in domestic internment camps (there's one near you TODAY!) "For The Duration" while the US Constitution is systematically abolished, Habeas Corpus permanently suspended, and all manner of filthy and agonizing torture is cheerfully "regularized" for the $tate'$ private "Ownership Society" purpo$e$ and end$.

And the children, devoid of prior experience, just go along to get along.

Meanwhile, Britain does not speak in terrorwar terms any longer by order of Her Gracious Majesty, y'know that? It has been 200 years since Britain abandoned and outlawed the slave trade, y'see. One must demonstrate Moral Leadership. (Them corporate news-blackout baboons "across the pond" within the USDC Jurisdiction have forgotten how, y'know.)

Fact: Bill O'Reilley is a part of the USA Wrecking Crew. He finds a new way to harm America every day. He HAS to - he "HAS NO CHOICE" - because that is HIS JOB. He has been carrying the Beltway Terror Corporation's filthy black water uphill and down every day for ten solid terror-laden years now, easy.

Therefore I say this: To bow to that man is to pander to his nihilistic delusions concerning Life, the Universe, and Everything. Complicity = DEATH. Has O'Reilley a soul? No? Does Mr. Obama value his own? YES? Then it is a NO CONTACT POLICY on the whole show, hands down.

Or consent to appear - shake the guy's hand - then DEMOLISH the jerk right there before his own camera krue.

    Increase the Peace.
    Reverse the Curse.
    Reject ALL terror.
    (You KNOW you WANT to.)

Bill O'Reilly is in the class with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Cannity, and Dr. Michael Savage. They are not journalists but idealogues. Bill and the others are nasty, mean spirited, and make no attempt to look at both sides of an issue. I say this as one who has always tried to listen to their shows to see another viewpoint. However, I cannot take more than 5 minutes of them because of the qualities that I mentioned above. I don't know what the demeanor of a person might be who enjoys listening to Bill O'Reilly but I would find it to be demeaning to be interviewed by him. I enjoy a tough interviewer like Mike Wallace but not a proven nasty one. I've seen Bill O'Reilly in action. I don't know how he can be proud of what he does. He is like Howard Stern to me, very unacceptable.

You cannot get out of a hole by digging it deeper.

America is in a deep hole that has been dug by the O'Reilly ilk.

For Obama to appear on O'Reilly's show would be to jump right down in that hole with shovel in hand.

Mr. Obama should continue to stand outside that hole, and instead concentrate on filling it in, turning it into a grave for O'Reilly and his minions.

Obama is credible; O'Reilly is not and never will be. Obama should never relinquish his credibility by lending some to O'Reilly. Do not legitimize the lies of O'Reilly by lending him credibility.

People who watch O'Reilly also like Obama. The loser is Obama. This staffer gave him some bad press and it turned off some people at the NH primary. I don't think the liberal media expected Obama to move backwards after over selling this petty event.

Obama going on Fox would do two things:

    1) Help Fox create the false impression that it is a news organization;

    2) Lower Obama toward Fox's level.

    #1 would be BAD for America;

#2 would be BAD for Obama and America.

Stand firm. Deal with real journalists. Keep Fox in the deep freeze.

It's called Faux News for a reason; Rupert Murdoch wants viewers to believe his personal propaganda channel is a real news station. There have been memorandas which illustrate Faux News is nothing more than an arm of the GOP where the bobble headed commentators present their rightwing "views" and "feelings" as if they are news and some people are naive enough to believe it. Faux News has no credibility and their reporters are trying to shove their decisions down the throats of anyone who will liste which is wrong on so many levels. BillO is their biggest draw at Faux News but if you've ever watched five minutes of "the o'really factor" this overgrown, immature boob invites people on his show for an ostensible "interview" then talks over them or cuts them off completely if their views don't align with his. This is why o'really went to Obama instead of Obama coming to him. I'm just glad that it not only didn't give BillO any kind of a scoop over the rest of the MSM, but it allowed us a glimpse of his abusive tactics. Why would anyone as intelligent as Obama want to appear on the "Spin Zone" with O'Really? It wouldn't serve any purpose at all so please, please Obama stay as far away from their stations as possible and don't ever sink so low that you agree to appear on Faux News, ever! They have no credibility and they are pathetically pretending to be fair and balanced but they are the opposite.

