Good to hear. I hear a lot of griping on public online forums about the ACLU going too far about this or that, overreacting. Trying to hold Rumsfeld accountable is a good thing, I feel.

First, let me whole heartedly agree with you and the ACLU. This is a very bold step considering the mood and recent direction this country has taken expecially during the recent elections.

Second, as the Coordinator and Counselor of Cleveland HS (that school you visited in the valley on Feb 28, 2005) I really want to THANK YOU and Lisa Smithline. Both of you are inspiration to our students not just for your views but for the stand you are willing to take. You have given our students reason to think, reason to question and reasons to believe. Their teachers my colleagues have helped make this generation a group we can all be very proud of.

Thank you once again for the enlighting comments and taking the time to speak with them.

Just wanted to echo your thoughts... I actually wrote my own post about this yesterday, so I'm glad to see public support from you on your blog!

(No HTML/line breaks allowed it seems!)

It's very important that the ACLU's work and intentions are widely supported since it's so easy to mischaracterize their goals and purposes.

I just saw a piece last night on the ACLU, I believe on ABC news...anyway, the ACLU had stood up for some looney evangelicals in court and the director of one of these Religious Right groups (probably had the word "Family" in their name...) was STILL complaining about how he appreciated the gesture but the ACLU had deteriorated the "values' of America, WTF???

I love the ACLU and applaud them for standing up for EVERYBODY even if the people they defend sometimes are thankless lunatics.