    Senator Obama -

I find your personal attributes intriguing and your political views compelling. Given your current stature in the campaign for President of the United States, I would strongly caution you about going on Bill O'Reilly's show - particulary in light of his behavior at your recent campaign rally in New Hampshire.

Mr. O'Reilly is quite simply the consummate misantrophe of the political Right and Fox "Noise" (as Mr. Olbermann has so eloquently labeled it). Why you would even consider giving this man one minute of your invaluable time at this juncture of your life is beyond me - I hope your "promise" to him was a gesture of cursory appeasement. If you are going to continue to advocate a rational and responsible dialogue regarding the future of this country, Bill "O'Really" is not worthy of being included in that discussion.

Here is hoping you can de-throne both the Democrat and Republican Establishment machines.

    Respectfully,

    Lance M. Haley

People who claim "Fox is biased" are mental cases, for they share the same attributes and those who are professionally diagnosed. Fixations on ideas, droning on about a topic which others could care less about. The proof is easy to see when witnessing one of these fuckheads in action. You will notice their logic is flawed. That is to say they will drone on and on about "Fox is biased" because it has a opinionated talk show, yet when was the last time one of these idiots put up a website stating "HBO supports crime" which would be the conclusion using their logic and HBOs long running show the Soprannos. You see, their logic is inconsistent, thus proving they are fixated. When some local tv station shows clips from Democracy Now, do I say "DUUUHHH MY PEE PEE HURTS! THATS A BIASED TV STATION"? No, I'm intelligent enough to realize that for that segment of the show the Program Director felt Democracy Now was appropriate.

Obama would have to be crazy to go on ony Fox Network show after all does he look self-destructive? Would he beat his head against a brick wall, hit his thumb with a hammer on purpose, smash his fingers in his car door? When you know that going on a Fox Network show and talking to the Fox Moron Crew is going to get you nothing but disrespected, ridiculed, cut off, and told to shut up why would you? If you know that you are about to walk into a pile of crap and you are not smart enough to avoid it, then you get what you deserve. It is not like every Democrat does not know that Fox is the Republican and Administration mouthpiece, so every Democrat should tell them to TALK TO THE HAND.

The Fox Channel would be more appropriately named "The White Supremacy Network", and Bill O'Reilly should be renamed the "Imperial Wizard" of Fox. All he is missing is his white hood, his noose, and his burning cross. Have I missed anything? Obama should snub the Fox Channel totally. Fox is totally beneath Obama and the rest of the decent people in America. Fox is tabloid journalism at best, and it is really nothing less than a clearinghouse for global white supremacy and a mouthpiece of racist venom towards anyone of color who does not acquiece to this evil ideology.

Quick question from outside the US (Berlin, Germany):
What did O'Reilly mean by "he had to uphold the constitution" and "violation of the free press"? I don't really get it... Is he saying that Obama violated the freedom of the press by not talking to O'Reilly, and because Obama's staffer blocked his shot? If yes, that's so hilarious... Like a kiddy sitting in the playground and screaming "Mummy mummy, Obama's staffer's so mean to me!" ;-)
And is O'Reilly always so arrogant? He's acting as if he's the only one who's right and anyone else should fall on the knees and kiss his feet...

I think your site is great and I'm really sympathizing with you in this matter. In Germany we have an unbelievably populist and conservative huge daily newspaper called the "BILD" who are currently blaming all teenage violence to be commited by the immigrant youth.
Teenage violence is the biggest issue at this moment in the German media - not in reality, it's just a media hype. It's so ridiculous and obviously wrong, but those conservatives don't give a damn about the facts. So I'm feeling with you when it comes to reactionary (does this word even exist? - sorry if not) mass journalism.

But I have to say, Fox News seems even worse.

Anyway, just wanted to say, great work that you're doing here, I think I'll come by more often from now on!

Senator Obama should not go on that FOX show because, even though they say it’s impossible, sometimes you really have to teach "old dogs" "new tricks." This tricks is "when a dog (FOX) attacks, you don't let it smell fear. You either immediately stop, look it in the eye and be ready to go for the juggler if it continues its attack or ignore it and continue to walk away.

Another way to say it is to either just back away (so you're facing your attacker and it cannot attack you from the rear) or change your course (don’t go on any shows that are sponsored by FOX, turn a corner, walk the other way, cross the street, talk to the dog owner [FOX-TV SPONSORS] about pulling the dog out of circulation before anyone gets hurt], or ignore the dog and keep walking.

What we’re talking about here is a general member of the population can “change his or her mind about propaganda that s/he spreads to just another person.” But this media mogul, FOX-TV, cannot just jump out of an ignorant box and start “slandering” someone in public view prior to talking to the person about his own life experiences and listening to his version; then, if they don’t lilke what he told them, FOX could then take a different view. But they thought they could “do the slave mentality thing!” Thank god Senator Obama “IS NOT FROM THE U.S.” He’s only looking for votes, and he’s not influenced by that “guilt crap that whites use on American African Blacks” to keep us in a space where they think they’re always in control. Sometimes they are, sometimes they’re not ... NOT!

Peace, Health, Wealth, Success and Redistribution of Power To The People!

FOX ATTACKS: Come on people. I don't believe that small amount of shoving someone out of the way can be called an ATTACK!!! And once again:
If Obama is so great with words then what is he afraid of. Maybe Mr. Inspirational can inspire O'reilly to be a different person. Is Obama afraid he won't be able to play the nice and inspirational card. Maybe O'reilly should get him pissed off so we can all see the real Obama finally.
I think O'reilly was very correct in shoving the guy out of the way.
Maybe Fox News and O'reilly should be crying racism. Everyone else wants to cry hate and racism when something doesn't go their way.

Other people have posted “unedited” footage of the scuffle on YouTube. Our video uses footage from several different sources. O’Reilly’s video is not “the real one” — his was also edited, including bleeping himself calling Obama’s staffer a “son of a bitch”. Showing a single unedited clip would have made the video too long, and our video does not imply that something happened that didn’t. I don’t know why you would assume that the FOX video is the “real” one when FOX and O’Reilly have a vested interest in painting themselves in the most positive light. Also, FOX and O’Reilly have a long history of lying and selectively editing footage to protect and promote their interests, as they did with the Rush Limbaugh “phony soldiers” incident. Some of the footage we used was FOX’s. If anyone wants to see the way FOX presented their clip, they are welcome to find it on YouTube. But our goal was not to rebroadcast FOX’s spin.

The people that made the comments about Obama do not work for fox news. They are put on to speak there opinion. If that makes Fox bad than lets pull down this website since we can speak our thoughts and opinions. My opinion is that Obama should confront Fox instead of hide from them. If he was to be president that would be a pretty bad strategy for solving the problems he would face.

    Mr. Greenwald and friends
I am a forensic historical anthropologist and have applied my skills recently to American history the past three years non-stop (5-15 hours a day). I have uncovered an amazing set of correlations between many of our present journalists and politicians alive today and similar personalities and even physical resemblances to many people that were alive during the American Civil War. Mr. O'Reilly, it seems, was a previous Fire-Eater, one who was of the group subset known for vitriolic writings and speeches that tried to encourage the Southerners to divide the South into a separate nation. These Fire-Eaters were known as “people of recklessly defiant dispositions, especially a persistent duelists; specifically in the United States before the Civil War, with very violent and bitter speech and manners, Southern partisans,", and in particular a carbon-copy match of Mr. O’Reilly is James Henry Hammond, of dubious morals, who had sexual affairs with a not only his slaves, but with a few of his nieces. See the link at Wikipedia and you will be amazed at the similarities even of their faces.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Henry_Hammond
I am interested in writing a documentary on the many Fire-Eaters that have reincarnated today, trying to separate and poison the atmosphere of our beloved nation. You have my e-mail and I would love to share with you my ideas.

Mike N, Fox airs those particular comments because it endorses them & has interests in their being loosed on the public. Answer this- Why don't you see those same comments on every news channel? It's encouraging to see that Obama is taking a stand- exactly what most of this country dreams of in a president. This is the opposite of hiding & is an example of thoughtful confrontation, a good kind of confrontation & a high-road route- and a healthy change from the style of confrontation Fox would like to have instigated.

I still think this is funny, what's wrong with going after a candidate that wants to be President of the United States, but lacks the guts to answer real questions, not set-up softball questions from the rest of the Bolshevik controlled media.
Obama needs to answer for his support for racists, funding from indicted slum lords, and to clarify his stance on attacking Pakistan. If he was the Republican Nominee the Bolsheviks’ would have destroyed him in the media with investigations and lies.

O'Reilly is obviously rude, mean, vile, obnoxious, a bigot, a nasty-minded pervert, probably on the take and an obvious criminal/hoodlum in the way he blatantly exposes his nasty behaviour to all and sundry... and does not care! He knows he's protected by FOX(Murdoch, another rather more clever and sinister swine of a different herd).
But, what game are they all playing? Setting up drama makes riveting viewing, especially for you Americans who drink 'Reality-TV' for breakfast.
Conflict is your first, middle and last-name!
Are you really falling for the poor OBAMA routine. Poor boy is being discrimminated against! That's cos he's BLACK, right???! WRONG.
That's part of the game to fool you all into believing that your elections are 'free and fair' and being 'battled over' in the 'public-eye'.
Who has created the game-plan? You will probably find that the instructions on the inside of the box have been printed by ROCKEFELLER Inc. in conjunction with THE MURDOCH EMPIRE. Never mind all those Bankers, Financiers, Industrialists, and Legal Minds that are playing all three horses: McCain, Obama and Clinton. A few years ago, I would have believed it as just another election. But I woke up with the knowledge that all of it is a TOTAL CON and always has been.
When you realise that your worst enemy is in fact the government you live under, you quite naturally start making other plans and start looking for sane solutions.
If you people out there in that enormous land of the U.S.of A. have not watched the late-Aaron Russo's film: America: From Freedom To Fascism, please do so before you cast ONE vote. It is a crucial documentary and revelation on your system of government and the history of the world unfolding. Do NOT vote before you have watched the movie and then think again before believing the 'strange-scenes' acted out for you and your honest belief in America. There is no America, or United Kingdom. There is only POWER, and those who wield it. Get to know your enemy before it's too late. O'Reilly is merely a servant of the Gods, who think they are, and he will debase himself and all others for their pleasure and planning. That much is obvious.

I'm sorry for people who THINK they are getting NEWS on Network channels! WAKE the HELL UP! Networks aren't any better than watching Oprah or Jerry Springer... their version of the truth and anything BUT the truth. Notice how there is NO NEWS on IRAQ on networks lately??? Heck, it's all good, so they sure couldn't report THAT!

My best friends son (career Army pilot, West Point) is in Iraq commanding an Apache Longbow helicopter squadron and ABC was there during primaries and interviewing about 100 GI's about which candidate they favored. When it aired, ABC showed 3 Obama supporters and 2 for Hillary. What didn't they show? The 145 who said they were McCain fans!

Just like Carter... the buffoon didn't have a CLUE what to do with the Iran Hostage crisis or run away inflation and mortgage rates at 18%!!) IF you have a job, you'll LOVE the increase payroll taxes on Social Security, and IF you sell your home for a profit, you'll love his jump from 15% to 28% Capital Gains tax. You might even love it when he increases corporate taxes and in return THEY cut jobs and you lose your job.

BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk) is probably the most impartial and reliable news source in the world. They are so balanced they even give you links to other news outlets sites so you can compare how stories are portrayed. Fox makes me wants to projectile vomit.

since you can predict the future and already know what barack is going to do. Why didnt you predict that Bush would cause this problem and McCain has said he will continue it by following Bush agenda. If president Bush is so experienced why doesnt he even follow his father's example. Oh wait maybe he did follow some of his father's example we are at war again. So you say Barack doesn't have a clue, you dumb broad George Bush doesn't have a clue and laughing at your dumb butt because he know he messed up this country. You know a racist when they start talking about welfare, what does that have to do with Barack and the rest of the coutry who are losing there jobs to outsourceing and houses due to crooks in high places. This country is reaping from its sin even in natural disasters. Who would want to come behind the damage president Bush has done except for someone who is pastionate. The problem is you don't have enough dirt on Barack to call on anything other than to reference him in the same statement as welfare. Because you are associating welfare with black. News flash welfare was created for you not blacks. Yall been getting rich off the poor and the backs of others forever. This country is a country of hypocrits. You want to abolish geonocide and bring democracy to other countries yet you create genocide in your own country. First by forced slavery and lynchings then you instituted legal discrimnation in every sector from job markets to housing. News flash you shouldnt be worried about Barack you need to worry about your soul on judgement day when you will be held accountable for every word and thought. Some of us think just because we go to church and call ourselves saved we are going to heaven. What about loving our neighbors and treating them as we would want to be treated. I bet you that is totally impossible for you. It is amazing how deep hate runs when because of the color of ones skin. How territorial we get over this country as if God created America just for Caucasions. Well guess what read your bible when Jesus gave the parable about the vineyard that was leased. When the people he leased it to killed the messagers including his son. It was symbolic of what was done to Jesus. Who was the owner? God! not you! You will leave how you came, from the dust you were created and to the dust you shall return. It won't matter what color your president is then nor who he is. You should worry about if your heart is pure enough and is there enough love for your neighbors to get you by the pits of hell!

Obama was ranked, hands-down, the most liberal member of the Senate by the National Journal. Some, including colleague and presidential challenger John McCain, think he's the most liberal member in Congress.

But could he really be "more left," as McCain recently remarked, than self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (for whom Obama has openly campaigned, even making a special trip to Vermont to rally voters)?

    Obama = Marxism!!!!

A true measure of your success isn't the quality of your friends, but the quantity of your enemies.

    Go Obama/Biden '08

I can't believe anyone is upset by this reporting. If Obama can't handle this he should go home. Obama needs to stop running away and face his fears. McCain -Palin have proven to be made to stronger stuff! Go McCain-Palin!!

This is exactly what Bill O'Reilly does. He just loves to bully and put the Dems down. Fox claims to be fair and balanced but it is anything but.

Everything they say about Obama is false but repeating it over and over agains makes people wonder. This has been a nasty campaign. Can't wait till it is over and Barack is our president.
He will bring an end to this war and our troops will come home in honor. Hw eill help our economy and bring back jobs and he will help the middle class.

I got on this website originally trying to find some footage of the new movie An American Carol. But what I found was some miserable people with a one track mind and believing what they want to make themselves valid. Misery really does company. I am glad now to leave. By the way, get a life.

As much as I like O'Reilly and Foxnews, I cannot condone using physical attacks in the name of journalism. This was an extremely disrespectful move, and could be viewed as on the edge of a criminal assault.
O'Reilly should be embarrassed, and he should apologies for his rude behavior!

It's ironic for all of foxnoise's mud slinging towards Barack (and Michelle) Obama, he still manages to win the election. Now all foxnoise can do is, yes, you guessed it: sling more mud. I challenge ANY foxnoise viewer to find ANYTHING positive about President Obama. I fear this search is in vain, but I can hope.

foxnoise, all anti-Obama propaganda, 24/7. Too bad they're too ignorant to realize he's THEIR President, too.

It was low class of the guy to intentionally stand in front of the camera and then laugh about it. He would never have done that to another network. O'Reilly may be polarizing but he has always been fair to both sides and stood up for Obama on several occasions including on tonights show.
